Chapter Index

    “Synchronization Rate: 57%.”

“Synchronization Time: You will exit this synchronization when other personalities issue a switch request.”

    “Start synchronization?”

The faintly glowing small characters flickered before Shen Ye’s eyes.

The synchronization rate had significantly increased, and the synchronization time had also completely changed.

Shen Ye, however, had no time to ponder.

A gigantic white pillar of light descended from the sky, directly destroying the opposing soldier along with his manifestation, blasting a massive crater in the ground.

    The earth trembled incessantly.

The howling wind swept up the snow on the ground, transforming the entire world into a frenzied white.

The little girl turned her head and spoke:

“Baxter, Charlotte has fallen into a coma, but more enemies are coming.”

    “We’d best get moving.”

—Her eyes had turned deep blue.

    Peaso!

Shen Ye couldn’t help but ask, “Why has Charlotte fallen into a coma?”

    “Overexertion,” Peaso replied.

Shen Ye looked around at the sky and the earth.

The previously manifested figure had vanished like a dream, disappearing in an instant.

    So—

That strike had eliminated the enemy in front of them.

But that strike summoned a great many spirits, and it seemed to be more than just that…

As if knowing what he was thinking, Peaso explained:

“Charlotte summoned the endless ‘aether’ of the Numinous Realm, creating countless beings with the spirits of the Numinous Realm, descending upon this world.”

“—Her soul is weary from controlling those beings.”

    Shen Ye fell silent.

    Created countless beings?

    Are you kidding me?

In religion, this is a power possessed only by an omniscient and omnipotent God.

“I know what you’re asking. Yes, if she wanted to kill, just now—all living beings in the world would have died.”

    Peaso said calmly.

“No one could resist? What about those powerful practitioners?” Shen Ye asked.

“Eighth or ninth-rank powerhouses might be able to, others not so much—this is an ‘aether’ surge from the Numinous Realm, manifesting as countless spirits, creating or destroying everything according to her will,” Peaso said.

    “God,” Shen Ye mumbled softly.

    Just a tiny bit more.

If he hadn’t interfered with her meeting with her parents, perhaps after she transformed into her dark personality—

At this moment, the world would have been transformed into a massive graveyard.

    If that were the situation—

    How did Charlotte survive afterwards?

    Unimaginable.

“Baxter, let’s go. I can’t fight, and I don’t know any movement techniques,” Peaso said.

Shen Ye stepped forward, merging with the little girl.

    The little girl sighed tiredly:

“My body is so tired. I can barely lift my feet.”

The Big Skeleton’s voice then rang out:

“How about I carry you for a bit?”

“Mmm, my body needs rest. Thank you,” the little girl said.

A six or seven-meter-long skeleton flew out of the void, landing on the ground with a “kukukakaka” sound, transforming into a skeleton warhorse.

The little girl looked at the skeletal frame and frowned:

“Your bones are too hard. I can’t take a long journey like that.”

The skeletal warhorse spoke in human tongue: “To change my image, I’ve decided not to transform into a Skeleton King anymore.”

“But you can transform into the magnificent Black Tortoise,” Shen Ye said.

    “Black Tortoise? What’s that?”

“A kind of deity, with the appearance of a turtle.”

    “So, still a king.”

“No, a turtle is a turtle, a king is a king, it’s different. Even ordinary turtles in our world are called Ninja Turtles.”

    “Turtle god…”

    “Right, feeling it yet?”

    “But what’s the difference?”

“That’s definitely different—a turtle’s back is more stable, more comfortable, with patterns, exuding a sense of luxury and elegance.”

“That means the shell is different!” the Big Skeleton exclaimed.

“Exactly! See what I mean? You’re absolutely brilliant!” The little girl gave a thumbs up.

    “I’ll try…”

Only a “jijikaka” sound was heard, and the skeletal warhorse transformed into a skeletal giant turtle.

The little girl climbed onto it with effort, tapped the turtle shell, and praised:

“Look at these patterns, this hardness. You’ve completely escaped the low-brow taste of a king—now you’re a Ninja Turtle!”

The Big Skeleton heard the word “god” and immediately became spirited, saying:

    “Go! Leave this place quickly!”

As it spoke, it had already begun to move its four claws, crawling towards the distance.

Despite being a turtle, its crawling speed was not slow, and there was even a sense of “sprinting.”

    More remarkably—

    It was very steady.

The little girl lay on the turtle shell, slowly recovering her energy.

    Right.

Now all the satellites in the world had been shot down by her.

The heavy snow would quickly erase the tracks of the skeletal divine turtle.

That would make it even harder to find her whereabouts.

It should buy some time, right?

The little girl leaned on the turtle’s back, silently contemplating what to do next.

    After a while.

    A city appeared ahead.

It was still dark, barely past three in the morning.

    The entire city was quiet.

The skeletal turtle carried the little girl forward, passing several traffic lights, its speed gradually slowing.

    “What’s wrong?”

    The little girl asked curiously.

    The big turtle said, “Strange—”

Before it could finish speaking, it suddenly vanished.

The little girl turned mid-air, landing unsteadily on the ground.

    “Big Skeleton? Feylin?”

    The little girl called out.

    No one responded.

    Strange…

The little girl subconsciously looked around, her eyes suddenly directed towards one direction.

    Not far from her.

A skyscraper with red exterior walls came into view.

    This was—

This was the building where Nancy’s parents lived!

    Why had she come back?

The little girl stood still, completely bewildered.

    Come.

In the void, a consciousness was calling out to him.

The little girl subconsciously walked over, standing at the entrance of the red building.

She looked up into the building and immediately saw someone.

    A little girl.

She looked exactly like Nancy in appearance, height, hairstyle, and even clothes.

“I’m Nancy, who are you? My sister?”

The little girl stood on the stairs, tilting her head, asking curiously.

Bright and dim lights emanated from her, revealing black cracks in the void.

Outside the building, the little girl couldn’t help but take a step back and shouted:

    “Who exactly are you?”

The little girl inside the building smiled triumphantly and cheered, “I am you.”

The little girl outside looked up at the clock hanging in the corridor.

    Time—

    Two seven a.m.

When she had arrived at this building earlier, before going up, it was approximately this time.

    —Had time rewound?

But if it was a rewind, why was there another Nancy?

The little girl quietly placed her hand behind her back, ready to summon a door at any moment.

Just then, the little girl inside the building spoke:

“I admit, I was toying with you from the start.”

“No matter how hard you and Charlotte try, as long as she returns to see her parents, I will be born, and everything will then fall into place.”

    “I didn’t expect—”

“Baxter, you really have a way, forcing me to put away my playfulness and come out personally.”

“You are going to die here, and it’s ludicrous that your understanding of truth and aether is so shallow, you can’t even save Charlotte, Nancy, and Peaso.”

The little girl smoothed her hair and began walking upstairs.

She suddenly stopped, turned back to look at the little girl outside, and said:

    “You wouldn’t understand my magic.”

    The little girl outside trembled.

Earlier, when she and Nancy had returned to her home, she had also said to the Demon of Fear, “You wouldn’t understand.”

—This little girl was the Demon of Fear!

Now it was returning that sentence!

    Inside the building.

The little girl suddenly disappeared from the corridor.

    After a while.

A series of sounds suddenly erupted from a certain floor of the building.

    Crying, screaming, shouting.

    Crashing, smashing, cursing.

    This was—

The little girl suddenly let out a tired, cold voice:

“This is what was supposed to happen.”

“Hurry, Baxter! Now immediately retreat to the position where we fought before, that is the only way, otherwise it wins!”

    —Charlotte!

She only controlled the body for a moment, finished speaking, and then vanished.

A skeletal turtle rushed over on the road.

“What just happened? Why did you disappear all of a sudden?”

The skeletal turtle urgently cried out.

“Go, back—to that place!” The little girl scrambled onto the turtle’s back.

The skeletal turtle immediately turned around and rushed back the way they came.

    The little girl looked back.

She saw the red building erupting with endless black light, shooting straight into the sky.

Countless black figures flew around the building.

    Immediately after.

    The earth cracked open.

    The void also cracked.

The world split in two from the position of the building.

An endless dark abyss rapidly spread towards the skeletal turtle.

“If you touch it, you’ll die. Run!”

Charlotte said, switching personalities back to Shen Ye.

    Now Shen Ye was anxious.

“Big Skeleton, turn into a warhorse, and run at full speed!!!”

The little girl shouted loudly from the turtle’s back.

“Understood!” The big turtle leapt up, transformed into a skeletal warhorse in mid-air, and galloped forward at full speed.

    Its speed immediately picked up.

The sky-piercing crack instantly swept towards the skeletal warhorse, but the warhorse deftly dodged it, even accelerating further.

The little girl broke out in a cold sweat.

“Can you speed up any more?”

    She asked loudly.

“I can’t, I’m already giving it my all!” the skeletal warhorse neighed.

This was already the outskirts of the city.

If they could run a little longer, they could return to the previous field path.

This was the place Charlotte mentioned.

“Come on!” The little girl cheered on the skeletal warhorse.

    The next moment.

The dark crack rapidly extended forward.

Everything in its path was erased into nothingness.

This time, its speed became even faster, even more despair-inducing.

The skeletal warhorse couldn’t dodge it!

    “It’s over.”

The warhorse let out a mournful cry.

The little girl, however, was not resigned, reaching back with her hand, she shouted:

“Stop for me—even if only for a second!!!”

A faint glow immediately appeared as small text:

“You activated the Tarot augmentation: Myriad Laws Severing.”

“This is the power of the ancient Tarot sequence obtained by the number one on the Hidden Dragon List.”

“Target designated and isolated from the Numinous Realm, lasting for three seconds!”

—No matter what spell the Demon of Fear used, ultimately, it had to mobilize the aether of the Numinous Realm.

Could the power from the Tower of Tarot isolate this spell from the Numinous Realm?

Only to see a sudden change—

The black crack had already caught up to the skeletal warhorse, but at this critical moment, it suddenly stopped.

Seizing this opportunity, the skeletal warhorse let out a furious roar and sprinted forward with all its might.

    One second.

    Two seconds.

    The black crack suddenly moved!

It seemed to become even more furious, and its speed increased even further.

    In an instant.

It had caught up to the skeletal warhorse.

    “Shen Ye!”

The skeletal warhorse cried out in shock and anger.

“I know.” The little girl suddenly opened a door.

She and the horse rushed in.

Directly arriving at a snow-covered field path.

—This was the very place where Charlotte had fought the soldier before!

“Why didn’t you teleport earlier!” the Big Skeleton complained.

“I was running and studying the crack at the same time,” the little girl said with a serious expression.

The black crack was too strong.

It contained the laws of space, time, and fate, capable of erasing everything.

How could one possibly deal with this?

Just as she was thinking, she saw the crack rapidly spreading from a distance.

    “Go.”

    The little girl shouted.

However, a hand gently pressed against her.

    “Wait.”

The owner of the hand said.

The crack rapidly advanced, but it stopped before the skeletal warhorse, unable to move forward even an inch.

Because a slender woman quietly appeared, blocking the black crack.

    —Charlotte!

The real Charlotte, who met Shen Ye after she grew up!

The little girl sat on the horse’s back, stunned, and said in a childish girl’s voice:

    “Adult.”

Charlotte pressed one hand on her shoulder and the other pressed against the crack from a distance, a faint smile on her face, seemingly in a very good mood.

    “It’s about to begin.”

    She said.

“Huh? What do you mean, Adult?” the little girl asked.

    Charlotte said:

“The Demon of Fear was immersed in this deepest memory, always toying with you and me, but it didn’t expect you to turn the tide with a small incident.”

“—It finally activated the spell it had set up at the very beginning.”

“I don’t understand, what kind of spell is this?” the little girl asked.

“This spell is called ‘Soul-Life Establishment.’ It transforms your world into a past world of my memory, and the fate of all beings is thus altered to match the past world.”

“—This is the Numinous Realm’s ninth-rank ‘Soul-Lord’ professional skill, capable of turning any memory into reality.”

“But you caused a deviation in that memory, and that’s what makes it interesting.”

Charlotte seemed to find it amusing and continued:

“If the Demon of Fear doesn’t immediately correct everything, then my childhood will always be inspired by love.”

“Many dark personalities will no longer be able to emerge.”

“It sensed this possibility and immediately activated ‘Soul-Life Establishment’ to correct fate back.”

The little girl listened intently, then said somewhat dejectedly:

“Can this spell just change results? Then anything I do is useless.”

“Quite the opposite, Baxter.” Charlotte said.

She turned her head, looking at the little girl kindly, and reached out to stroke her head.

“It thought it had a sure win, so it personally showed itself to toy with you and me.”

“But I hid and never appeared, so it could only amuse itself with you, unable to find me.”

“I was waiting in the shadows for an opportunity—”

“Until now, it’s out in the open and had to actively cast that spell, which exposed a flaw.”

    “My chance has come.”

    She moved her hands slightly.

    The spell was complete.

The little girl seemed to realize something, suddenly looking up ahead.

    The world trembled incessantly.

The sky-high crack slowly transformed into a mirror.

Wind, snow, field paths, night, and the distant road with dim streetlights were all reflected in the mirror.

    The world.

    And the mirrored world.

“You trapped it in the mirror?” the little girl said, surprised.

“Not exactly,” Charlotte said, “It wants to preserve the past, and I need to change the past.”

“—Now there will be two parallel past worlds alongside each other.”

    “They exist in parallel.”

The little girl was utterly shocked, and couldn’t help but say, “Then how do we determine who wins?”

“One piece of good news, one piece of bad news, which do you want to hear first?” Charlotte asked.

“The bad news, I guess,” the little girl said.

“The Demon of Fear has set up many traps in this world, always thinking there was no need to use them, so it didn’t activate them—but now, it might change its mind,” Charlotte said.

“Then isn’t it invincible? I can’t go to a parallel world to kill it!” the little girl said.

    “So there’s also good news.”

    Charlotte revealed a meaningful smile:

“That ‘One Man Myriad Lives’ spell before was released by both my younger self and me at full power. The Demon of Fear mistakenly thought it caught it, but it actually didn’t. The real effect of this spell is—”

“In the parallel world where the Demon of Fear exists, all life will be replaced.”

“In that world, everyone is me.”

    The little girl froze.

    There was such a spell?

This spell didn’t seem any worse than “Soul-Life Establishment.”

    “Baxter—”

“It’s hard to survive in this world, but at least you don’t have to face the Demon of Fear directly.”

“You and my five-year-old self will work together.”

“As for the Demon of Fear—I will kill it myself!”

After Charlotte finished speaking, she took a step forward and disappeared into the flowing mirror-like parallel world.

The entire world, like a blazing flame and dazzling ripples under the direct sunlight of an afternoon, rapidly flowed away.

    One world moved on.

From now on, the two worlds were separated from each other.

    Parallel world.

Charlotte landed and stood in the snow.

A little girl in a red robe stood opposite her.

    —The Demon of Fear.

“You were waiting for me?” Charlotte said, somewhat surprised.

“Yes, I didn’t expect the truth back then to be like that… Actually, I’ve always been curious, but it no longer affects me. The outcome between us is about to be decided,” the Demon of Fear said.

“This is just the beginning. You want to dissolve my personality, and I want to dissolve yours. Who will win is still unknown,” Charlotte sneered.

The Demon of Fear’s tone was exceptionally calm:

“A parallel world… your scheme is not bad. This way, I will indeed have to re-live the past process, facing countless dangers.”

“But I have to say, the you in the other parallel world is about to die.”

“How can you be so sure?” Charlotte asked.

    The little girl said:

“I left behind all my negative personalities.”

“They all stayed in your parallel world, ready to eliminate the you who changed the past.”

“This time, I won’t pretend to watch.”

    “You can count down.”

“—It will only take about five seconds.”

    In the other world.

The little girl (Shen Ye) stood in the snow, watching that world gradually disappear, and couldn’t help but sigh:

“So now it’s a race to see who dies first, right?”

    Speaking of death.

Then it’s necessary to set a respawn point first.

The last respawn point was set as Shen Ye.

Now that she could synchronize with the little girl at any time, it would still be set as the little girl.

Just as the little girl was about to act, a sudden, inexplicable sense of unease welled up in her heart.

    “Go.”

She unhesitantly opened a door and stepped through.

    Almost at the same moment—

    Boom!!!

A gigantic hand descended from the sky, striking the snowy ground like a meteor, causing the earth to deeply indent.

The little girl gripped the doorknob, struggling to close the door.

    In the final instant.

She saw the giant hand covered in slender black snakes, all spitting venom towards her.

    Bang!

The moment the door closed, everything vanished.

The little girl let out a long breath, slumping to the ground.

    She was almost hit!

She sat on the ground, panting continuously.

    Careless.

Her designated door coordinate was that snowy field, so if she used “Astral Shift” to teleport, she would only arrive back at the same place.

If she used the door’s original power of inter-realm connection to go to Twilight Star—

Twilight Star was located above the abyss of “Termination,” going there meant certain death.

So she made a decision in an instant.

This was the Panda Detective Agency!

    The little girl looked around.

    The agency was empty.

Panda Tieren wasn’t here, probably his memory was also altered, and he was returned to the mountains.

The old friend bidding farewell to the panda enclosure, only the empty agency remains here.

    Stop!

Why am I even thinking about these things?

The little girl shook her head, conjured an ice mirror, and directly activated “My Reflection in the Mirror” to change the revived character to the little girl.

After doing this, she finally felt a bit safer.

    Alright.

Now, she’d just lay low here.

God knows what contingencies the Demon of Fear had left in that world.

    The further away, the better.

    “Can’t stay here.”

    The little girl suddenly spoke.

    —This was Peaso’s voice.

    “Why?” Shen Ye asked.

He found himself being ejected again.

“If we don’t appear in the memory for too long, other personalities will try to replace us, and then we won’t be able to go back even if we want to,” Peaso said calmly.

“How long is ‘too long’ in your estimation?” Shen Ye asked.

    “7 hours.”

Shen Ye felt a tremendous headache.

So, he couldn’t just lay low.

But if he went back, he’d have to face that giant hand covered in black snakes.

That aura was at least Numinous Realm rank eight or above.

He couldn’t even use the worms’ power now.

    He simply couldn’t win.

Shen Ye walked back and forth in the agency, pondering bitterly, trying to find a path to survival.

It was only two or three in the morning.

Twilight Star would still need about ten hours to sweep across the entire abyssal zone.

There was another teleportation point in the Ice and Snow Forest.

That place had already been flattened by a nuclear bomb.

“Peaso, what’s the situation in the Ice and Snow Forest?”

    He asked.

The little girl said calmly, “Don’t bother imagining it. I just saw that as soon as we teleported to the Ice and Snow Forest, we were swallowed by a giant maw.”

    Shen Ye momentarily froze.

    How could it—

How did it suddenly become so dangerous?

    No.

He had to find a way to sneak back.

    Sneak back…

A flash of inspiration suddenly struck Shen Ye’s mind.

    He stopped in his tracks.

    Right.

I possess the abilities of “Door” and “A Meeting at the Jasper Pool in Moonlight” two future-category powers.

How could this situation stump me?

    “Manifestation descent, Guanghan Palace.”

    He murmured softly.

Palaces, like a succession of towering peaks, rose from behind him, emanating a vast and pervasive chill.

    —Charlotte was right.

Muttering “Manifestation descent” indeed made the manifestation stronger!

“Peaso, you are someone who can see the future. What’s the situation now in the snowy field?” Shen Ye asked.

“It seems… the owner of that giant hand has temporarily left and is searching for you nearby, but it could return at any moment,” Peaso said.

“Excellent! There’s no other way now, we just have to try.” Shen Ye said.

“I’m giving you control of the body, be careful.”

    “Okay.”

Shen Ye and the little girl synchronized once more.

—Now he was the little girl.

As she willed it, a line of faint text suddenly appeared in the void:

“You used the future-category keyword ‘A Meeting at the Jasper Pool in Moonlight’ to place yourself within the manifestation.”

The little girl stood before the palace, shouting loudly:

    “Four Kings!”

    Swish, swish, swish, swish—

Four figures leaped over the palace walls, tumbling through the air, landing gracefully before the little girl.

    “Get me a boat.”

The little girl waved at them.

The Four Kings nodded, moving in unison towards the small grove of trees.

The little girl waited in place.

The Big Skeleton appeared quietly, lowering its voice:

“What are you trying to do?”

“That world is completely different; going back openly might cause problems,” the little girl said.

    “So?”

    “Smuggle, brother!”

As she spoke, the Four Kings returned to the little girl with a small wooden boat.

    “Get ready, we’re boarding soon.”

    The little girl said.

The Four Kings nodded, uniformly put on life jackets, and then handed one to the little girl as well.

Without a word, the little girl put it on and boarded the boat.

“Big Skeleton, you guard the manifestation, we’re going to scout ahead.”

    The little girl said.

“Be careful on the way,” the Big Skeleton replied.

The little girl nodded, then pressed her hand against the void.

    A door quietly appeared.

    Pushing the door open.

—On the other side was the field path on the outskirts of Gaea City!

The little girl made a forward gesture.

The Four Kings gripped their wooden paddles, rowing vigorously forward.

    The small wooden boat moved!

The boat swayed, sailed through the door, and landed on the field path on the other side of the door.

    Just one second passed.

    Boom—

The giant hand returned, striking the ground heavily.

The door linking the two worlds was instantly shattered.

But it didn’t hit the boat.

—The boat had already been smuggled into the Numinous Realm!

The Big Skeleton stood in the manifestation, silently watching this scene until the gate shattered and all sights disappeared.

    It couldn’t help but sneer.

    “Still so arrogant?”

“If I don’t steal so much from you that even your parents won’t recognize you later, then I don’t deserve to be called Saint Peach!”
