Chapter Index

    Two invisible forces crossed paths.

Wang Jixuan felt dizzy and suddenly felt extremely tired.

    “snort!”

Zheng Shiduo grunted and staggered backward.

Ling Tong, who had been observing silently, suddenly made his move!

She grabbed Wang Jixuan with her right arm and pulled him backward, while her left arm delivered a powerful punch that flew out with a trail of flame as it left her arm and slammed into Zheng Shiduo’s neck.

Zheng Shiduo covered his neck and knelt down.

“Cough! Cough cough… Holy crap… They’re all acquaintances… Was it really necessary to be so ruthless… I was using a sleep aid…”

    Zheng Shiduo’s face turned a deep purplish-red.

The fist had already spread its fingers, and electric currents emanated from its fingertips, stunning Zheng Shiduo. He trembled all over and passed out, his hair standing on end and his face blackened, but he was clearly not in mortal danger.

Wang Jixuan felt as if he had fallen into a warm and soft embrace.

Although the overheated robotic arm was still stiff, the rest of her body seemed… pretty much like a normal woman’s…

A golden light appeared before Wang Jixuan’s eyes. He silently recited incantations and pondered the Dao, and the feeling of exhaustion quickly subsided.

Was that a technique performed by Zheng Shiduo?

He felt his eyelids getting heavy, and drowsiness kept creeping in. He could hear Zhou Zhengde and the others calling out to him.

“What happened! Mu Liang is injured!”

    “Team Leader Mu!”

“None of the psionicists can be relied on!”

Ling Tong said, “Team Leader Mu is fine… Zheng Shiduo released a mild mental interference. He has been trying to stop my investigation in order to protect his friend Professor Zhuang, so I deliberately created a loophole to lure him into making a move.”

As she spoke, Ling Tong tied her long, loose hair into a high ponytail and removed the transparent patch that was attached to her hair.

With a slight exertion of her left robotic arm, she lifted Wang Jixuan up, while her right robotic arm pulled up a metal box beside her.

Ling Tong gave the order in a soft voice:

“I have already deployed armored vehicles from the purge troops. Could you please tie Zheng Shiduo up? We might be able to get some information from him that is not conducive to Professor Zhuang’s confession.”

Zhou Zhengde looked at Wang Jixuan on the Lingtong robotic arm.

He actually wanted to carry his comrades on his back.

However, seeing Ling Tong’s nonchalant demeanor, Zhou Zhengde didn’t say anything and instead went to deal with Zheng Shiduo.

    It’s not that Young Master Zhou chickened out;

It’s just a little bit of necessary respect for the battle girls.

This was the first time Wang Jixuan had felt so safe since coming into this world.

He took the opportunity to rest for a while, about ten minutes, and then felt himself being gently placed on a hard seat in a car, which slowly started moving.

About two minutes later, the sound of several people talking could be heard.

At this point, Wang Jixuan was no longer feeling very tired.

Zheng Shiduo coughed a few times and muttered curses:

“Ling Tong! Do you really want to kill me?! I was just thinking of letting you sleep!”

“That’s the only reason you can still spout nonsense here.”

For some reason, Ling Tong’s voice remained very soft as she said:

“I have reported your violation to the command center. You will be interrogated when you return.”

“Let them interrogate me! They can just put me in solitary confinement! I’ll treat it like a vacation!”

Zhou Zhengde sighed: “Can you answer a few questions for me, Captain Zheng?”

“No way! Only a dog would cooperate with you!”

    Zheng Shiduo became a bachelor.

Zhou Zhengde said with utmost sincerity, “Then I’ll send a message to my elders and tell them that you want to use mental shock to turn me into an idiot.”

Zheng Shiduo: “Could you ask me again? The question from before.”

Can you answer a few questions for me?

“Of course, I’d love to share the secrets of psychics with everyone.”

Zheng Shiduo winked at Zhou Yanei.

Zhou Zhengde frowned and asked, “What exactly is the material? Is it just individual human beings?”

    Zheng Shiduo sighed:

“Not just anyone can become source material; there are three important factors involved.”

“The three indices are: mental activity index, resistance to darkness index, and the more metaphysical individual willpower.”

Only human individuals who meet the baseline in all three indices can be considered as raw materials.

“The materials will be sent to the psionic homes of each fortress. There is a set of equipment inside. Go in and come out. There is a 20% chance of surviving and an 80% chance of dying. There are all sorts of ways to die.”

“Of those who survive, 15 percent are able to master psychic powers.”

“In other words, ideally, one hundred materials can produce three to four psionicists. Among these three or four psionicists, many are E-rank or even have no combat power.”

“On average, it takes the sacrifice of five hundred materials to create a C-level psionicist.”

    Zhou Zhengde fell silent.

Wang Jixuan secretly shook his head in his heart.

The Thirteen Schools are indeed a demonic sect, even worse than a demonic sect.

Even if the Demonic Sect forged Blood Demon Weapons, they wouldn’t suffer such high losses.

Zheng Shiduo sighed: “My case is rather special. I was originally a glorious warrior. I was critically wounded and on the verge of death when I received a psionic infusion, and then I… well, I took off!”

    He continued muttering:

“Basically, the psionicists that the military can directly command all have similar experiences to mine.”

“However, there are some complex systems involved.”

    “Distorted, redundant, and inefficient.”

Zhou Zhengde said, “I previously investigated and found that every psychic is subject to the person in charge of the base, and the person in charge must be an ordinary human. Why is that?”

“That’s right, we call them direct dependents.”

“I have two direct subordinates: the command center of the war zone and Professor Zhuang.”

    Zheng Shiduo shrugged slightly:

“The system set up by the 13th Institute is very complicated, and it is deliberately covered up, with many, many scandals.”

“At the fortress level, the heads of the thirteen outposts, with the forty low-level psionicists under their control, lord it over the fortress.”

“But at the level of war zones and integrated war zones, the leaders of the psionics become loyal dogs at the beck and call of the military, and their balls are held tightly.”

“A very strange ecosystem, isn’t it?”

“The reason is simple: too many people control the lives of psionicists.”

Zhou Zhengde asked, “Why does each fortress need forty psionicists?”

Ling Tong quickly explained, “Forty psionicists are standard equipment for a fortress. Their role is to prevent mimicry blade beasts from entering the fortress and causing trouble, so they do have some significance.”

Wang Jixuan, who was pretending to be asleep, pondered for a moment.

Mimicry Blade Beast… Transformation Demon Beast?

Aren’t the demonic beasts that can transform into human form all old demons who are at least comparable to the Golden Core Realm?

How could a low-level psionicist who can’t even use his Qi properly fight against a mimicry blade beast?

Is the Mimic Blade Beast not very strong? Or is it different from the monsters he understands?

    Master Wang pondered deeply.

    Zheng Shiduo complained:

“Alright, I’ll give you a little science lesson. I hope this will earn you some goodwill.”

“The following information has been deliberately hidden and cannot be accessed unless you hold a certain position.”

“It all stems from the riots in the Psionic Capital more than sixty years ago.”

“Several SS-rank psionicists in the Psionic Capital attempted to establish a psionic government for all humanity, unifying all resources to help themselves gain greater power. In order to achieve their ambitions, they launched an unnamed human civil war—the Psionic Capital Rebellion.”

    Wang Jixuan: ……

    Oh my god!

The people here are almost wiped out by the Blade Beasts, how can they still have the mind to fight for power internally?

Zheng Shiduo spoke quickly and passionately:

    “These SS-level psionicists failed.”

“But their power was too great, and no one knew exactly what had happened, so the military ultimately chose to negotiate with them.”

“I speculate that it was because many psionicists chose to stand with the United Defense Force. Under the pressure of the United Defense Force and the three space fortresses, these SS-level psionicists had no choice but to bow their heads, and then they were imprisoned in the center of the Psionic Capital, in the Thirteen Old Headquarters Building.”

“I also heard that they live with the largest nuclear bomb in human history. As soon as they leave that building, boom! They and the Psionic City will be blown to bits.”

“The psychic system was then drastically altered by the military, resulting in its first distortion.”

The latest novels are first published on 69shuba!

“Through negotiation, it was stipulated that the command work of the psionic organization must be carried out by ordinary human researchers, or by war zone commanders or fortress governors.”

“From the moment of their birth, each psionicist has a self-destruct chip placed in their neck. This chip will periodically send signals to several servers.”

“After decades of open and covert struggles and mutual resistance between the military and the 13th Research Institute, the situation has undergone extremely complex changes, and the distortion has continued to intensify.”

“The old men and women in the military who suppressed the rebellion in the psionic capital are almost all dead, but those few SS-level psionicists are still alive and kicking, constantly trying to regain control over all psionicists.”

“Kong Nu was just one of their lowly soldiers.”

Zhou Zhengde frowned and said, “My maternal grandfather is still in excellent health! He was also one of the repressors back then!”

“Those big shots who transformed themselves into machines don’t count! They’re irreplaceable!”

Zheng Shiduo sighed and continued to complain:

“Since the fortress station infusion authority was opened, the fortress level leader can directly send materials and newly trained psionicists to the headquarters’ psionic capital.”

    “Like this Kong Nu.”

“Kong Nu’s direct superior is Professor Zhuang. Old Zhuang’s daily work is to inspect the heads of various fortresses and coordinate with the war zone to deploy psionicists.”

“In reality, Professor Zhuang can only directly command a few hundred psionicists, all of whom are frontline psionicists. Professor Zhuang works diligently by your grandfather’s side, and he really has nothing to do with Kong Nu’s matter.”

“The lives of these psionicists within Fortress 76 are all in the hands of a three-tiered control system: the direct controller Kong Nu, the superior controller Professor Zhuang, and the ultimate controller Psionic Capital.”

“But Professor Zhuang is on the front lines, how could he possibly be in charge of things here?”

    Everyone pondered their own thoughts.

Zheng Shiduo’s voice was incredibly sincere:

“Young Master Zhou, if possible, I hope you can explain Professor Zhuang’s situation to the Commander-in-Chief.”

“Old Zhuang is not only my supervisor, but also my mentor. He is truly innocent. He spends most of his time on research into how to optimize infusion and reduce the number of dead materials. Old Zhuang is not the same kind of person as Kong Nu, who is desperate to squeeze into the psionic capital.”

“Lao Zhuang is an anti-spiritual state faction, which is the faction that opposes the establishment of state power by psychics. He is also a big name in the field of psychic infusion.”

Zhou Zhengde shrugged: “I will continue to investigate these matters.”

Wang Jixuan opened his eyes, calmly removed his head from Ling Tong’s mechanical arm and shoulder, and sat up straight.

Zheng Shiduo looked as if he had seen a ghost.

“You’re an E-rank psionicist, why are you awake now! My sleep spell isn’t working?”

“I’m not a psychic,” Wang Jixuan stared at Zheng Shiduo’s chest. “Captain Zhou, could you show me his pendant?”

Zhou Zhengde ripped off Zheng Shiduo’s pendant and handed it to Wang Jixuan.

Wang Jixuan held it in his hand, his spiritual senses fluttering slightly with joy.

This item is similar to a spirit stone, but much simpler than a demon beast’s core. Its spiritual energy purity is between that of a spirit stone and a demon core, and the outer metal has the effect of suppressing spiritual energy fluctuations.

The key point is that it can absolutely be used for formation!

“What are you doing! This is a memento of my life!”

Zheng Shiduo glared and was about to stand up.

Ling Tong, who had been keeping the palm of her right robotic arm pointed at Zheng Shiduo, frowned slightly and raised her arm.

Zheng Shiduo immediately sat down obediently, saying with a wronged expression:

“Be gentle, don’t break it, it’s my lucky charm.”

“I’m just a little curious,” Wang Jixuan asked with a smile, “What is this?”

“The crystallization of the Blade Beast is also called the crystal core.”

    Ling Tong said softly:

“The rule on the front lines is that you can get the crystal core of the first Blade Beast you kill. This is the lowest-level Blade Beast crystal core.”

“Other crystal cores are collected and managed by the military and provided to the Thirteenth Institute.”

“This is also an important way for the military to influence the 13th Research Institute.”

Zheng Shiduo muttered under his breath, “Guess what kind of energy psychics are infused with? Hehehehehe.”

Wang Jixuan casually tossed the item to Zheng Shiduo.

It doesn’t have much spiritual power left.

Wang Jixuan asked, “Is this just the crystal core of an ordinary bladed beast?”

“Yes,” Ling Tong observed Wang Jixuan’s eyes, “Are you interested in this?”

“I just think it’s quite memorable.”

Wang Jixuan smiled with narrowed eyes:

    Where are we going now?

    “Evidence collection, three locations.”

    Ling Tong’s simple explanation:

“In the materials submitted by the purge team, the command center discovered three locations with serious illegal activities under the Blackfire Gang: a cloning laboratory, a Blade Beast organ cultivation room, and… a human-Blade Beast gene fusion experiment site.”

Zheng Shiduo was taken aback: “Blade…blade beast organ cultivation?”

    “Yes.”

    Ling Tong said calmly:

“Professor Zhuang’s paper published twelve years ago is the only relevant theoretical literature.”

“In addition, the investigators also noticed that in the Wanlijin gang area bordering the Blackfire Gang’s territory, there is a large amount of soil made from the blood and flesh of Blade Beasts. A batch of this soil is produced every year. The source of the Blade Beast blood and flesh is unknown, and it is suspected that it is a defective product from the Blade Beast organ cultivation experiment.”

“This is my real mission number two.”

    She added:

“Just one Kong Nu is not worth me expending so much energy on.”

Zheng Shiduo looked conflicted: “No, is my old Zhuang really Kong Nu online? Ah! That’s not what the old man told me.”

Wang Jixuan asked, “Major Ling Tong, can I go to the upper city to keep an eye on Kong Nu?”

    “Why?”

“Make sure we can get rid of Kong Nu and avoid future troubles.”

Ling Tong asked, “Do you distrust the military, or do you think that the military’s air defense missiles can’t shoot down a plane that has already been locked on?”

Wang Jixuan was silent for a few seconds, then calmly said, “I just can’t believe in human nature.”

After a moment’s thought, Ling Tong made her decision and turned to look at Zhou Zhengde:

“Can Captain Zhou’s assessment be done later? I must prioritize the mission from the command center. Team Leader Mu is only an E-level psionicist, so I need you to accompany me to Shangcheng.”

“Alright! I’ll go up with Mu Liang! I know Shangcheng best! That’s my territory!”

Zhou Zhengde took a deep breath:

“We have an amazing chemistry, and when we work together, the result is definitely greater than the sum of its parts!”

“Hahaha! Maybe we can get rid of Kong Nu directly!”

    Wang Jixuan: ……

He actually wanted to act alone, he said.
