Dada da da da —

    Xu Yuan kept firing.

Under the machine gun’s suppressive fire, the human skins that had climbed onto the platform couldn’t charge or run. Their bodies were riddled with bullets, making it impossible for them to approach the defensive fortifications for a while.

    Xu Yuan’s gaze shifted.

He saw those human skins抱 together, intertwining into a single entity, slowly rolling towards the platform —

Bullets blew off countless fragments of human skin.

    However.

This “human skin ball” endured Xu Yuan’s furious barrage, gradually taking shape and transforming into a giant several meters tall.

    Not only that.

From the collapsed tunnel entrance, sounds of rocks being pushed also echoed.

More human skins were about to gather!

Xu Yuan thought quickly, then looked back at his teammates.

Jiang Xueyao was prying more than a dozen gray-white spirit stones from the array disk.

    The consumption was too great!

“How many more times can you do this?” Xu Yuan asked.

“Enough to support five such attacks,” Jiang Xueyao replied.

    Five times?

Xu Yuan grabbed the machine gun, quickly replaced the ammunition box, then clipped several more ammunition boxes onto his combat belt before opening fire again.

    Crash —

The collapsed tunnel entrance was pushed open.

Human skins surged into the subway station like a tide, one by one attaching themselves to the giant monster.

With each additional human skin, the monster’s aura grew stronger.

“This monster can even break through in battle?”

    Xu Yuan was startled.

    Suddenly.

A flash of inspiration struck him.

The words from the walkie-talkie —

“All special action teams, law enforcement teams, military, and police personnel, proceed to Gulou Street Subway Station —”

Everyone was going to that Gulou Street Subway Station!

    Not only that.

Even Xinzhou Subway Station had these monsters appearing.

    And —

The public had been advised to evacuate the subway station.

Without needing Jiang Xueyao to reveal the answer, it was easy to deduce —

The final battle would unfold in the subway tunnel.

    If that was the case.

Staying here any longer was meaningless!

The best option was to retreat immediately before the monsters could charge their position!

Even if there were other threats on the surface —

At least they had moved away from the battlefield of the decisive battle!

“Jiang Xueyao, start the car. Xiaobing, hold the child. Afei, protect us. I’ll cover the rear —”

    “Let’s go!”

    Xu Yuan spoke quickly.

Jiang Xueyao caught the car keys he threw her and immediately headed towards the subway entrance.

Yang Xiaobing and Zhao Afei followed closely behind.

Xu Yuan held the machine gun, continuously firing at the monster.

However, the monster’s movements became more natural and faster.

It suddenly leaped, jumping onto the ceiling, and rapidly approached Xu Yuan using both its hands and feet.

    Too fast!

    — Can’t escape!

    “Xiaobing, make the mushroom flaccid!”

Xu Yuan yelled, continuing to fire his gun.

Yang Xiaobing, who had already reached the stairs, trembled all over, her face flushed. Clasping her small hands together, she quickly performed a spell seal.

    In an instant —

The mushroom suddenly shrank and softened, falling to the floor, limp and unmoving.

    Boom — crash —

    The unsupported ceiling immediately collapsed!

Broken rebar and concrete slabs, mixed with a large amount of soil and rubble, rained down, instantly crushing the monster and piling up into a small mountain on the ground.

Only the monster’s head was exposed; its body was tightly pinned, struggling to get up.

Xu Yuan stepped forward, pulled out a shotgun, and aimed it at its head.

“If you’re still alive, I’ll see you at Gulou Street Subway Station later.”

    Bang!

The monster’s head was blown off with one shot.

Countless shattered human skins scattered, dancing in mid-air.

Xu Yuan pocketed his gun and left, reloading his machine gun’s magazine as he walked, quickly reaching the surface.

    The car wasn’t moving.

“What’s wrong? Is the car broken?”

    Xu Yuan’s heart sank.

“I don’t know how to start a car,” Jiang Xueyao said flatly, tossing the car keys back to him.

    “Me neither,” Yang Xiaobing said.

Zhao Afei stammered, “I’ve seen others start a car, but I’m afraid —”

Xu Yuan breathed a sigh of relief, waving his hand.

“You scared me, everyone get in the car, let’s go!”

How normal it was for high school students not to know how to drive.

Jiang Xueyao was still on the roof of the car, Yang Xiaobing was holding the little boy, and Zhao Afei was in the back seat with them.

Xu Yuan sat in the driver’s seat, his pile of guns on the passenger seat.

“Who saw the street sign — which way is Gulou Street Subway Station?”

    He asked.

Yang Xiaobing pointed in a direction.

“Good, we’re going the other way, as far from there as possible.”

Xu Yuan stomped on the gas and turned the steering wheel. The car roared, quickly picking up speed.

    “Look!” Zhao Afei shouted.

A colossal figure leaped out from underground behind them, landing on the ground with a “thump.”

    It was that monster.

Its head was gone, but its entire body was covered in human skins, each human skin’s head extended, staring intently at the speeding police car.

Countless human skin fragments flew in mid-air, falling down, “growing” onto its neck.

Was it forming a new head?

    Thump, thump, thump —

The monster kept striding forward, its heavy body causing cracks to appear in the concrete road beneath its feet.

    It was picking up speed!

Jiang Xueyao stood on the car roof, watching for a moment, then spoke:

“It has roughly the strength of an eighth-level Qi Refiner; we’re no match for it.”

Xu Yuan silently calculated the time.

Five or six minutes had already passed.

They still had to hold on for another twenty-five minutes to win the match!

    Twenty-five minutes!

    “It’s coming! It’s coming!”

    Zhao Afei suddenly shrieked.

    Almost at the same instant.

The humanoid monster suddenly accelerated again, leaping with all its might —

It significantly closed the distance between them all at once, landing directly a meter or two behind the car, extending its giant human-skin hand —

The car suddenly fishtailed, swerving into a side road and onto the elevated highway.

The monster missed its grab, losing control of its body for a moment, and tumbled onto the road.

“Great driving — but its strength is still increasing, and its speed is faster.”

Jiang Xueyao’s voice came from the car roof.

“I know, that’s why we’re on the elevated highway,” Xu Yuan said.

“What do you mean?” Jiang Xueyao asked.

Xu Yuan didn’t answer, simply stomping on the accelerator, making the car accelerate again.

There were many cars on the elevated highway, either involved in pile-ups or burning, emitting thick black smoke.

The police car moved like a flexible fish, weaving through the vehicles.

    After driving for a while.

Xu Yuan suddenly felt something was wrong —

Had the monster given up the chase?

    That shouldn’t be.

    Could it be —

    Xu Yuan suddenly shouted:

“Xiaobing, send out the white crane to scout the surroundings, quickly!”

    “Ah, okay!”

Yang Xiaobing pulled out a talisman, quickly folded it into a paper crane, and tossed it out the car window.

A white crane soared into the sky, circling and flying.

    Almost immediately —

The white crane let out a series of cries.

Yang Xiaobing’s face paled, and she immediately said:

“That monster is climbing and jumping on the bridge columns, it’s already caught up to us ahead, it’s about to —”

Before she could finish her sentence.

A colossal object flipped up from beneath the bridge, appearing directly in front of the police car, blocking its path.

    It was the human-skin monster.

    Its head had grown back!

“Everyone else jump out of the car — Jiang Xueyao, you’re up!”

    Xu Yuan shouted.

“I understand what you mean,” Jiang Xueyao said, her lips curling slightly.

She pulled out the array disk and tapped it lightly.

The array disk immediately glowed with spiritual light.

    “Go.”

    Jiang Xueyao said softly.

A wisp of spiritual light flew from the array disk, materializing once again into the phantom of a giant hammer, smashing towards the human-skin monster.

    “Aah aah aah aah!”

The human skins all over the monster roared in fury, meeting the giant hammer with a full-force strike.

    Clang —

The giant hammer was shattered by it, and it was also sent flying, tumbling violently towards the edge of the elevated highway.

If it fell from there, it would at least be severely injured, if not die.

    Most importantly —

This would buy them a lot more time.

But the human-skin monster, unhurried, opened all its dense, numerous heads and bit firmly into the ground.

Its countless heads and teeth scraped against the ground, emitting a long, ear-splitting screech.

    Finally —

The enormous monster stopped at the edge of the elevated highway!

    “Arrogant fools.”

    The monster hummed.

    The next instant —

Xu Yuan drove the police car directly into it, crashing hard against the monster’s body.

    Thud!

    A dull thud.

The two-ton police car, on a full-speed collision, even though the monster was almost stable, couldn’t withstand it.

It directly smashed through the concrete guardrail and fell off the elevated highway.

The police car screeched to a halt.

Xu Yuan opened the car door, unbuckled his seatbelt, and climbed out.

He saw Jiang Xueyao grabbing Zhao Afei’s collar, and Yang Xiaobing holding the little boy; they had already jumped out of the car.

The four of them stood to the side, watching him.

“You almost went down with the car just now.”

    Zhao Ajiu said.

“You’re insulting my skill,” Xu Yuan replied.

He walked to the railing of the elevated highway and looked down.

The monster had fallen heavily onto the concrete ground below, creating long cracks in the pavement.

    Even the bridge deck vibrated.

But it was still alive, slowly crawling up from the ground, looking up.

The monster’s gaze met Xu Yuan’s.

“I will eat you all, one by one — especially you, I will eat you very slowly.”

    The monster said calmly.

“I appreciate the offer, but I haven’t pooped in three days,” Xu Yuan calmly retorted.
