Chapter Index

    Deep underground.

The Emperor Species floated in mid-air, flicking the eight long tails on its back, sweeping away all attacks from the Spirit of Magic.

Even a rule-based spell would be instantly knocked away if hit.

    Boom–

The castle was constantly being destroyed by various spells.

“How disappointing, an entire castle of Spirit of Magic, none of them qualified to fight me.”

The Emperor Species said, then paused.

    The Human expert was gone.

It suddenly realized something and flew out of the castle, looking into the distance.

The giant, who was initially covered in pipes, was slowly opening its eyes, and all the pipes on its body had detached and disappeared.

“I thought it looked familiar… This is the corpse of the World Will, and it’s in your hands!”

    The Emperor Species said.

The giant opened its mouth, and Xu Xingke’s voice came out:

“I have improved its power, hoping to fight you again.”

The Emperor Species stared at the giant, a hint of recollection in its eyes, and said in a deep voice: “Thousands of years have passed in a blink of an eye, the poison I left on the corpse has lost its effectiveness, I didn’t expect you to find a loophole.”

“—Is it still called ‘Ancient Town Tomb Guardian God’?”

“No,” the giant rumbled, “it’s now called ‘My son just hit me’.”

    “Courting death!”

The Emperor Species flashed, instantly crossing the dark void, and pierced directly through the giant’s chest.

“Hahaha, you haven’t even repaired its wounds, and you want to fight me like this?”

    It laughed maniacally.

    Suddenly.

A certain call came from the void.

    “Fan upon food.”

    —This was the agreed-upon signal.

The slave who had defected had found food, and it could now go and eat.

The Emperor Species immediately sensed it, and its expression became hesitant.

    This was its command.

And if it could replenish energy, it might not be a bad thing.

After all, the Chaos Spirit Light had appeared once.

It was lurking in the dark, coveting everything.

—It couldn’t let it profit from their struggle.

This was also the reason why it hadn’t used its full power.

As the Emperor Species was contemplating, the giant immediately noticed its hesitation.

    “Good opportunity!”

The giant let out a roar, pulling back and throwing a punch.

Despite its enormous size, the punch was as swift as lightning.

The explosive roar only sounded after the punch reached the Emperor Species.

    —Thump!

The Emperor Species hastily met the punch and was immediately sent flying.

It flew hundreds of feet in the darkness, a trace of blood oozing from the corner of its mouth, instantly igniting its ferocity.

“No need to play with you anymore.”

“—Within three moves, everything about you will be ended by me!”

The countless slender arms on its head all stood upright, forming various spell seals.

The immense killing intent was almost tangible.

It was time to show its true power!

    However, the next second.

Another voice appeared in its ear.

“…Emperor… I have found the core of the Seal of Fate for you, smash it, and you’ll win!”

    Thump thump thump thump thump—

A series of dense shattering sounds suddenly echoed in the void.

Those were the void shockwaves caused by the emergency interruption when the countless arms on the Emperor Species’ head had just formed spell seals, about to activate a spell.

The Emperor Species’ killing intent dissipated instantly, no longer looking at the giant of the world opposite it, but instead gazed into the deeper dark void.

The exact location was a bit blurry…

    Did he really find it?

A long-lost sense of tension surfaced in the Emperor Species’ heart.

After spending thousands of years trying to break that seal, was this the moment it would truly achieve ultimate victory?

The core of the Seal of Fate—

Compared to the current struggle, finding the core of the Seal of Fate was truly the most important thing!

    More important than anything else!!!

The Emperor Species flashed, ready to vanish into the void.

“The fight isn’t over yet, why are you running? Are you afraid of me?”

The giant roared and unleashed its power, its hands rapidly forming spell seals in quick succession, attempting to seal the surrounding space.

The Emperor Species looked at its all-out effort, and a sudden realization dawned on it.

    This guy.

    He was stalling for time.

Perhaps someone else had also discovered the Seal of Fate and was contending with its slave-worm?

—Then it had to rush there immediately!

The Emperor Species sneered coldly and spoke:

“It’s useless, mere spatial confinement spells, I can simply leave by descending.”

“—Humans are too shallow, they don’t understand the profound mysteries of body manipulation at all, and they can’t contend with our race.”

The giant seemed not to hear, persistently casting hand seals and activating layer upon layer of spells.

    But it was useless.

The Emperor Species’ figure gradually faded, slowly disappearing into the void.

    At the last moment.

It remembered the words of the one it had descended upon.

    Yes.

Shatter the core of the Seal of Fate.

    Then I win!

The Emperor Species burst into laughter: “Finally, the moment of harvest! Once I’m done with this important matter, I’ll come back and fight you!”

“But I’m warning you beforehand, all of you will die, and this planet will be completely devoured by me.”

    “—I will win!”

    A flash.

    It disappeared.

The giant stood in the darkness, gradually stopping its movements.

“Shen Ye, I tried my best to stop it…”

It sighed, its figure flashing, chasing after it at an unimaginable speed.

    On the other side.

    Shen Ye—

No, it should be the Emperor Species.

It descended onto Shen Ye, then opened its eyes.

“Tell me, what’s the situation now? Where’s the core of the Seal of Fate?”

    The Emperor Species immediately asked.

    Strange.

The moment it descended, this body was falling.

When it took over the body—

Everything around it had completely changed.

    Now.

It stood in a vast, white world.

“This is another world, Great Worm Emperor.” Shen Ye replied.

“Another world? It’s not some kind of trap of yours, is it?” the Emperor Species said with a chuckle. “Or do you want to replace me and become the sole ‘Dark Devourer’ of the universe?”

“You are invincible, how could I replace you!” Shen Ye said.

If someone were observing at this moment, they would find that in the entire vast, white, empty world, there was only Shen Ye.

From an observer’s perspective, he was talking to himself.

“You’re right, all the methods you possess are ineffective against me… The power gap between us is like dust and a star.”

    The Emperor Species said.

    It suddenly noticed something unusual.

Looking down, intertwining lines appeared on this body, outlining the core of the Seal of Fate.

All the lines were glowing faintly!

“You see, I’ve found the Seal of Fate, and it’s on me!”

    Shen Ye said.

    The Emperor Species fell silent.

    The Seal.

    On the body.

And it had also descended into this body.

    …Was it sealed again?

The other party’s noisy voice sounded again:

“To celebrate your acquisition of the core of the Seal of Fate and your victory in this battle, I have specially prepared an ice sculpture for you!”

    “Please see—”

Blocks of ice crystals emerged from the ground, piecing together in mid-air to form a line of human text:

    “Win your mother.”

    Not only that—

The Emperor Species found itself trapped deep within a massive ice crystal.

So the sensation of falling just now was because this body had jumped into this ice crystal?

    The timing was impeccable.

As soon as it arrived, it fell into the ice crystal and was sealed within.

    How ridiculous.

This slave actually possessed such means!

—He used to be a Human, and Humans shouldn’t have this type of profession!

The Emperor Species shook its body forcefully.

    Crackle, crackle—

The entire ice crystal shattered completely.

    The mist of frost dispersed.

The scene of the world outside the ice crystal was revealed before the Emperor Species’ eyes.

Countless dense ice mirrors floated in mid-air, enveloped by a misty, frosty aura.

Thousands of mirrors all faced each other, arranged in a line stretching to the end of the visible horizon.

    Not just the sky.

The ground and everything else around were covered in frosty mirrors.

The Emperor Species understood at a glance.

This was clearly a meticulously prepared battlefield.

Fighting here would undoubtedly offer some advantageous terrain for the opponent.

    The Emperor Species spoke:

“You had the chance to become a worm, and even serve me. If you performed well enough, I would even bestow upon you the power of class change, yet you betrayed me—”

“Don’t you think this is a foolish thing?”

“What if I don’t do well enough?” Shen Ye smiled and retorted, “Are you going to devour me then?”

“So you are afraid,” the Emperor Species said.

“If I don’t do well enough, I’ll be eaten—that’s completely against labor laws. Besides, I’m willing to create wealth with my own hands, but I won’t sell my life.” Shen Ye said.

    Swish—

    A blade of light flashed.

Shen Ye’s hands fell to the ground.

“Where are your hands now? You self-proclaimed clever fool.” The Emperor Species said coldly.

Shen Ye shivered with pain, but immediately did something the Emperor Species couldn’t comprehend.

He kicked his hands away with both feet, sending them flying far into the frosty mist, out of sight.

    “Are you insane?”

The Emperor Species controlled its body, spitting out a mouthful of blood.

The blood immediately transformed into countless sharp blood blades, cutting Shen Ye’s body back and forth.

    “Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh—”

Shen Ye let out a painful roar.

    Time seemed incredibly long.

This torture of a thousand cuts continued without end.

The Emperor Species’ voice resonated from his body:

“There is only one outcome for betrayal—”

    “Death.”

It raised its hand and pierced Shen Ye’s heart.

Shen Ye fell to the ground.

    He was dead.

However, in a nearby mirror, another him suddenly became animated.

The him in the mirror sat on the ground, gasping for breath.

That spell was too terrifying, he didn’t even have a chance to escape.

    —Fortunately, it killed him.

He obtained that sole opportunity at the moment of death.

Shen Ye looked at the corpse outside the mirror.

Before his eyes, faint light gathered into small words:

    “You have changed bodies.”

    —Yes!

Before dying, Shen Ye changed to another body!

    Most importantly—

This body was a pure Human body, with no insect blood, no runes!

The worm could not descend into this body!

Every single one of the countless mirrors, every single him, covered the sky and earth.

    He could use them all.

And the worm could only use the body that was being sealed, the dead body lying on the ground.

But Shen Ye didn’t even have the chance to switch bodies!

This decisive transformation was only obtained at the cost of death.

The voice of the Spirit of Magic sounded:

“Be careful, it’s very powerful, this is just the beginning.”

“Didn’t we seal it?” Shen Ye asked.

“It’s just sealed in your body, it still needs time to seal all its power.” The Spirit of Magic said.

“Quickly seal its spatial movement ability—otherwise it’ll escape!”

    Shen Ye urged.

“I’m working on it!” The Spirit of Magic’s voice faded away.

Shen Ye stared unblinkingly at the corpse.

    This guy was too strong…

    Could he really do it?
