Lan Hao, surveying the crowd, his voice like clanging iron, said, “Your Excellency Qing Cang, I’m looking for Wan Chen. I want to ask him what right he has to disregard Su Chen!”

He knew Qing Cang was observing Su Chen, so he deliberately started the conversation this way.

As his words fell, Wan Chen’s eyes deepened considerably.

Qing Cang frowned slightly, his eyes revealing an unspoken meaning.

As for Chong Jingtian, his eyelids twitched. It seemed Su Chen was caught in some trouble. Indeed, there was discord within this group.

Lin Yue wore an expression of someone watching a good show.

“Where does his arrogance come from?” Lan Hao continued. The three of them only had a superficial relationship to begin with. After seeing their professional spirituality, the judgment between them was immediately clear, and even maintaining superficial relations felt lazy.

    Related to Su Chen?

Qing Cang looked at Su Chen, seeing his placid expression, then at Wan Chen, and finally asked Lan Hao, “Why do you say that?”

“Su Chen mentioned a challenge to Wan Chen a few days ago, but he said there was no need. Isn’t that a bit too arrogant?” Lan Hao replied without hesitation.

These words were all conveyed by Su Chen. He was now playing the role of someone speaking up for justice. Even if Su Chen lied, he wouldn’t have any problems.

A challenge? Qing Cang’s gaze fell on Su Chen. Was he going to defeat the Twin Dragons?

He immediately understood. Su Chen had a calm heart, but not enough, or rather, he was a bit impetuous in this matter, likely induced by Lan Hao.

However, it was quite normal. After all, he was young. How calm could he really be?

Challenge Wan Chen? Chong Jingtian looked at Su Chen, who stood behind Lan Hao looking rather meek. His mouth twitched slightly. Would this kid be so reckless?

Lin Yue’s eyes flitted. This handsome young man was quite bold.

However, he was probably being used by Lan Hao, but there was nothing to be done, given that his home planet was facing a crisis.

Qing Cang pondered for a moment, then asked, “Wan Chen, is this true?”

Wan Chen glanced at Lan Hao, then at Su Chen, already guessing what was going on. His eyes couldn’t help but carry a hint of pity. What an idiot he was.

Wan Chen nodded, his voice calm, “It is true, but my response at the time was that we are all friends, and such a challenge would hurt feelings, so there was no need.”

Su Chen also nodded, “Your Excellency Wan Chen did say that.”

Lan Hao, however, said coldly, “A challenge is not a death match. Even if one is confident of victory, it can still gain experience. How can there be no need?”

“So, you want me to accept the challenge?” Wan Chen fixed his gaze on Lan Hao, retorting.

Lan Hao’s heart fluttered with a tiny bit of joy. Su Chen was right behind him, but he didn’t ask for the other’s opinion, stating bluntly, “What if it is?”

Qing Cang saw the two of them pushing Su Chen up, and his expression became somewhat displeased.

Su Chen might not have seen it, being caught in the situation, but he saw it clearly.

But at this very moment, Wan Chen sighed, “Since that’s the case, I will accept your challenge, Lan Hao.”

“Good—” Lan Hao’s heart thumped, then his eyes widened in surprise, “Who?”

Qing Cang’s expression froze slightly, and his gaze swept over Su Chen behind Lan Hao. His eyes couldn’t help but show a hint of admiration.

Restrained and calm, good, very good!

He could even guess what Lan Hao had said to Su Chen, and from Su Chen’s perspective, many things were urgent, like the Sacred Feast crisis.

To be able to control his inner desires, recognize himself, and even outsmart Lan Hao, this mental fortitude was truly rare and valuable.

A barren planet like this truly tempers people.

Chong Jingtian shook his head secretly. He knew Su Chen was a sly one. These people didn’t know him well and thought he could be easily manipulated because of his youth.

Lin Yue was a bit lost. Wasn’t that short handsome guy challenging Wan Chen? Then she glanced at the somewhat dazed Lan Hao and vaguely realized what was happening.

“Me challenging you?” Lan Hao still seemed to be processing it.

Wan Chen glanced at Su Chen, seeing his continued composure. He couldn’t help but sigh in his heart, marveling that even when seeing an enemy fall into a trap, he could remain impassive.

He was well aware of Lan Hao’s intentions and was now somewhat annoyed. Without any reservations, he said directly, “Brother Su Chen came to me a few days ago, saying you had the idea of challenging me and asked for my opinion.”

“I said we were all friends, and it would hurt feelings, so there was no need. Since you insist now, I can only agree.”

“You—I—” Lan Hao understood immediately after hearing this that he had been played. Su Chen had looked so honest, but he was completely aware of his intentions.

And he, thinking the other party had already fallen into the trap, didn’t recognize this guy’s sinister intentions and was instead outmaneuvered.

A burst of anger surged in his chest, but he had nowhere to vent it. He couldn’t very well say he still thought Su Chen was going to challenge Wan Chen, as that would make him look even dumber.

He could even imagine Su Chen, standing behind him, with a face full of mockery.

Seeing Lan Hao’s suffocated expression, Wan Chen’s pity almost overflowed.

Qing Cang shook his head secretly. What a pity for the reputation of Lan Hai, to have such a son.

“Why didn’t you—think about it, if I wanted to challenge, why would I ask him to relay the message?” In the end, Lan Hao could only manage this one sentence.

“I did think about it, and so I politely declined Brother Su Chen. I didn’t expect you to come so aggressively today, so I can only agree,” Wan Chen said, feigning helplessness. “Of course, if you don’t want to now, I don’t care either.”

Lan Hao’s expression became increasingly ugly and difficult to control. He was already lacking confidence, which was why he had pushed Su Chen, but now he had trapped himself. To back down now would clearly show he was afraid of Wan Chen.

If this plan had succeeded, even if others saw through it, they wouldn’t expose it. They would only say he was far-sighted and that Su Chen was too reckless.

But now, instead of playing someone, he had been played himself. If he didn’t even dare to fight, it would be more than just embarrassing.

“There’s nothing I’m unwilling to do. I’ve long wanted to seek guidance,” Lan Hao said in a deep voice, facing the situation.

“Since that’s the case, let’s go,” Wan Chen immediately stood up.

Lan Hao snorted condescendingly and finally turned his head, ready to see the look of mockery on Su Chen’s face, even preparing for verbal taunts.

However, he found that the other’s expression was no different from when he had followed him in.

It seemed that playing him didn’t give this guy any sense of accomplishment.

Lan Hao’s eyes were almost spitting fire. This kind of contempt humiliated him far more than a few taunting words.

Su Chen simply turned to the side, letting a few people pass first, and trailed behind with Chong Jingtian.

“What’s going on?” Chong Jingtian sent out a mental wave.

“The tree wants to be still, but the wind keeps blowing,” Su Chen shook his head.

This kid—he sure knows how to coin phrases, Chong Jingtian muttered to himself, reminding him, “Qing Cang seems like a good person, and he seems to favor you quite a bit. He should protect you.”

This was to tell him not to be afraid if anything really happened.

Su Chen nodded, but he felt another gaze fixed on him. He turned his head and saw Lin Yue, looking quite curious.

Seeing her staring at him, Su Chen also stared back. Neither of them spoke.

Soon, Lin Yue gave up, moving her gaze away. What kind of person was this?

There was a designated combat area on the spaceship, surrounded by special metal inscribed with unique symbols.

As the two entered, Wan Chen said, “You and I are of similar age and rank. If you defeat me, it would truly be a feat of defeating Twin Dragons, and if word gets out, it will cause quite a stir.”

Lan Hao was feeling frustrated and didn’t bother to chat much, “Less talk.”

Wan Chen’s eyes narrowed slightly. Truly—giving face but not taking it!

“Your mind is quite sharp, ‘defeating Twin Dragons’ sounds good,” Qing Cang and the others stood on the periphery, suddenly speaking. “But achieving it is extremely difficult.”

Is he talking to me? Su Chen’s heart stirred slightly. “Lan Hao is sure to lose?”

“Absolutely,” Qing Cang said with certainty. “Their foundations are almost identical, but Wan Chen’s talent is extremely high. At the same age, he has more time to prepare for special professions beyond his main one.”

As his words fell, the fighting had already begun on the platform. Wan Chen’s body surged with violent purple electricity, and arcs of electricity coiled around his arms like giant snakes.

Lan Hao’s body ignited with azure flames, forming a spinning fiery barrier in front of him.

The professions of both were somewhat similar in affinity to the Great Venerable Scarlet Flame and Thunder. Qing Cang couldn’t possibly have brought ice element professionals.

Though Qing Cang’s gaze was on the arena, his attention was focused on Su Chen. He sent out another mental wave, “Do you resent me?”

“Huh?” Su Chen paused, a bit slow to react.

Qing Cang continued to speak to himself, “I descended from the heavens, took away what you had guarded for so long without a word, and then refused to eliminate the Sacred Feast disaster. Don’t you resent it?”

“Not really, just a little helpless,” Su Chen thought for a moment and said, “It’s unreasonable to pin one’s hopes on the kindness of others.”

“Why helpless?” Qing Cang was a little surprised by this answer.

“You came too fast, and I still don’t have the right to control my own destiny,” Su Chen replied honestly. Qing Cang paused, then suddenly burst out laughing, drawing sidelong glances from those around him.

“Hahaha—’to control one’s own destiny’ indeed!” Qing Cang then said, “It’s not that I’m unwilling to eliminate the Sacred Feast disaster, but I can’t.”

He explained, “The Nethermist isolates everything. All detection equipment is unusable. This planet is enormous; to search for it bit by bit, to comb through it inch by inch, is simply too late.”

“Furthermore, if the Nethermist is not removed, there will eventually be a second time. With so many people, it’s impossible to transfer them all out. Doing anything more would be in vain.”

Qing Cang was almost completely satisfied with Su Chen, finding no faults. Now, naturally, he wanted to resolve Su Chen’s misunderstanding of him.

Planets covered by the Nethermist were all like this; the root of all problems lay in the Nethermist. “Is that so—” Su Chen watched the battle on the stage. The two were entangled, purple lightning and blue flames intertwined, creating a huge commotion.

However, once a certain limit was exceeded, the overflowing energy flow would be absorbed by the surrounding symbols, confining the battle to a specific area.

He pondered, could the Bronze Ancient King achieve that?

Chong Jingtian’s gaze kept oscillating between the two of them, sensing the fluctuating mental waves, wondering what they were communicating about.

“Tsk—Wan Chen has improved a lot,” Lin Yue suddenly gasped in admiration.

In the arena, the two figures intertwined amidst thunder and flames. In close combat, Wan Chen’s elbow strikes carried purple lightning afterimages, each afterimage like a solid lightning blade cutting through the air.

Lan Hao blocked with his forearm, and azure flames instantly expanded into a shield at the point of contact. The purple lightning danced on the shield’s surface, emitting a sharp scraping sound like glass.

Purple lightning snakes and blue fire pythons tore at each other, their unleashed energy tearing burnt marks into their battle suits.

Wan Chen suddenly changed his move, forming his five fingers into a claw to grasp the opponent’s throat. The purple lightning entwined around his fingers transformed into five distorted plasma streams.

As Lan Hao leaned back, he simultaneously struck upwards with his knee. The blue fire ring brought up by the knee strike was about to push away the grapple, but Wan Chen was faster. Even though he couldn’t seize Lan’s throat, he followed through downwards, pressing down on his shoulder.

His attack was extremely vicious, three fingers embedding themselves firmly into the opponent’s scapula, a squelch! Three bleeding holes appeared.

Lan Hao let out a pained cry, his face becoming even more ferocious. He spread his arms in the fiery storm, and blue flames erupted from his pores, coalescing into a phoenix with spread wings, its aura surging and intense.

Wan Chen, however, merely sneered. There was no obvious change in his body, only the purple electric arcs surged with greater intensity.

After a moment of contemplation, Su Chen asked, “Your Excellency Qing Cang, when the spiritualities combine, may I also try it?”

“Naturally,” Qing Cang agreed without almost any inquiry into the reason.

He was indeed very satisfied with Su Chen, but it was not yet time to lay out his cards. There was one thing that needed to be resolved, and that was Su Chen’s lingering dissatisfaction.

Even if Su Chen performed exceptionally well, he didn’t believe Su Chen had absolutely no thoughts about the Great Venerable Scarlet Flame and Thunder. He must have had some, but he suppressed them.

If he didn’t let Su Chen try it himself, and see the gap with his own eyes, this dissatisfaction would accompany him his entire life, even leading to resentment.

And before that, he didn’t want Su Chen, due to his change of status, to develop some inappropriate thoughts about Wan Chen and the others.

The best time would be when the dust settled and Su Chen recognized the disparity. Although it might be a bit cruel to him, he ultimately had to go through this process to be most secure.

And as he expected, Su Chen indeed brought up this matter.

Su Chen was a bit surprised; the simplicity of the matter far exceeded his imagination. He had thought Qing Cang would at least hesitate for a moment.

Was this a sign they thought he was hopeless? Su Chen pondered, saying, “Thank you.”

    “It’s over,” Qing Cang said.

Su Chen then looked at the arena. Wan Chen had already stopped, his body no different from before the battle.

Lan Hao’s face was pale, half-kneeling on the ground, blood flowing from the holes in his shoulder and the wounds on his chest.

“The gap between these two isn’t small,” Su Chen was thinking about his own matters. He hadn’t seen the final clash, but looking at the situation, he could see the difference.

Moreover, Lan Hao’s strength was not as strong as he had imagined.

Indeed—his talent was similar to Hong Xuan’s. Time is fair to everyone. Even if he devoted it to developing his main profession, there wouldn’t be extra time to pursue more special professions.

As he thought, Su Chen’s expression suddenly hardened. He saw green flames slowly ignite on Lan Hao’s skin.

And where the flames covered, the bleeding holes in his shoulder and the wounds on his chest were slowly healing.

“Is this a self-healing profession?” A flicker of light passed through Su Chen’s eyes.

Lin Yue, beside him, couldn’t help but show a hint of envy, “Blue Flame Undying Bird, so convenient. If his system were complete, he could repair himself in battle too. Wan Chen might not necessarily be able to handle him.”

Blue Flame Undying Bird? What is that, a title? This guy can have a title too?

And what did “complete system” mean? Su Chen felt curious.
