Chapter Index

    “They’re both dead?”

The atmosphere inside the stealth aircraft’s cabin was slightly tense.

These six psionicists were all pondering their next move.

Of the six, four were from a fixed Psionic City action group, belonging to the 【Psionic City Gray Feather Investigation Team】.

The other two, along with the C and D psykers who were just sniped at Gate 3 of the fortress, were borrowed from Fortress 82…

    Mixed fish.

Therefore, although two psionicists have died, it has not had much impact on the Grayfeather Survey Team.

Those two boastful scoundrels were originally sent by them to test the waters.

“No wonder this is the territory of the devil’s commander-in-chief.”

A slightly husky, sexy female voice rang out.

The woman who spoke was codenamed’Shaman’. She was a B-level psychic with wheat-colored skin and a fit physique.

Shaman’s outfit was very sexy. The only fabric on her upper body was a brown bralette, while her lower body was covered by a soft light gray long skirt. Her pretty face was covered by a thin veil, and her light blue eyes revealed a sense of mystery.

A crystal ball was placed in front of Shaman, and she would rub it with her hand from time to time.

Opposite Shaman stood a burly man, at least two meters tall, codenamed ‘Mane Bear,’ a B-level physical enhancement psychic.

The bear crossed its arms and frowned, saying:

“The Devil Commander is my idol. If I could, I wouldn’t want to cause trouble on his turf.”

“Come on, all the muscular men stronger than you are your idols.”

The leader of the four-person team, a middle-aged woman with an unkempt appearance, cursed irritably.

The middle-aged women are codenamed ‘Dragonfly Auntie’—these are nicknames they chose themselves when they joined the company.

Aunt Dragonfly’s face was a little puffy, her hair was a bit messy, and she was wearing a dirty nightgown, looking like she hadn’t taken care of herself for weeks. If you got close, you could smell a strong odor, a mixture of sweat, smoke, and alcohol.

Although this middle-aged woman looked somewhat slovenly and a bit颓废 (颓废 is a difficult word to translate directly, but it implies a state of being listless, dispirited, or decadent) about her, she was the only one in the area with true A-level combat power—an A-level psionicist.

Aunt Dragonfly was looking at the documents in front of her, leaning on the edge of the table, tapping her fingers on the surface as she thought carefully.

The last member of the four-person team is…

    A tree.

This was a thin, small man covered in a thick layer of tree bark. His hair was made of tiny green buds, and every now and then a small branch would sprout from the bark on his body, which he would then snip off with a small pair of scissors.

The man’s body was only covered by bark on a few parts such as his hands, face, and joints. He also wore very little clothing, consisting of only a specially made pair of briefs.

    ‘Tree Man Beta’ is his code name;

    His team’s role was defined as ‘the best firewood supplier for wilderness survival’;

    ‘A-level mutant psychic’ is his internal psychic energy rating;

“The most useless A-level psychic” is a nickname given to him by others.

Tree-man Beta asked in a low voice, “Captain, did you offend some leader? You were sent on such a dangerous mission.”

Aunt Dragonfly rolled her eyes: “Isn’t such a challenging task a recognition of our abilities? Don’t mention those old bastards to me! Damn it, they even tried to take advantage of someone like me, it’s disgusting!”

The bear squinted and said, “There are a few senior psionicists who like to explore the unusual.”

“I’ll do it to you, you believe it or not!” Aunt Dragonfly shouted fiercely.

The bear quickly admitted its mistake and backed down.

“Let’s discuss the operation plan first, Captain,” Shaman said worriedly. “What are the specific orders we’ve received from above? This operation feels very dangerous to me.”

“Oh, haven’t I told you the specifics yet?”

The Dragonfly Granny barely mustered her strength, glanced at the two lowly psionicists sitting in the corner, barely daring to breathe, and said irritably:

“You two are useless. Put on your noise-canceling headphones and turn around.”

    “yes!”

The two quickly put on earplugs and headphones, turned on loud music, and faced the corner to reflect on their actions.

Aunt Dragonfly raised her hand and pushed, and a 3D projection screen enlarged in front of the four people, displaying a photo of the Black Storm. There were also two marked boxes next to it, containing information about Mu Liang and Zhou Tiantian.

“First is this guy, codenamed Black Storm, formerly known as Mu Liang and Zhou Tiantian, a psionicist trained by the military.”

“Based on preliminary investigations, he may be the first military psionicist with comprehensive strength comparable to a ‘C-level degraded’ psionicist. He has high military skills and strong counter-reconnaissance capabilities. He was previously active in Fortress 76. The Kong Nu incident and Qin Qin’s arrest are directly related to him.”

Mane Bear asked, “I do know Qin Qin, a researcher with a super figure, I heard she can keep three old men in bed at the same time… Who is this Kong Nu?”

“Who knows who Kong Nu is?”

    Dragonfly Granny shrugged:

“Judging from the information, he should be a researcher who wants to enter the Psionic Capital? There are plenty of idiots like him who are desperate to squeeze into the Psionic Capital. What’s so great about the Psionic Capital?”

Shaman immediately said, “Don’t be so aggressive, Xiong! Is making female pornographic films really that fun?”

“Then let me rephrase it,” the bear said seriously. “Qin Qin is an academic researcher with a superb figure, independent and self-reliant, who does not yield to male authority and can simultaneously defeat the physical strength of three old men.”

Treeman Beta couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Shaman snorted, “You really are! You’re so arrogant!”

The bear raised an eyebrow dismissively.

“Can you please let me finish?! Don’t force me to cut off your reproductive organs and let them pair up on their own!”

Aunt Dragonfly cursed, and the two men immediately became obedient.

Tree-man Beta trimmed the branches on his arm and asked in confusion, “Is it necessary to make such a big fuss for a military psionicist with only C-level overall strength?”

“The Black Storm is just a side investigation; the most troublesome problem inside this fortress is this.”

Aunt Dragonfly gently pushed with her right hand.

A photo of a boy in a wheelchair being pushed into the Lingtong Supply Station by Zheng Shiduo appeared before the group.

Mane Bear’s eyes lit up: “Zheng Shiduo? I know him! A very famous abnormal psychic! A balanced psychic with average strength!”

“Look at the boy he’s pushing! That’s the biggest problem.”

    Aunt Dragonfly said quickly:

“There is very little information about this boy, because he was previously a poor guy in a laboratory, a clone of the S-class mutated psionic beast talker. Among the thousands of clones, only a few were successfully created through infusion, and he was one of them.”

“He possesses some of the abilities of a beast-speaker master. His previous psionic reaction level was B, and his overall threat level is very high.”

“According to the intelligence we have, this poor little guy played a huge role in the battle to wipe out the young queen worms that just took place in this area.”

“Those old guys up there believe that Fortress 76’s sudden expulsion of all psionicists, its use of political means to detain Team Leader Wei Linzheng and the old thug Feng Bangjie, and its announcement that Fortress 76 would not accept any psionicists during the investigation, were all to protect this clone of the Beast Speaker.”

    The group pondered carefully.

The bear asked, “I remember that these clones don’t live long, and they all need to rely on nutrient tanks to survive. He looks… very healthy.”

“That’s the most shocking thing. He should have died, but he’s alive now, with a rosy complexion, and he’s healthier than any of us.”

    Aunt Dragonfly clicked her tongue:

“When Qin Qin brought him here, he was already close to death and had been marked as a worthless experimental target.”

“So,” Beta the Tree Man asked, “our main task is to take him down?”

“It’s not about solving it, it’s about investigating it.”

    Aunt Dragonfly simply said:

“We are the Gray Feather Investigation Team, not the Destruction Team or the Judgment Team. All we need to do is gather intelligence and report it to those old perverts, and that’s enough to complete our mission.”

Tree Man Beta sighed: “That’s good. This kind of child is too pitiful. No matter what means the military used to save him, it’s good that he’s alive.”

“Threats should be eliminated as soon as possible,” the bear muttered.

“But the fortress is designed to be easy to defend and difficult to attack. How are we supposed to investigate? They’ve blocked all the paths.” Shaman said worriedly.

    Click.

Aunt Dragonfly lit a cigarette, leaned back in her simple folding chair, rested her left hand on the back of the chair, gently exhaled a smoke ring, and said calmly:

“There are three directions for our investigation. If we make a breakthrough in any of these three directions, we can make a quick getaway.”

“Never forget, this is the territory of the Demon Commander-in-Chief. If he wants to mess with us, we won’t be able to get out alive, and no one will speak up for us. Those idiots are afraid of the Terror Mechs.”

    “call.

“The first direction of the investigation is related to the Black Storm, which requires taking samples from him.”

“The second direction of the investigation is the Beast Speaker clone, to determine his current energy level, physical condition, and estimated lifespan. An additional option is to find the military technology that can bring him back to life.”

“The third direction of the investigation is more comprehensive, namely, the necessity of the continued existence of Fortress 76 in the medieval basin. We need to give the comprehensive threat level of this place, submit it, and we can end this mission.”

The latest novels are first published on 69shuba!

Shaman asked in a low voice, “So, how should we start our investigation now?”

    Snap!

Aunt Dragonfly slammed a form on the table: “My suggestion is… investigate my ass! Just fill in ‘extremely dangerous’ and have an S-rank psychic destroy this fortress! Who agrees? Who disagrees?”

“We can’t do this!” “I object!”

Shaman and Beta the Tree Man both raised their hands at the same time.

The bear said, “I agree, let’s get straight to the point.”

“Alright, the current vote is three to one.”

Dragonfly Auntie looked at the bear and said quickly:

“According to the principle of majority rule, you, Mane Bear, will be the main investigator this time!”

“Take these two useless… cough, these two strong assistants, raised by the psionic household in the fortress, and go investigate one of the three options above!”

The bear looked puzzled, unable to quite grasp the situation.

No, that wasn’t it just now. It was like this and that, how could it be?

    Bang!

The stealth aircraft’s hatch opens and then closes immediately after a few seconds.

Mane Bear and the two psionicists, still wearing their headphones, stood blankly outside the hatch, facing the endless yellow sand.

The bear’s forehead was covered in black lines, and a withered yellow leaf brushed past the back of its head.

    Inside the aircraft cabin.

Aunt Dragonfly yawned, walked to the small refrigerator next to her, took out a bottle of strong liquor, uncorked it, took two sips, and revealed a comfortable smile.

Shaman asked softly, “Captain, are we not going to do anything?”

“Haven’t we already done it? We’ve deployed powerful humanoid probes!”

Aunt Dragonfly blinked her right eye:

“If the bear dies, the survey form should be filled out as extremely dangerous.”

“If the bear is injured, the survey form should be filled in as relatively dangerous.”

“If the mane bear manages to investigate the interior of the fortress unharmed, then it’s just a regular threat.”

    “Is it unreasonable?”

    Tree Man Beta: “Reasonable.”

    Shaman: “Genius!”

“I’m still on the communication channel!” the bear roared angrily.

    A few hours later.

Inside the fortress city, in elevator number 11, which is rising.

Dressed in combat gear and disguised as a soldier in the mopping-up operation, Wang Jixuan crossed his arms and pondered his brief reconnaissance.

The good news is that he has collected fragments of that crystal.

    There’s also bad news…

Now, a type of energy has emerged that even Master Wang cannot comprehend.

The Blade Beast Nest has begun to be filled. The crystals are fairly widely distributed, and can be found in almost every ‘breeding chamber’, although most of them have been damaged by the insects.

These crystals themselves have a texture like cloudy crystals, growing out of the rock strata in clusters.

As Deepsea previously stated, if anyone tries to pull them out, whether by hand, machine, or psionic power, they will immediately explode, and without protective measures, one could be severely injured by the explosion.

Master Wang originally thought it was a ‘device’ for drawing spiritual energy from the earth’s veins.

【Earth Vein Energy: The spiritual energy contained within the earth, often polluted by impure energy. It is frequently used as the source of spiritual energy for protective mountain formations and is also an important basis for finding underground spiritual mines.】

However, when he carefully probed with his spiritual sense, he found no trace of the earth’s spiritual energy.

This crystal does indeed contain energy, and this energy does indeed originate from the earth, but it is not spiritual power, nor is it something that Wang Jixuan knows about. The Blade Beast can transform this energy into spiritual power.

    Science cannot understand it;

    Even immortals cannot understand it;

‘Could it really be some kind of alien technology?’

‘Ah, these bladed beasts really could be considered an alien invasion.’

Master Wang was a little confused.

He still had several shattered crystals in his backpack, and decided to study them carefully during breaks from his cultivation and weapon forging.

We might discover more of the Blade Beasts’ little secrets.

    “Boss!”

Shen Hai coughed lightly and muttered under his breath as the elevator approached the seventh floor:

“That kind of greatsword… could you get me one too? It doesn’t have to be as powerful as Ling Tong’s, just something like that would be nice, I’d use it to appease my wife…”

“Sure,” Wang Jixuan said with a smile. “Uncle Tai knows what materials I need, so I can just have him prepare them in advance.”

The deep sea felt a great weight lifted off its shoulders.

He had never asked anyone for help in his life, but this time he simply couldn’t resist his wife’s persistent pleading.

    “Thanks.”

“You’re too kind. Please invite me for a cup of tea later.”

    “no problem!”

    Ding ding.

The elevator doors opened, and Wang Jixuan pulled down the brim of his hat, bowing his head as he prepared to step out.

    “Hmph hmph hmph~”

At the edge of his naturally released spiritual sense, Wang Jixuan caught a light humming and a familiar figure.

    The neighbor on the right?

Wang Jixuan used his spiritual sense to carefully investigate and saw the young girl riding a bicycle leisurely past the wheat field.

    Something’s not right.

The dormitory building and the orphanage where she works are in the opposite direction, at least two kilometers apart. How did she end up in a relatively remote location?

Master Wang didn’t want to investigate further.

But a white-clad girl’s silhouette flashed through his mind, surrounded by a faint black aura.

So, Wang Jixuan frowned slightly, said to Shen Hai, “I’m going for a walk,” and walked away with his head down, leaving Shen Hai a little confused.
