The Cornflower Witch Chapter 151
byAfter learning new abilities, Hylial went to the Association to purchase seeds.
“Welcome. We offer a variety of plant seeds for Gardeners to use in combat,” a cute smiling girl introduced to Hylial.
“First, there are the most commonly used ‘Sickle Thorn Vine,’ ‘Blood-Sucking Vine,’ and ‘Thick Wood Vine.’ They respectively possess the effects of poison thorns, blood absorption, and toughness.”
“The Sickle Thorn Vine can directly kill some weaker enemies with its poison thorns. If your ‘Sprawling Vines’ ability is strong enough, it can also cut open enemy scales with its sharp sickle serrations.”
“The Blood-Sucking Vine can continuously absorb enemy blood, strengthening itself and binding enemies. This is currently our best-selling vine seed.”
“The Thick Wood Vine has thick and tough branches. It’s relatively slow and difficult to bind small enemies, but if you encounter some giant beast monsters, it will be a life-saving helper for trapping enemies.”
After listening to the girl’s introduction, Hylial carefully observed the seeds on offer. They were priced at one Gold Coin for five seeds, likely specially cultivated by skilled Gardeners.
However, the girl’s gaze then turned elsewhere, where the seeds were noticeably more expensive.
“Are you interested in these? Let me introduce them to you,” the other girl walked over.
“This is the ‘Demonic Blood Vine,’ an advanced version of the ‘Blood-Sucking Vine.’ It can not only absorb enemy blood but also convert the ‘Blood Law Aspect’ within it, forming ‘Fresh Blood Red Fruit,’ which can be used to strengthen the physique. Currently, in the Woodland, a common quality ‘Fresh Blood Red Fruit’ costs about 1 Gold Coin.”
“On the other side, the ‘Corpse-Seeking Vine’ seeds with black veins can sense faint ‘Dead Ember’ auras in the soil, used to find remains. This is often used for exploring and treasure hunting in treacherous areas.”
“The gray one here is the ‘Iron Thorn Vine,’ a hybrid of the ‘Sickle Thorn Vine’ and the ‘Thorn Whip Vine.’ It allows the vines to be used like whips and, by providing its own Aspect power, enables the whip to continuously recover, grow, and increase in strength and power.”
“The ‘Demonic Blood Vine’ and ‘Corpse-Seeking Vine’ are 1 Gold Coin per seed, while the ‘Iron Thorn Vine’ is 3 Gold Coins per seed.”
After seeing these seeds, Hylial was quite tempted. Since she wasn’t short on money, she bought some of each.
10 ‘Sickle Thorn Vine’ seeds, 10 ‘Blood-Sucking Vine’ seeds, 5 ‘Thick Wood Vine’ seeds, 10 ‘Demonic Blood Vine’ seeds, 3 ‘Corpse-Seeking Vine’ seeds, and 3 ‘Iron Thorn Vine’ seeds, totaling 27 Gold Coins.
Afterward, she also bought some special grass seeds.
‘Blade Thorn Grass,’ which can make tiny thorns bloom inside enemies, rupturing blood vessels.
‘Dew-Gathering Grass,’ which can absorb moisture from the air and soil, providing relatively pure water.
‘Withered Leaf Grass,’ which can grow rapidly and dry its leaves, becoming excellent kindling.
These cost nearly 10 Gold Coins.
After making her preparations, she intended to purchase new weapons. Her current plan was to buy a longbow. After hearing her request, the Association staff member told the girl not to rush the purchase. After her assessment results were in, someone would specially forge a weapon for her.
“If you’re in a hurry, you can try this bow first,” the person handed the girl a black and intricately crafted compound longbow.
[Ebony Compound Bow] (Tier 2 – Excellent): A compound longbow made from special ebony wood and precise components. It can be drawn with little effort and maintain string tension, greatly improving accuracy. A special technique is used on the bow, which adds a ‘Penetration’ effect to arrows. (Accuracy +3, ‘Penetration +1’)
The bow was not heavy in her hand, and the force required to draw it was evenly distributed, so aiming didn’t require much effort. It was very comfortable to use and felt good, as if it had been precisely calibrated. With slight aiming, she could hit the target.
“Thank you.” Taking the bow, Hylial pondered for a moment, then found the blacksmith from the blacksmith street again and asked him to forge a Glimmergold Greatsword.
Hylial spent half a day describing her needs to him, constantly adjusting the model and feel of the greatsword in the shop. She also experimented with a wooden model to test the swinging effect. Finally, based on her memories of Agulun’s height and arm length, she made some adjustments and finalized the shape.
“Forge one for my friend first. Here’s a 50 gold coin deposit.” She planned to have him forge one to test the effect first.
The blacksmith, Okan Graymountain, patted his chest and cheerfully agreed. After finishing these tasks, Hylial could finally begin her first adventure. Anyway, it was alfalfa fattening time in the valley, so she didn’t need to supervise it herself, which was a good opportunity for an outing.
Since it was her first time, she chose an outpost in an area that wasn’t too dangerous, to familiarize herself with the process.
…
Before setting off, Hylial sat at her dressing table, tidying her hair. Considering it was her first adventure, she thought it best to keep a low profile. She re-dyed her hair a light elegant black, and wore the fitted light armor from her provisions.
This close-fitting dark brown light armor perfectly showed off the girl’s well-developed figure. The black skirt covered the part above her knees, and paired with over-the-knee socks, revealed a small amount of fair skin. However, the back and side of the skirt were longer, only showing her calves, making her appear light and agile.
‘It seems like I’ve completely changed.’ Looking at the beautiful black-haired girl in the mirror, if it were their first meeting, one might think she was an elf who had just emerged from the forest.
Her eyes were clear and lively, her body lean and delicate, as if she could easily leap to a treetop.
After putting on her light armor and boots, and finally her fitted fingerless gloves, the girl looked back at the mirror. The black-clad girl in the mirror looked like a capable ranger.
Well, her abilities as a ranger for reconnaissance were indeed very practical.
Finally, she hung the Jade Tree Spirit Sword at her waist and secured the compound bow in the quiver on her back. The adventure-ready girl was freshly made.
Arriving at the teleportation array in the Glittering Gold Plain, after presenting her badge and identification, the presiding wizard nodded and asked her where she wanted to go.
“Each teleportation costs 20 points, so please choose carefully.”
It was a bit expensive. Many students only earned about 20 points a month, so a round trip would be 40 points.
Recalling the Woodland information she had researched recently, Hylial chose an area with moderate danger.
“Take me to the Cold Fir Black Forest.”
“Alright, please stand in the center of the pool.” The wizard adjusted the array’s astrolabe and instructed an assistant to calibrate and verify.
“Destination: Cold Fir Black Forest, Beg Town.”
After he spoke, the pool glowed strangely, and then a faint pillar of light rose, connecting with the land above the clouds.
Above the floating clouds where giant serpents roamed, a vast continent slowly drifted at the cloud’s peak. A faint, almost imperceptible halo shone upon it, then reflected again, casting light into the shadows below.
Everything around them began to blur. After a few seconds, Hylial’s vision returned, and she found herself beneath the cover of tall tree crowns.
The huge tree trunks, about twenty meters tall, formed a canopy that obscured the sky, leaving only small gaps through which scant sunlight pierced into the forest. Large tree roots extended from the base of the trunks in all directions, some encircling a pond, and one even submerged in its waters.
Faint halos flickered intermittently. Others, like Hylial, appeared in the pool and then stepped out.
Feeling the cool air, Hylial, curious, stepped out of the pool. At the exit of the teleportation pool, a wooden sign stood.
