Chapter Index

With generous compensation, the patrol team in Stream Valley City was quickly established. It not only recruited excellent hunters and capable adventurers from nearby, but also had soldiers from the garrison assigned to it for better control and supervision, forming a patrol force of about 230 people.

After the patrol team was formed, Jobs selected four excellent First-Order individuals as captains, each commanding a small team, and sent them out of the city to patrol and capture scouts.

In the first few days, these patrol teams were clueless and lacked experience, but during an accidental operation, they captured a careless scout. After severe interrogation, they figured out the enemy’s patterns of activity and gained some experience.

Soon, these patrol teams began to cause trouble and resistance for the Anti Kingdom’s scouts.

On the streets of Stream Valley City, another patrol team returned with great success. On the cart they were pulling lay three bound Anti scouts, gagged and curled up like shrimp, leaving them for the public to see.

“Are these the Anti scouts?” residents discussed by the roadside.

“They don’t look much different from us.”

“Don’t say that, their accent and customs are completely different from ours. Do you know, the Anti people only bathe once a month, they smell awful.” Someone whispered, because there were still some Anti army stationed in the city.

“And their food, they particularly like to add red garlic and green tomatoes, they like that strange sour taste.”

Residents discussed the differences of the Anti people, and some who saw the scouts passing by picked up stones and threw them at them.

Facing such actions, the patrol team members riding in front did not stop them, and even waved proudly, showcasing their glory to the residents, occasionally waving to some pretty girls by the roadside.

“Hey, see, these are the guys.”

“Doing bad things outside day and night, making us have to close the city and stay at home.”

“Prince Jobs ordered us to get rid of these bad guys.”

“This kind of thing is exceptionally easy for me, but I’m more grateful to His Royal Highness, this is also his glory.” The patrolman in front spoke to the residents by the roadside.

He described his brave actions while praising the prince’s wisdom, and at the same time, showcased himself, attracting the admiration of many young people who were not yet experienced in the world.

“Hahaha, do you also want to join the patrol team?”

“No problem, train your breathing method well, and after a while, let me see your progress.”

After returning to the city, this patrol team was honored by Prince Jobs, who also invited them to dine and celebrate in the castle.

This period of victory against the Anti scouts greatly boosted the confidence of the soldiers stationed in Stream Valley City, and much of the previous suspicion towards Prince Jobs was dispelled.

Some even began to think that if this prince really became king in the future, they must perform well in the early stages to leave an impression.

The dawn of victory invigorated the morale of Stream Valley City, but it did not have much impact on the Anti Kingdom’s army outside the city.

Every day, many people and horses still passed in and out, bringing news from various parts of Regas, and several messengers from the distant northern Anti Kingdom also came and went.

Inside the large military tent, ‘Baron Cerberus’ Katchis and ‘Viscount Noxden’ were discussing.

“The situation around Stream Valley City has been thoroughly investigated, and not only that, but garrisons in other districts within Regas have also reported to us and sent personnel to request instructions.”

“With us here, those wavering garrisons have begun to settle down. I believe they will not side with the already faltering Regas nobles for such minor worries.”

“If it weren’t for the sudden attack of Deep Winter, this should have been our freely controlled land, how could it be so vulnerable now?” Noxden picked up a large wine glass from the table and took a big gulp, a spicy kick surging from his stomach.

“Haha, even so, it’s not the gutter rats’ turn to come back.” On the other side of the table, a long-faced man smiled sinisterly.

“I estimate that prince in Stream Valley City is still dreaming, thinking about becoming king in the future.”

“Fabre was really stupid to actually throw his lot in with that prince who has nothing.”

“Originally, if he had been ruthless and reported directly to his superiors, mobilizing the garrisons and combat power of several surrounding cities, he could have easily taken down that penniless prince.”

“Now, not only does he have to contribute the things he plundered in Stream Valley City, but even his property back in Anti is not safe.” He shook his head, unable to understand why someone could be so foolish.

“Perhaps he thinks the Anti ship is sinking and is desperate to find another ship.” Noxden on the side continued to pour wine.

“Some of the lords currently stationed in Regas think the same way.”

“Although they haven’t pledged allegiance to Regas, they are actively preparing. If Anti falls one day, they will become independent and form a loose alliance.”

“This cannot be allowed.” Katchis leaned back in his chair, fingers interlaced, elbows resting on the armrests.

“His Majesty sent me here to keep these guys in line, to remind them who their master is.”

“It’s good that Fabre rebelled. It serves as an example to them, to show them the fate of traitors.”

Hearing this, Noxden put down his wine glass. “Have you decided? When will we act? I’m getting a little bored waiting.”

“Since General Noxden feels a bit bored, how about tomorrow?” Katchis picked up the wine bottle and refilled the other’s glass.

“Tomorrow it is.” Noxden directly set the attack time.

“Hee hee, there’ll be a good show tomorrow.” Katchis let out a sinister and strange laugh.

While Stream Valley City was in a standoff, in the eastern part of Regas, a young girl in a flaxen grey robe was riding a horse through the mountain wilderness, approaching a city not far away.

Sylphidya first left the Grani Mountains, then passed through the border town in the east, and gradually approached the hinterland of Regas.

Standing beneath the tall city wall, Sylphidya pulled back her hood and looked up.

Finally, a larger city, the young girl thought to herself.

But looking at the flags on the city walls and the soldiers’ attire, this should be where the Anti Kingdom’s army is stationed.

The young girl dismounted, then led the white horse beside her towards the city gate.

The soldiers at the city gate questioned people entering and exiting, asking where they came from and what they were doing in the city, with strict inspections.

“And you, take off your hood.” As Sylphidya approached the city gate, she was stopped by an Anti soldier.

“Hello.” The young girl took off her hood, revealing her dazzling silver hair and ethereal beauty.

“You…” The soldier wanted to ask, but his voice caught in his throat after seeing the young girl’s face.

“I am a gardener from a distant land, this is my identification.” Sylphidya took out a Horticulturist Badge, which she had obtained in the Gleaming Gold Plain after condensing the ‘Third-Order Horticulturist’ profession.

“This, I understand. You may pass.” Although he didn’t know where the young girl came from, the oppressive attribute power emanating from her was undeniable, making the soldiers at the city gate especially respectful.

After entering the city, Sylphidya reined in her aura, leading her horse and continuing to walk, admiring the streets of the city.

This was Durin City in eastern Regas, once an estate of a Regas Earl, but now ruled by Anti Kingdom nobles.

On the streets, Sylphidya could see soldiers in dark red robe armor patrolling everywhere, and there weren’t many people talking.

Fortunately, apart from that, no other disturbances occurred. The market here was still bustling, residents and merchants traded and discussed events happening elsewhere.

“Have you heard? The elite forces dispatched by the Anti Kingdom themselves are now stationed outside Stream Valley City.”

“It is said that the descendant of the ‘Knight King’ Regard’s bloodline, who is also the sole royal bloodline, Prince Jobs, is currently in Stream Valley City.”

“Many former Regas nobles are preparing to go and join him.”

“Prince Jobs? Why have I rarely heard his name before? It feels like among the princes, he is the youngest, with little experience or ability.”

“Hush, don’t speak carelessly. What if he really becomes king in the future?”

“Ahaha, you don’t have to worry about that. I think that prince definitely can’t defeat the Anti people.”

“That’s enough, I’m going to work. The Anti nobles in the castle ordered a lot of meat today, so I need to go buy it.”

“I really envy those noble lords, they can eat meat and drink wine every day.”

“If you’re envious, you can also go and earn some military merit,” someone nearby said with a laugh.

“Me? No thanks. I can’t even master the breathing method. On the battlefield, I’d just be cannon fodder.”

“It’s better to be a stable errand runner anyway. Even if there are no Regas nobles, there are still lords from Anti, and it doesn’t delay things.”

After speaking, a burst of laughter erupted in the market again, then slowly subsided, returning to its usual bustling shouts.

Although the country had changed hands, for the ordinary residents here, Anti rule was just a change of tax-collecting nobles, with no substantial difference.

Some descendants of former Regas knights might beat their chests and grieve over the demise of the nation established by their ancestors, but for the common folk, the deeds of the ‘Knight King’ Regard were already too distant and forgotten a story.
