Chapter Index

Tiny shimmering words appeared beside him:

“You activated ‘Shadow of Heaven’. You are now hidden in the target’s shadow.”

Shen Ye stepped out of the shadow, flicked the blood off his dagger, and re-sheathed it.

Big Skeleton whistled and quickly said:

“People are approaching fast from the southeast, southwest, and northwest directions.”

“How many people in total?” Shen Ye asked.

    “Eight!”

    “Good.”

Shen Ye took out a bottle of orange juice and drank it.

“Hey, hey, they’re almost here!” Big Skeleton reminded him.

“So I’ll drink some water first,” Shen Ye said.

“A reminder, drinks can’t replace water. Water is the healthiest beverage.”

“You know that?” Shen Ye was surprised.

“Of course, you don’t know how painful osteoporosis is…” Big Skeleton mumbled in a low voice.

As they spoke, rustling sounds came from the surrounding jungle.

    Two, three, three—

The young masters from the noble families emerged one after another, looking at the scene before them.

    Shen Ye.

He stood in front of two corpses, talking to himself.

Everyone was stunned for a moment, then immediately reacted and called out:

    “He’s here!”

    “Found him!”

    “Two guys messed up.”

“Great, he’s ours, no one snatch him from me!”

Shen Ye’s gaze swept around, and he suddenly saw an old acquaintance.

    The white-shirted youth.

Fourth on the newcomer leaderboard, a young master who had fought him at the banquet with the World Serpent.

Enemies meet, eyes blazing with anger.

The white-shirted youth jumped out, pointed at Shen Ye, and shouted, “Everyone, this kid is slippery, let’s all go at him together!”

Shen Ye couldn’t help but laugh:

“You’re just saying that because you can’t beat me yourself, so you want everyone to attack together, right?”

The young masters were no longer in a hurry.

    Eight against one!

The prey was firmly in their grasp.

One of the young masters scoffed:

“Aren’t you ranked fourth? If it weren’t for that snake your family gave you, do you think you’d have the right to speak here?”

The white-shirted youth froze, but didn’t dare to say much.

—He only had one companion, and that was a temporary alliance.

On the other side, there were three people.

“Shen Ye, right?” the young master who spoke just now stepped forward, “To be honest, I admire your skill and your courage, but to say you’re stronger than me, I absolutely won’t admit that.”

“What do you want?” Shen Ye asked.

“Let’s all go!” the young master shouted.

    Shen Ye’s mouth twitched.

He spoke so beautifully; I thought you were different from the white-shirted youth.

Turns out, you’re all cut from the same cloth!

    “Wait a minute!”

A young master with a longbow suddenly spoke.

He seemed to have quite a reputation, and as soon as he spoke, everyone immediately looked at him.

“How about this: the first person to injure him, and the last person to kill him, will get sixty percent of all rewards! The others will split the remaining forty percent!”

“It’s settled then—or rather, does anyone object?”

    The bow-wielding youth looked around.

The others met his gaze and instinctively lowered their heads, not daring to say anything more.

Even if someone wanted to propose a new idea, seeing the bow in his hand, they rationally shut their mouths.

    It was settled.

    Shen Ye was speechless.

—I’m still alive, and you’re already figuring out how to split the loot?

    I’m not playing anymore!

    He turned and ran.

    The youths immediately pursued him.

Thus, a rare scene appeared in the jungle—

One youth sprinted ahead, while eight others chased relentlessly behind him.

“I told you already, why aren’t you running faster? Look! That guy just pulled out an arrow, ready to shoot you.”

Big Skeleton said, half complaining, half reminding.

    “Shoot me? He wishes!”

    Shen Ye snorted.

    —Actually, this moment was crucial.

He looked back, assessed everyone’s speed, and pulled out his free attribute points, holding them back for now.

This way, there was no need to fake or hide anything—

The speed he displayed was the speed he ran at with all his might.

    It wouldn’t be higher.

It would only decrease over time as his stamina was depleted.

    “Faster!”

    “He won’t last long!”

    “Go!”

    The people behind shouted.

Shen Ye suddenly swayed, dispersing into seven or eight stream-like figures.

    Swish—

An arrow brushed past him, arcing in mid-air, accelerating back towards him.

    Ricocheting arrow?

Shen Ye was surprised for a moment, and his body flickered out a few more afterimages.

    That was close!

Fortunately, his agility had already increased to 16.1 at this point. Combined with the Flowing Moon movement technique, he narrowly dodged the arrow.

The instant the arrow passed him, Shen Ye unleashed a palm strike.

    Thunder Shock!

The arrow was finally struck down and broke, falling to the ground.

“How dare you break my family’s revered arrow, you deserve to die!”

    The youth roared in anger.

Shen Ye’s expression remained calm, and he accelerated again, sprinting forward.

    Eight young masters.

One had the World Spirit Serpent, one had tracking arrows.

    What about the other six?

… He needed to find a way to deal with them.

    About half an hour later.

The two sides, one in front and one behind, chased each other without slowing down.

Shen Ye was a little tired.

“Hey, save some energy for the fight,” Big Skeleton said worriedly.

    “It’s fine.”

    Shen Ye looked back.

All eight of them, not one less, were still hot on his heels.

The young master with the bow raised it several times, but had to lower it again because the distance wasn’t enough.

    Stamina…

Everyone’s stamina had been significantly depleted.

    Shen Ye’s thoughts stirred.

Faint light gathered, forming lines of small text in the void:

“As you continued to run, your stored physical energy has been significantly depleted. You currently have only 1.1 left.”

“You have invested 3 attribute points into Strength.”

“Your physical strength has recovered to 4.1.”

    “Remaining free attribute points: 7.”

His body was once again filled with strength, his stamina was abundant, and his legs swung wide, accelerating rapidly forward.

He ran for about another ten minutes.

“Damn it, are you even human?!”

A hysterical roar came from behind him.

“You can’t even catch up, and you want to kill me? A bunch of trash!”

Shen Ye shouted loudly without looking back.

    The others fell silent.

They pushed themselves and continued to chase.

    Keep chasing.

    Keep running.

    Another ten minutes passed.

“Damn Shen Ye, you bastard—you bastard—stop!”

This time, the shout carried a hint of exasperation, rattling like an old, broken bellows.

    “Then you guys keep up!”

Shen Ye shouted, and suddenly looked up at the sky.

A rumbling sound came from deep within the sky, and a mass of white, shimmering objects fell towards the earth.

    *Pat.*

A cold, oval-shaped object landed in front of Shen Ye.

    —Hail!

    Shen Ye suddenly understood.

The “wilderness survival” wouldn’t be so simple; there must be various challenges.

He didn’t hesitate to throw two free attribute points into Agility.

After thinking for a moment, he allocated two more free attribute points to Strength.

With this, his stamina was abundant, and his agility was high. Moreover, since this was dense forest, many hailstones were blocked by large trees, making dodging possible.

A line of faint light appeared:

“The free attribute points you used require a certain amount of rest to gradually recover to 10 points.”

    What’s that!

Free attribute points are meant to be used!

Shen Ye let out a long breath, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and took a few gulps of mineral water, feeling a sense of exhilaration.

    This marathon was quite satisfying.

He’d sweated, burned calories, lost some weight in the process, and led his enemies on a wild goose chase.

He didn’t stop, continuing to sprint through the thickets.

The eight young masters gritted their teeth and chased bitterly.

    “Ow!”

One of the young masters suddenly cried out.

No need to guess, he must have been hit by hail.

    The rain.

    It grew heavier.

The entire world seemed to be under a hail attack.

Shen Ye was also quickly reaching his limit for dodging.

Looking back, those young masters had gradually stopped, beginning to defend themselves against the hail from the sky.

Even with trees all around, they couldn’t withstand this level of hail.

Even large trees began to collapse.

It was simply a terrifying natural disaster!

    What to do?

    “Retreat! Retreat first, find cover!”

    The bow-wielding youth shouted loudly.

The others followed his command, all turning back.

    Shen Ye stopped.

    What?

    You’re not chasing anymore?

    How can that be!

“Hey, weren’t you going to kill me? Giving up already?”

    Shen Ye shouted loudly.

The young masters ran headlong, no one paying attention to him.

“Are you stupid? They ran away, isn’t that your chance to escape?”

Big Skeleton couldn’t help but exclaim.

    Shen Ye spat and said:

“They want to kill me, they come. They want to avoid hail, they run. Don’t I have any pride?”

“Then what do you want?” Big Skeleton asked, exasperated.

    “It’s either them or me!”

Shen Ye turned around and chased after the fleeing youths.

He suddenly put all his attribute points into Agility.

    Three steps.

    Two steps.

His figure flashed, covering tens of meters, and merged into the shadow of one of the youths.

This young master had been the most aggressive in the chase, so now that they were running back, he naturally fell behind.

    *Poof.*

Night Curtain pierced through his chest.

The youth was stunned, stopped, and looked down at the sword in his chest.

“I am the descendant of a noble family, you—you dare—”

He seemed somewhat unable to accept it.

“Dare to kill you.” Shen Ye finished his sentence for him, then slapped out a palm.

The youth fell to the ground, motionless.

    First one!

    No, wait!

These guys all had many trump cards when they came for the exam.

So, was he completely dead or not?

If he left, and the guy got up and ran away, wouldn’t that be a waste?

    “Hey, are you dead yet?”

    Shen Ye asked uncertainly.

    “Dead,” the corpse replied.

“Good that you’re dead.” Shen Ye felt relieved and continued to chase forward.
