The Cornflower Witch Chapter 217
byIn the Dark Mist Mountains, Lantern Town.
A brand new circular domed greenhouse is under construction. Its exterior is made of large glass panes, mimicking a hemisphere covering the greenhouse. Inside, a garden stands a level higher than its surroundings, and beyond the garden lies a large expanse of flat land.
Currently, numerous blue Cornflower are planted here. Even with the dim sky outside the domed greenhouse, this place remains beautiful. The stamens of many Cornflower emit tiny blue glows, as if in a dream.
Within the shrubbery of the central garden, a small, round pavilion stands. Hylial sits on a chair inside the pavilion, flipping through a book. Occasionally, she looks up at the sky, her gaze sweeping over the distant Sea of Flowers, lost in thought, remembering things.
Unconsciously, a year has passed since she arrived in the Dark Mist Mountains.
She thought for a moment, then took out her diary. At this moment, she didn’t know what to write, but felt that she should write something.
“A year has passed, the garden is full of Cornflower.”
…
“Perhaps, I should change something.”
Closing the book, Hylial stood up and walked into the Cornflower Sea of Flowers outside the small garden. She strolled quietly, relaxing her body’s control, allowing herself to follow her feelings as she walked through it. Occasionally, her sleeves brushed the Sea of Flowers, and her fingertips touched the petals and leaves under the dome.
She closed her eyes, and sensations, both rough and delicate, traveled along her fingertips to her heart.
Her heart was like an empty cloud, sometimes giving rise to small worries, which quickly dissipated.
She didn’t particularly want anything, but she also didn’t want to lose anything. She quite liked this quiet and airy feeling.
Who am I?
I am an ordinary office worker who once lived on Earth, feeling my youth wasted and boring, so I could only immerse myself in childhood memories.
I am the eldest daughter of the Mezans family, surrounded by maids since childhood, enjoying the best living conditions, a happy princess with small worries.
I am a silver-haired girl who woke up alone in the forest with no memory, full of curiosity about this world and a bit at a loss.
I am the genius of the forest settlement, overly loved and favored by everyone, with a faint sense of accomplishment in managing the outpost, but also wanting to be lazy, hiding alone in the garden to read and take a nap.
Slowly, Hylial opened her eyes and lay down lightly amidst the Sea of Cornflower.
A faint sense of peace enveloped her. Her vision was covered by the glass dome, and around her vision, Cornflower stems and leaves of various sizes clustered, as if embracing her entirely.
She gently raised her hand, picked a Cornflower, and placed the light blue and dark blue Cornflower in front of her eyes.
The reflection of the Cornflower was mirrored in her transparent pupils, like equally beautiful gemstones.
Her eyelids fluttered gently, then closed.
Soon after, they opened again.
She removed the Cornflower from her fingers and stretched her arms casually, not caring if dirt stained her hair and back.
Hylial had a good sleep in the Sea of Flowers, never feeling so relaxed, with no thoughts circulating in her mind.
Just lying there, quietly napping.
Time passed imperceptibly in sleep, dream scenes lacking a sense of time, gently flowing by.
That was her past life.
And a past filled with regrets.
…
At some point, the girl in the Sea of Flowers slowly stood up, gently shaking her head, shaking off the dust and dead leaves.
She walked out of the Sea of Flowers again, returning to the pavilion in the garden.
She opened her book again, her gaze occasionally sweeping over the ancient words.
Just like usual.
But some things were already different.
.
Time and memory are engraved with a person’s past.
Shaping her present self.
Everything in the memories hasn’t changed.
But those scenes, like glass in the sunlight,
Sparkle and are clear ————
A new year dawned, and Lantern Town welcomed many new faces.
“Croak~ Is this the boss’s new territory?”
A group of frogs gathered curiously in the town square, croaking. The Second Phase member who led them to the outpost was exasperated, sighing and holding his forehead.
These frogs had been so talkative the entire way that the accompanying Knight Attendant almost went mad. Thankfully, they were finally delivered.
Soon after they unloaded their luggage and supplies, several First Phase students came over.
“Finally, we meet you all~”
Rachel, dressed in light white armor, pressed one hand on the hilt of her sword at her waist, and with the other, she clapped the shoulder of the Knight Attendant with a hearty laugh.
“Senior sister, greetings!” The Knight Attendant immediately stood at attention, looking at Rachel with admiration. He had learned basic swordsmanship and combat techniques from Rachel back in the Glittering Gold Plain.
“Mmhmm.” Rachel nodded, her gaze appraising him with a hint of satisfaction, then she asked.
“How many of you came this time, and how many supplies did you bring?”
“A total of 112 of us came this time, as Second Phase support members. Most are students from the Glittering Gold Plain, and over thirty were seconded from surrounding outposts.”
“The supplies include 120 ‘Tier 1 – Castle’ white-maned horses, 40 ‘Tier 2 – Castle’ Wind-lettered horses, 200 sets of ‘Tier 2 – Excellent’ quality battle armor, forty barrels of building materials, 230 ‘Tier 1 – Castle’ Inscription crystal stone, 60 ‘Tier 2 – Castle’ Silver-gray stone, and 12 ‘Tier 3 – Castle’ Sacred engraved stone.”
“In addition, there are 658 sets of classics for various abilities and knowledge, 42 heritage steles, and one temporary beacon.”
After hearing the report, the First Phase members who had accompanied them had shining eyes and nodded continuously.
Afterward, they escorted the new arrivals to their apartments to arrange rooms, and then inventoried the supplies one by one.
In the evening, a lively and lavish welcome dinner was held in the hall of Lantern Town.
During this time, Hylial also made a grand appearance, dressed in an off-the-shoulder gown with blue embroidery on a white background. Her silver hair complemented her fair shoulders and neck. Her bangs gently swept to one side, and three Cornflower of varying sizes adorned her hair, echoing her blue pupils, making her exceptionally beautiful.
Facing this maiden, the accompanying First Phase students consciously stood by her side, enhancing her prestige as she took the stage.
Throughout their year together, everyone had become familiar with this maiden’s character. Although she appeared youthful and gentle, her handling of various outpost affairs had become increasingly wise and astute, earning everyone’s heartfelt respect.
However, if one were to meet her for the first time, they would likely be misled by her delicate and demure appearance, making them curious if she could truly hold such a position.
Therefore, a few core First Phase students made sure to help the maiden establish authority during their first meeting, facilitating subsequent management.
Standing on the brightly lit wooden platform in the hall, Hylial, with a soft voice, delivered the welcome speech and outlined the important matters. Her eyes blinked gently, as if she had forgotten what to say next, displaying a pure cuteness.
“… So, I hope everyone can live happily here from now on.” After saying this, she curtsied lightly, subtly raising her skirt to express gratitude, then descended the platform.
Warm applause erupted in the hall, and pairs of burning, bright eyes focused on her, lingering for a long time.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately and figured out some things.
Suddenly, I followed my feelings and wrote this chapter. I hope it brings everyone a strange and fresh feeling 0 0/
