Chapter 11: The Victim Blocks the Door, Threatening

“That’s what he said.” Li Ming explained carefully.

He actually wanted to keep the money, but the dormitory would be cleared at night, and he had to go out no matter what.

After much thought, he decided to deliver the message honestly.

Su Chen realized that they would inevitably meet, which made him feel troubled.

This guy had ulterior motives and he didn’t know what kind of game he was playing with Jiang He.

But as expected, they were clearly using him as a breakthrough point, and Jiang He also knew that he was being used as bait.

“I understand. Go and tell him that I’ll be down in a bit.” Su Chen nodded.

Li Ming felt as if a great weight had been lifted and turned to leave.

    “Wait…”

His steps stiffened. He really wanted to ignore everything and rush downstairs, but after weighing his options for a moment, he reluctantly turned around.

“Here you go.” Su Chen flicked a gold coin, which Li Ming hastily caught, somewhat surprised.

“Thank you…” He uttered two difficult words before heading downstairs.

Su Chen thought about it and simply returned to his room to continue improving his Candlelight Training mental exercise.

Since they were going to meet eventually, it was better to meet later, tomorrow even. Anyway, he wasn’t hungry now.

Time passed, and the artificial light of Southwind City gradually turned into a soft, earthy yellow.

Downstairs in the dormitory building, Jiang He’s victim husband looked up coldly, staring at a certain floor.

Early the next morning, Su Chen woke up leisurely and stretched. He had been exhausted from exercising both his body and mind from yesterday afternoon until night, so he had slept soundly.

It was relatively safe here. Southwind Academy was headed by the City Lord. The last time an internal student’s death was reported was three years ago, and the City Lord personally sent people to investigate three times, implicating nearly a hundred people before stopping.

The progress on the panel was obvious.

    [Strongman: 3%]

    [Candlelight Training-Proficient: 15%]

He had already broken through his limits three times, and the requirement for [Scholar] had been reduced by another three months.

The reduction in years was not fixed; once it was directly reduced by two months, which was much faster than he had imagined.

This visualized progress allowed him to see the rewards of his every effort, motivating him greatly.

“However, now I really have to go out.”

After washing up, Su Chen rubbed his stomach and muttered to himself, “He didn’t wait downstairs all night, did he?”

The moment Su Chen walked out of the dormitory building, he felt a gaze fall upon him. Following it, he saw a figure standing under a thick yellow maple tree opposite.

He was wearing a custom black-brown suit, meticulously tailored, and he was indeed handsome, with refined features and charming blue eyes.

He really waited all night, Su Chen thought with emotion.

Their eyes met, and Qi Chuan stared at Su Chen silently. He was indeed good-looking, no wonder his wife was interested in him.

This kid had been intimate with Jiang He in their home, so he should know his appearance. He tried to find panic and apprehension on Su Chen’s face, but there was only a calm expression.

How could a lover caught by the spouse not feel guilty? Qi Chuan thought of the teasing from yesterday and felt even worse.

He thought about it, but made no move, just stayed where he was, waiting for Su Chen to come, taking the initiative.

As a result, Qi Chuan’s face darkened, and he saw Su Chen turn around, seemingly wanting to go back. Out of necessity, he had to shout, “Su Chen!”

Many students passing by gave them strange looks but didn’t pay much attention. Qi Chuan felt annoyed. He walked behind Su Chen and, as a preemptive strike, said in a deep voice, “Do you dare to do it but not admit it?”

Su Chen slowly turned around, “Who are you?”

“Stop pretending, I’m Jiang He’s husband!” Qi Chuan lowered his voice. The security guards in the dormitory building stared at the two suspiciously.

“Oh, a fellow traveler, my apologies.” Su Chen looked enlightened.

Qi Chuan was stunned for a moment, then sneered, “You’re so fearless, thinking Jiang He has your back?”

“No, I just see you, Senior, as a gentle and refined person, definitely not someone impolite.” Su Chen explained.

Qi Chuan frowned slightly. This guy’s reaction was unexpected, making it difficult for many of his prepared statements to be used. He still said coldly, “Why did you play me yesterday?”

“No, I’m here, aren’t I? It’s just that there’s been a bit of a delay.” Su Chen asked, puzzled.

Qi Chuan paused. He stopped trying to talk nonsense and said in a chilling tone, “Kid, don’t think you can rest easy. Aren’t you curious why your departure time from the city changed from three months to half a month?”

“It wasn’t half a month before?” Su Chen looked confused.

Qi Chuan felt a surge of anger. This kid didn’t seem like an ignorant low-class vagrant. He had thought that mentioning Jiang He’s husband status would make him flustered.

However, threats and intimidation seemed to fall on cotton, igniting his anger.

“No, old man, what do you mean? Don’t you big shots just play around? Don’t you have a lover?” Su Chen pretended not to understand. “Are you really enraged just because I slept with your wife?”

Qi Chuan’s eyes flickered. This kid was smarter than he had imagined, so he had to try a different approach.

The sinister look on his face disappeared, replaced by a calm one. He led Su Chen to a corner and lowered his voice, “You’re a smart person, so I’ll be direct. I want to know what exactly happened that night.”

“That night?” Su Chen was surprised. He looked Qi Chuan up and down, then hesitated before speaking.

Qi Chuan’s eyes were deep. Su Chen’s reaction fell into his gaze, and he knew that this kid indeed knew something.

“You big shots, you’re really incomprehensible…” Su Chen mumbled, looking troubled. He sighed, “Forget it, you are Jiang He’s husband after all, so I can understand…”

“That night, I went to find her… she took off my clothes… the red wine spilled… her face was flushed… I said… she said… her voice was very… we had a great time…”

Qi Chuan listened attentively at first, then his face gradually turned ugly, and he roared, “Enough!”

His eyes were sinister, and fierce flames almost spurted out. Although he harbored ulterior motives, how could he remain truly calm when he heard about his wife’s erotic encounter?

Can eyes spew fire? What kind of profession is that? Su Chen subconsciously thought.

“Why are you angry? You told me to talk. I thought Teacher Jiang He was joking when she said you had a special fetish.” Su Chen backed away repeatedly, looking bewildered, “I didn’t want to talk about it anyway, and I don’t have special fetishes.”

A special fetish? Qi Chuan’s expression changed, and he understood what the other party meant by “fetish.” Red lines appeared on his cheeks.

No… He took a deep breath, suppressing his anger again. The abnormal changes on his body gradually disappeared, and he tried his best to speak calmly, “That’s not what I want to know.”

“Then what do you want to know?” Su Chen frowned.

Qi Chuan remained silent, looking at the seemingly confused guy in front of him, feeling unable to see through him, and almost losing control.

“…Southwind Academy is the cradle for cultivating the backbone of Southwind City. Each batch of students will select a group of people for key cultivation, with resources, status, knowledge… everything available.” He stopped interrogating but said slowly:

“Since you are a smart person, you should understand that Jiang He cannot invest much resources in you. Tell me what you know, and I can arrange for you to be on the key training list.”

“Even, I can postpone your departure date from the city, so you have some means to protect yourself.”

Su Chen said helplessly, “What exactly do you want to know?”

Qi Chuan stared at him, no longer forcing the question, but handed him a gilded card and said indifferently, “Think carefully. When you figure it out, break it.”
