    Chapter 9 Eating Fish

Wang Jixuan looked at the two Black Fire Gang assassins lying on the ground, a cold sweat breaking out on his back.

Are these hidden weapons really that powerful?!

He vigilantly looked up at his surroundings and saw the camera rotating in the corner.

Wang Jixuan now knew that these cameras were controlled by the Security Squad of this floor and could see everything.

Wang Jixuan quickly moved forward, deftly picking up a pistol and retrieving the large bag of food he had just thrown.

The two strong men did not die peacefully.

One had a folding knife embedded in his forehead, and the other had a sharp piece of tile deeply lodged in his throat, with some darkened blood already beginning to seep into the metal surface.

At a nearby intersection, several young girls who had come together were so frightened they collapsed to the ground.

The Security Squad was watching this area, so Wang Jixuan dared not stay long.

He identified the direction and hurried towards the passage leading to the safe room, tucking the pistol, which hadn’t been fired much, into his pocket for safekeeping. Just as he was about to enter the passage, he suddenly turned and walked to the other side, disappearing quickly from the camera’s range.

Only the girls’ panicked shouts remained in the circular garden.

About five minutes later, dense footsteps sounded, and Zhou Zhengde led a group of Security Squad members rushing in.

Looking at the bodies on the ground, Zhou Zhengde’s expression clearly grew colder and more severe.

“Search the entire floor! Get the Black Fire Gang people out of here! Otherwise, I’ll fire all of you!”

“Mark Mu Liang as a dangerous individual! He took a gun! Hurry!”

The Security Squad members immediately became flustered.

On the other side, Wang Jixuan stopped running, reoriented himself, and headed towards the street where Mu Liang originally lived.

He wasn’t entirely sure if the so-called self-defense regulations could cover his act of killing two people in retaliation.

    But he was certain:

If he didn’t go to the Lower City to eliminate evil for the Dao Heart now, his Dao Heart would be in utter turmoil!

    They had even bullied him!

Even a Buddha has three parts of fire; a Daoist priest walks freely with a sword!

As for how to get to the Lower City… Mu Liang’s memory had no information.

But it didn’t matter; Wang Jixuan had already thought of a way to enter the Lower City.

The first step, eating fish… “What a bunch of good-for-nothings! You’ve been searching for so long and still can’t find that Mu Liang! Do you still want the Black Fire Gang’s reward?!”

Rotten Fish’s curses echoed through the dark “Capillary” passage.

An ordinary citizen, about to leave, heard the shout, lowered his head, retreated into his house, and closed the door with an incredibly soft sound.

The scolded thugs stood with their heads down, their expressions mostly helpless, with a hint of disdain.

At the end of the passage, the alloy doors of two rooms had been removed, turning the space into a somewhat spacious workshop.

Rotten Fish, whose real name was Rotten Fish, was only twenty-three years old this year but had already gathered dozens of idle young people as his subordinates.

They had their own business—squeezing blood bags.

“Squeezing blood bags” meant finding some timid, easily bullied individuals, robbing them of their universal and food quotas, making them procure food and daily necessities, and after accumulating a certain amount, sending them to the Lower City via some secret downward passages to exchange for rare goods not found in the Middle City.

For example, the holographic projection display screen that Rotten Fish regarded as a “symbol of power.”

The projection display screen’s memory card contained only a few movies from before the Great Cataclysm, which had been played repeatedly for two years, but each time they were played, the thugs would still watch with great enthusiasm.

Rotten Fish was feeling very stifled right now.

    Incredibly stifled.

His neck was wrapped in thick bandages; the wound there was a source of great humiliation for him!

He, a prominent figure in a local area of the Thirteenth Floor, was actually counterattacked by a “blood bag,” who even grabbed him directly and used him to threaten his subordinates not to come closer!

Most critically, Rotten Fish had flinched at the time and initially shouted for his subordinates not to advance.

Fortunately, he later realized that this was detrimental to his authority as a boss and changed his tune, urging his subordinates to attack, saying that he wasn’t afraid of death, and so on.

After this incident, how would the bosses of other districts view him?

How would his subordinates view him?

Didn’t he stand firm in this area precisely because he was ruthless and fierce?

It had been twenty days, and that Mu Liang had vanished into thin air. Rotten Fish had no way to avenge himself, and several fair-weather friends who had followed him previously had already defected to “Super Yellow Hair” in the adjacent district!

Moreover, Rotten Fish also had a little secret ambition.

News had come from the Black Fire Gang that whoever could find that guy named Mu Liang and bring him to the Lower City would get to dine with the Black Fire Gang’s BOSS and receive their gratitude.

Rotten Fish wanted to join the Black Fire Gang.

Rotten Fish often went to the Lower City, so of course, he knew how chaotic it was, but chaos and lack of order were relative to ordinary people.

As long as he became a member of the Black Fire Gang, even the lowest-ranking grunt, he could throw his weight around in the Lower City, without the Security Squad pressing down on him, with countless diversions every day, enjoying cinemas, dance floors, hot girls, contraband. He could even learn a cool robot dance and get a really awesome hairstyle.

The main thing was, there wasn’t a nagging old woman in the Lower City constantly calling him home for dinner.

As soon as Rotten Fish thought of this, a slight smile appeared on his lips, but the hidden pain in his neck quickly shattered the beautiful image in his mind.

    That damned Mu Liang!

    “Boss!”

A few thugs ran over from the end of the aisle and sat carelessly on the dirty, dilapidated sofa.

“They said they didn’t find Mu Liang either! It’s been so many days, could Mu Liang have gone to another floor?”

“Boss, my uncle told me that Team Leader Zhou was transferred from the Upper City and has a strong background. It would be easy for Team Leader Zhou to hide Mu Liang on another floor, right?”

“What should we do? We can’t just tie up Team Leader Zhou and interrogate him. The Security Squad are all armed, and I heard they even have sniper rifles.”

—The news of the recent shooting and counter-kill incident had not yet reached here.

“All of you, shut up! Can’t you be a little more attentive?!”

Rotten Fish slammed the table and yelled:

“This incident happened on our turf!

“Brother Hua of the Black Fire Gang was killed; do you know how big a deal that is?

“If we can’t find that Mu Liang, I’ll chop you all up before the Black Fire Gang gets to me!”

The subordinates shivered a few times.

Although they knew that Rotten Fish had never actually chopped anyone, he had only been to the security station a few times for fighting a few years ago and was a first-class citizen (the lowest rank) with a relatively long criminal record.

Rotten Fish vented his anger, and his mood visibly lightened.

He glanced at the several boxes in the room on his left: “Put these supplies together and see if there’s enough for one box. If there is, I’ll send it down and ask around about the situation.”

“Not enough yet, Brother Yu! We just sent some last week!”

“Not enough? If it’s not enough, what are you all still doing here? Go squeeze some blood from the blood banks!”

Rotten Fish glared with his fish-like eyes and cursed:

“Anyone who dares to resist, hit them! This time, don’t just scare them! If anything happens, I’ll take responsibility for you! Go quickly! What time is it?!”

The subordinates quickly agreed, bowed their heads, and left quickly, leaving only three thugs in the room guarding the cardboard boxes and the holographic projection screen.

Rotten Fish lit a cigarette, curled his left leg, placed it on the side of the chair, looked up at the dim light tube on the corridor ceiling, and slowly exhaled a smoke ring.

He wasn’t actually thinking; he was just spacing out.

He was thinking about that spiked cigarette; every time he smoked it, it felt incredibly comfortable and free, but after smoking, he would fall into a deep emptiness.

    “Who!”

    “Ah!”

    “Brother Yu, help!”

Several shouts, accompanied by screams, suddenly came from the end of the passage.

Rotten Fish froze for a moment, cigarette in mouth, head cocked, instinctively narrowing his eyes, staring at the dim corridor.

The lowest-brightness energy-saving lamp could only illuminate the outline of a figure slowly falling.

Rotten Fish could tell that the one falling was his subordinate.

As if utterly exhausted and falling asleep instantly.

In the shadows at the end of the passage, a figure vaguely stood still.

Rotten Fish’s Adam’s apple bobbed a few times.

He fumbled under the table for a wooden knife handle, drew out a long, slender, sharpened machete, and gripped it firmly in his hand.

    “Who the hell is there?!”

Rotten Fish spat out his cigarette and yelled at the top of his lungs.

The few thugs in the adjacent room stared blankly at their boss, then belatedly got up and rushed out, grabbing several metal pipes, following behind Rotten Fish.

    Whoosh!

A piercing sound of air being torn suddenly erupted!

Before Rotten Fish could react, a dull thud came from beside him. A subordinate clutched his neck, making gurgling sounds, his face flushed red as his body weakly knelt down.

    Ding—

A thumb-thick nut rolled onto the concrete floor.

    Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!

The sound of air being torn erupted in the dark passage!

The three subordinates behind Rotten Fish were hit in the neck almost simultaneously. They couldn’t even let out a cry, one by one slowly falling to the ground, three nuts clattering crisply on the concrete floor.

    Ding ding ding—

Naturally, they couldn’t see the wisps of tiny Qi wrapped around those nuts.

These thugs wouldn’t die; they would just be uncomfortable for a moment, at most fainting from shock or having some minor after-effects.

What, what is that thing… A cold gust of wind from the exhaust vent made Rotten Fish’s back go cold.

His sweat-soaked shirt clung to his back.

His hand, gripping the machete, trembled continuously as he stared intently at the end of the corridor.

    What the hell is this?

How did it do that? A nut?

Is that, is that Mu Liang over there?

Wang Jixuan walked into the slightly brighter area, wearing a mask, hands clasped behind his back, slowly advancing. Every step he took seemed to land on Rotten Fish’s nerves.

Rotten Fish’s nostrils flared continuously. He suddenly let out a meaningless shout, brandishing his machete as he charged wildly towards Wang Jixuan!

    “Ah—”

Wang Jixuan was incredibly calm, unhurriedly taking out the alarm given by Team Leader Zhou, and gently pressing it three times. The alarm flashed a faint red light.

Having done all this, Rotten Fish had just rushed up to Wang Jixuan.

This thug leader, facing unknown fear, actually became ruthless, raising his knife to strike!

Wang Jixuan leisurely pulled a pistol from his In my arms, the dark muzzle pressed against Rotten Fish’s forehead, and he instinctively flipped off the safety.

    Clang, clang clang.

The slender machete clattered onto the metal floor.

Rotten Fish fell to his knees with a thud, his Adam’s apple trembled a few times, and the corners of his eyes became slightly moist:

    “I give up, big boss, I give up, don’t, don’t shoot…”
