    Chapter 645: Here!

    The Church.

Uncle Seven was busy in the back kitchen.

Shen Ye and Xu Xingke sat on chairs outside the door, watching passersby.

“It’s been half a day,” Xu Xingke said.

“Yes, we haven’t opened yet,” Shen Ye replied.

“Strange, I’ve tried those dishes, and they all taste quite good. Why isn’t anyone coming to eat?”

Xu Xingke, with a cigarette in his mouth, looked somewhat puzzled.

“Perhaps—” Shen Ye was about to speak when he suddenly closed his mouth.

A fashionable girl with a mechanical skeleton covering her entire body, save for her human head, walked past them.

“Is she pretty?” Xu Xingke asked.

“She is pretty, but she probably doesn’t need to eat,” Shen Ye said.

    She doesn’t need to eat.

So, she wasn’t a potential customer of the “Holy Church.”

No need to pay attention to her.

“Not a single customer in half a day…” Shen Ye stood up, brushed off the nonexistent dust from his clothes, and prepared to go out.

“Where are you going?” Xu Xingke asked.

“Teacher, I used to be in sales—I’m going to walk around and do some market research.”

“Oh, go ahead. I’ll watch the store here.”

“Teacher, this is the Holy Church, not a store.”

“It’s all the same. There’s nothing shameful about making money.”

Xu Xingke waved his hand, signaling him to go browse.

Shen Ye had just walked a short distance when he suddenly heard voices behind him.

    He turned back.

He saw several bizarrely dressed men gathered at the entrance of the Holy Church, talking with Xu Xingke.

    What’s going on?

    Shen Ye hurried back.

By this time, Xu Xingke already had a few cards in his hand, and it looked like a fight was about to break out.

    “Teacher!”

    Shen Ye quickly stopped him.

“They said they came to collect a debt from someone named Wyatt—is that true?” Xu Xingke asked in a low voice.

“Ah, yes, that’s right, it is!”

Shen Ye suddenly realized, then quietly explained the situation.

Xu Xingke’s expression relaxed somewhat and he didn’t say anything more.

—It was only natural for people to come and collect debts.

    Besides, they weren’t after him.

    “Gentlemen.”

Shen Ye took a few steps forward and said,

“Wyatt is no longer part of our ‘Godslayer’ Sequence. If he owes you money, you should go find him.”

The men exchanged glances, then all looked at the man with a mohawk and sunglasses.

“Wyatt is hiding from us. Do you know where he is?”

    The man with sunglasses said.

“Sorry, I can’t find him either,” Shen Ye replied.

“Then pay the protection fees for the past few months,” the man with sunglasses said.

The smile on Shen Ye’s face vanished.

    “Protection fees?”

    Xu Xingke repeated.

The man with sunglasses said, “That’s right, Wyatt has been three months overdue. I took one of his kidneys, a heart, and some blood and bone marrow—”

    “How will you pay?”

The men all looked at Shen Ye and Xu Xingke.

—As if looking at a pile of goods.

Shen Ye said with a smile,

“You see, we two are new here and unfamiliar with the rules of your territory.”

“Could you please explain the situation with these protection fees?”

A thin minion next to the man with sunglasses shouted,

    “You don’t even know this?”

“Indeed, we do not,” Shen Ye said.

“Alright, I’ll tell you plainly, this entire street is the territory of our ‘Burning Blood Bionic’ Sequence.”

“For you ‘Godslayer’ Sequence members to live here, you must pay.”

    “Especially you two newcomers.”

Shen Ye waited for the other party to finish, then smiled and said, “It’s our first day, and we’re not familiar with the environment. How about giving us a few days to prepare?”

    The minion impatiently said,

“Normally, that would be fine, but tomorrow, strange monsters will attack the city. The higher-ups ordered us to act quickly.”

    “Pay up today.”

“Otherwise, your church won’t be able to stay open.”

There was a moment of silence.

“Why are we paying you protection fees, and not the other way around?”

    Xu Xingke asked.

Shen Ye inwardly cursed, thinking this was bad.

Teacher was just too straightforward; he couldn’t stand this kind of thing.

    In reality.

To survive in the world, sometimes you have to be more flexible, and know how to solve problems in a reasonable way.

—Using violence for every problem is not advisable.

    “Wait a moment—”

Shen Ye quickly interjected, “Besides organs, what else do you accept?”

    The men laughed.

The man with a mohawk and sunglasses said,

“If you really have no money, sell your relatives. That can cover a few months’ fees.”

    “Wyatt did the same.”

    Before his words settled.

A chilling flash of blade light penetrated everyone, then instantly withdrew.

    Clang!

Shen Ye sheathed his blade, his eyes cold.

“You executed the first move of ‘Three Spring Glories’ blade art, ‘Chill,’ activating area-of-effect ‘Bind.'”

    “You struck once.”

    “Combat ended.”

    A cheerful whistle sounded.

Xu Xingke, carrying a bronze cauldron, slowly walked past Shen Ye and said,

“You’re just too straightforward; you can’t stand this kind of thing.”

“In reality, to survive in the world, sometimes you have to be more flexible, and know how to solve problems in a reasonable way.”

“—Using violence for every problem is not advisable.”

    “Understand?”

Shen Ye lowered his head, his face full of bitterness:

    “Teacher is right.”

—These people belonged to the same “Burning Blood Bionic” Sequence.

    No doubt.

There must be higher-level sequence holders behind them.

That sequence called “Burning Blood Bionic” probably wouldn’t let things go just like that.

However, Shen Ye and Xu Xingke remained calm.

—This was a battle for their foothold.

Having emerged from a sea of blood and corpses, they both knew very well that this battle was inevitable.

    Living like Wyatt?

    Absolutely not!

Xu Xingke placed the bronze cauldron outside the Holy Church, then stepped forward and reached out to grab the men’s heads.

—Grabbing them by their hair, a gentle tug, and their heads came off.

“But then again, your swordsmanship is quite good.”

    Xu Xingke praised.

    Seven or eight heads.

He placed them all neatly into the bronze cauldron.

    “Teacher, what are you doing?”

    Shen Ye asked.

“First, set up a ‘Jingguan’ (capital view), then once enough have been killed, we’ll cook them,” Xu Xingke said.

—This was a display of attitude and intimidation.

    Shen Ye’s mind was racing.

    A bit troublesome…

    Fighting was not an issue.

But at the very least, Xu Xingke needed to become a low-level sequence holder and gain the “Godslayer” sequence’s blessing!

“Open for business… how can we open for business?”

Shen Ye muttered in a low voice.

    He looked around.

—The battle just now caused a commotion.

Many people fled this area of the street.

But some powerful professionals stood on the sidelines, watching the show.

    Offending the “Burning Blood Bionic”?

This was going to be a lot of fun!

“Walk by, don’t miss it! Come take a look, everyone!”

    Shen Ye suddenly shouted loudly.

He carried a bowl of soup from the room, served it in small bowls, arranged them on a tray, and walked towards the professionals nearby.

“Hey, what exactly are you trying to do?”

    A spectator shouted.

“Our soup is a healing potion that can heal your injuries,” Shen Ye said.

    Healing?

The noisy and chaotic scene suddenly fell silent.

“Families, monsters are attacking tomorrow, but we have healing soup for sale here!”

    Shen Ye shouted.

    Good timing.

—Uncle Seven’s sacrificial ritual had always been able to heal the faithful.

Now was the time to showcase the product’s power!

“I’ll try it, but if it’s not as you say, I will get angry.”

    A professional said.

His left side was entirely mechanical, but one could see slight bleeding at the seams where the machine met flesh. —This was an immune rejection reaction from AI modification.

Monsters were attacking the city tomorrow.

It was not suitable for another surgery now.

This professional also took the small bowl from Shen Ye with a try-it-out mentality.

He tilted his head back and drank the potion.

    “Hmm…”

The man let out a soft groan, the pain on his face fleeting.

    “Another bowl.”

    Everyone heard him say this.

    Clink, clank—

Several shiny metal coins landed on Shen Ye’s tray.

Shen Ye handed him the bowl, then turned and gave the tray to Xu Xingke.

    “We’re open for business.”

    Xu Xingke said.

    Boom—

A fierce white light suddenly burst from him.

Lines of微光小字 (microluminous characters) appeared in the void:

    “Current mission completed.”

“Xu Xingke has become an official Sequence Holder, his strength has increased by one rank, and he has loaded Level 1 ‘Godslayer’ Sequence, gaining the corresponding divine spell:

    “Return City.”

“Description: Opens a spatial channel, allowing the being at the opposite coordinate to return to the Church.”

    —Wyatt also had this skill!

    In short—

Teacher had become an official Sequence Holder!

Shen Ye breathed a sigh of relief, about to continue selling the soup, but saw that all the onlookers had dispersed.

    The street became deserted.

Many nearby shops closed their doors and windows.

Even the professional who had drunk two bowls of healing soup quickly ran off.

    “What’s going on?”

    Shen Ye asked.

“The debt collectors were killed, so naturally, they need to establish their might, otherwise, how can they continue to thrive?” Xu Xingke sneered.

“I also want to see the power of the old order,” Shen Ye said.

Through the series of encounters earlier, he had a pretty good idea.

—After all, his true strength lay in the bizarre.

    The next moment.

Shen Ye and Xu Xingke suddenly looked towards the end of the street.

    A mech stood there.

    No—

It should be said, it was a robot.

But it had a human face—

Although its face was made of alloy, it vividly displayed human appearance and spirit.

“It’s been many years since anyone dared to be so arrogant.”

    The robot said.

It stared at Shen Ye and Xu Xingke, walking towards them step by step.

    From all directions.

Countless robots blocked the entire street.

A battle between two Sequences was about to erupt!

“These guys are a bit like robots, but I also feel like they’re human.”

    Xu Xingke crossed his arms.

“I feel the same,” Shen Ye said.

“Let me try them out. They’re not bizarre life forms, so they shouldn’t be ridiculously strong.” Xu Xingke reached for a card.

Shen Ye clutched his saber handle,

    hesitating slightly.

    —Xu Xingke possessed a Manifestation.

On the other shore, Manifestations are grotesque shadows, powers of the bizarre.

So why do we humans who survive in the myriad worlds generally acquire bizarre powers?

We should be stronger than the humans on the other shore, right?

But the other shore also has Sequences.

Without a fight against the experts here, we really can’t grasp the true nature of Sequences!

    Let’s attack together!

As he pondered, a voice suddenly sounded in his ear:

“I’ve been watching from the sidelines for a long time.”

“Let me gauge the level of these people.”

    —White Emperor!

This one was a life form of laws, formed by countless laws fused together across the myriad worlds!

Categorically, it was essentially a bizarre life form!

Shen Ye pondered for a moment, and an idea suddenly struck him.

“With these inhuman, ghost-like things, there’s no need to talk about martial ethics. Let’s all attack together!”

    He shouted loudly.

“Who else wants to make a move?” Xu Xingke asked.

    “A friend, we’ll fight like this…”

Shen Ye quickly said a few words, Xu Xingke and White Emperor listened carefully, and then immediately made a decision.

    But—

    The robots stopped.

All the robots froze in place.

    Ding!

A soft voice rang out from the robots:

“According to the latest geological predictions, this battle will trigger a city-wide earthquake, with a certain probability of awakening dormant underground volcanoes.”

“The volcano was just detected and contains extremely powerful forces that could destroy the entire Star-Moon City.”

    —Combat warning!

    Everyone looked at each other.

    Earthquake?

    Are we still fighting?

“Finish them quickly, kill these little punks!”

    The leading robot shouted.

    Rumble—

A lightning bolt descended from the sky, striking it.

This lightning seemed different from ordinary lightning, carrying a destructive power.

The robot immediately fell to the ground.

    It made no more movement.

    The whole scene was silent.

    Struck by lightning—

This was an extremely low-probability event.

    How did it just happen?

Another robot stepped out and shouted loudly:

“It’s nothing, I’ll take command now, everyone, give me—”

    Boom—

A crater opened in the ground.

The robot instantly fell down, making no movement for a long time.

The other robots reacted quickly, scattering immediately. They waited for a while before circling back.

Far below the pit, there was a scorching river of lava.

The robot fell in and didn’t get back up.

    —It was melted.

In the lava river, a towering black volcano trembled slightly.

It could erupt at any moment!

    The next second.

Another alert sounded on all the robots:

    “Warning!”

“An asteroid carrying thirty-six laws is approaching.”

“The probability of impact is increasing.”

    Suddenly—

“Receiving sequence notification, all units, retreat!”

    A robot shouted.

    “Quick! Quick! Quick!”

“Anyone who dares to interfere will be executed on the spot!”

Other robots also seemed to receive the relevant message.

Not a single one remained; they all retreated.

    Shen Ye was stunned.

He turned to look at Xu Xingke.

Xu Xingke held a handful of cards, the phantom of his Manifestation almost visible behind him, and a puzzled expression on his face.

“How can it be such a coincidence?”

    Xu Xingke murmured.

“Indeed, even a world-destroying asteroid appeared… who is it?” White Emperor also asked.

“I don’t know either,” Shen Ye said.

    Suddenly.

Shen Ye noticed faint halos appearing above his and Xu Xingke’s heads.

At this moment, the two looked like angels.

They looked up at the void together—

Lines of微光小字 (microluminous characters) appeared before them:

“The exiled Emperor has returned to the other shore.”

“The master of the bizarre has also begun a new plan.”

“Doomsday also calls upon all his comrades in arms.”

“—All of this points to the final battle.”

“The ‘All-Knowing, All-Powerful Lord’ has perceived all this and begins to inject true power into your ‘Godslayer’ Sequence.”

“From this moment on, the ‘Godslayer’ Sequence has truly awakened.”

“You and your companion Xu Xingke have received the basic blessing of the ‘Godslayer’ Sequence:”

    “God is with you.”

    “‘Omnipotent’ Holy Light Crown.”

“Description: God will occasionally bestow miracles upon you.”

“—The power of ‘Omnipotence’ has made its first formal appearance.”

“—You know how to activate this power.”

Shen Ye quickly finished reading and subconsciously looked at his tray.

That professional had paid with a few metal coins.

They were clearly on the tray—

But now, not a single one was left.
