Chapter 114: The Camel Tower

The giant serpent carrying the world moves across the sea of clouds.

The camel bearing a tall tower wanders through the mountains.

As Hylial stepped inside the tower, her eyes gradually adjusted, then she clearly saw everything around her.

Dark red woven carpets covered the floor, the surrounding walls and floor were made of black stone slabs, and on either side of the path, whale oil candelabras burned steadily, emitting a faint incense scent.

At the entrance of this passage, a middle-aged man in a black trench coat approached. He looked about forty years old, and a faint castle aura emanated from him.

“You must be the student from Burntstone City.”

He opened a thick-covered book, and the pages within flipped open without a breeze, finally stopping at one page. The name ‘Hylial’ appeared on the yellowed page, along with an outline of her face. Beside the row recording the girl’s information, two symbols were marked: ‘Golden Sunflower’ and ‘Purple Night Flower’.

“Oh, it seems you are already being watched by some people.” Noticing these two symbols, the man stroked his beard, then looked up, his expression slightly changing as he saw the badge near Hylial’s collar.

“A Woodland Badge, that means you must be an excellent student who completed three objectives.” He nodded slightly.

“Very good. Later, in the ‘Camel Tower’, you can stay in an upper room, and a dedicated maid will clean your room. As for where to eat, someone will guide you.” After speaking, he raised his hand towards the page, and invisible threads condensed, forming a black key in his palm; the entire process was effortless.

“This is your room key. Go to the third floor, find an unlocked room, settle in, insert the key into the keyhole, and it will be ready to use after a while.”

[Room Key] (Castle): A key with special effects that can fit certain door locks.

“Go through the main hall to the staircase at the back, and you can go upstairs.”

“Rest for now. Someone will come later to tell you about the situation inside the ‘Camel Tower’.”

“Alright.” Hylial took the black key, holding it in her hand, and curiously walked into the passage next to him.

Following the carpeted path for more than ten meters, she pushed open a door and was met by a spacious hall as large as a football field. Students of various races and in different clothes gathered in twos and threes. Some were sitting at tables talking, others hurried through the hall, going to other places.

In the middle of the hall was a luminous white jade tree, whose branches and leaves emitted a fluorescent glow, illuminating the entire hall. In addition, there were many candelabras around the hall, also lit with large candle lamps, their warm yellow glow decorating every corner of the hall.

In this relatively noisy and bustling environment, Hylial, who had just entered, did not attract much attention. Only as she passed by did some people, curious about her silver hair, turn to take another look.

As Hylial passed a student with a leopard’s head, she caught a scent of earth and grass. This was her first time seeing such a beast-like sub-human.

Further ahead, there were also many students whose attire resembled hers, likely from the nations of the Southern Continent.

“Where is the Camel Tower now?” a student asked a companion.

“How would I know? The windows are mostly sealed, only the people on the upper floors can see outside.” The student in a bright yellow noble attire shrugged.

“But I guess it should be in the Anti Kingdom now. Further south is the edge of the continent, where there are only small nations, so we’ll pass through quickly.”

“This round trip should be to the ‘Merchant City Union’ of Meteor Lake, and then to the Woodland.”

“It will probably take another month.”

“It’s so long. I’ve been in this Camel Tower for almost half a year. It was summer when I came in, and I brought mostly summer clothes.” A girl complained.

“This Camel Tower travels through the southern nations of the continent in only ten months, which is already very fast.” Others shook their heads.

“There are probably fifty-something countries, and this batch of new students is about eight thousand.”

Carrying a heavy suitcase, Hylial slowly walked through the hall, listening curiously to the conversations around her.

Thanks to her special talent in this life, she could easily distinguish and understand various conversations simultaneously from the noisy environment. Just walking this short distance through the hall, she learned quite a few interesting things.

As Hylial walked slowly, several people were playing and chasing each other in the hall. A girl in a dark red dress, while walking, looked back and laughed with her companions behind her, not seeing Hylial, and bumped into her.

Facing this situation, the girl slightly adjusted her posture, letting the suitcase bear the impact, while she remained a little further back.

“Excuse me,” she quickly apologized to Hylial, then prepared to pull her companion away.

Hylial, the silver-haired girl in a black dress, didn’t mind and was about to continue moving forward. However, the male companion of that girl walked over. His eyes were initially on the dark red-dressed girl who had run off, and he only glanced at Hylial.

No, after looking away, he immediately turned back, noticing the silver badge pinned to Hylial’s collar.

Upon seeing this badge, his expression changed slightly, and he immediately stepped forward.

“I apologize, Senior Student. My companion bumped into you just now. Please don’t take it to heart.”

“It’s fine, you can go.” The girl’s gentle voice surprised him, but he quickly reacted.

“Senior Student, you just arrived, right? Your luggage is so heavy, let me help you carry it.” Saying this, he prepared to take the luggage.

“It’s very heavy.” The girl slightly moved the suitcase away, not wanting to trouble outsiders.

“It’s nothing, it’s my duty.” Saying this, he called out to the few people who had run off, gathering them.

“What’s wrong, Toren?” The companions reluctantly approached.

“What’s wrong? You almost hit the Senior Student, did you know that?” The tall boy, who had been kind to Hylial seconds ago, suddenly changed his expression and spoke sternly.

“What Senior Student? I don’t even know…” Saying this, one companion looked at the girl and noticed the badge on her collar.

“I don’t even know her, which is a great sin. Hello, Senior Student, I am very sorry for just now.” He immediately stood straight and bowed deeply. The remaining two girls were also utterly surprised.

At this point, the two girls, prompted by their companion, also noticed the difference, their faces turning pale with shock. They nervously apologized to Hylial, then carefully lowered their heads and stood still, looking as if they were ready to be reprimanded.

This change in circumstances surprised Hylial greatly. She guessed that the badge must represent a very unusual status.

Then, at the enthusiastic suggestion of the group, two of them helped Hylial carry her suitcase towards the staircase across the hall.

As they ascended the stairs, the group introduced Hylial to the living situation there.

“Student dormitories are distributed from the 3rd to 12th floors. We are now in the hall on the 5th floor. On the 7th floor below, there are many restaurants where you can eat, and further down, there are some activity and training areas.”

“From the 20th floor downwards is where the servants live. There are also some livestock and indoor farmlands.”

“What are the living conditions like?” Hylial asked curiously.

“Generally, four people share a room, with bunk beds similar to those in ship cabins.”

“The bedrooms aren’t very large, so everyone likes to come out for activities. The 5th, 6th, 8th, and 9th floors all have spacious halls.”

They chatted as they walked, and before they knew it, they arrived at the staircase entrance on the third floor. Two tall, armored golems guarding the entrance raised their weapons, blocking their path.

“No entry for those without a badge,” the golem’s armored face mask said in a cold voice.
