Chapter Index

In the morning, the wheat-laden carriage set off from the valley. There were three compartments in total, carrying 3000 jin of wheat.

The tall Draft Horse pulled the carriage forward effortlessly, with some reserves of strength. Knowing the way, Hylial didn’t need to give directions. She merely lay on the hay of the carriage, dozing off, waiting until they reached their destination.

The carriage swayed along the long plains and grasslands.

At noon, Hylial arrived at Whitecliff City. She first parked the carriage at the post station, then went to the bakery she had previously worked with.

The air here was filled with a faint sweet scent and the warmth from the oven. Hylial explained her purpose after entering the bakery.

“Please take a seat for a moment. Teacher Fred is currently busy in the back kitchen making today’s bread and pastries.”

So, she went to the dining area to wait, and a staff member brought her some delicious pastries.

“Miss Lia, this is today’s freshly made cake.”

【Watermelon Cake】(Excellent): Delicious watermelon chunks paired with soft, sweet cake cream, offering an excellent taste experience. (Stamina Recovery +2, Refreshingness +1, Deliciousness +2)

    “Thank you.”

Hylial used a small fork to take a small bite. The cool watermelon and cream melted in her mouth, providing an excellent taste.

Today, she wore a light yellow dress with white pleated lace on the pale yellow skirt, and white ribbons on the cuffs and collar, making her look as if she were in the height of summer.

This dress was custom-made for her by Madame Faran last year, but she had only worn it twice. It was a rare occasion to return, so she took it out and wore it today.

The ends of her silver hair were slightly upturned, probably due to sleeping on it that morning, adding a touch of lovely casualness to the girl’s temperament.

After enjoying the cake, Hylial didn’t wait long. The familiar baker emerged from the back kitchen, carrying a faint aroma of baked sweetness.

“Oh, it’s Lia,” he said, taking a seat at the girl’s table.

“Did you have another good harvest this time? I was planning to visit you to buy another batch of goods, but you weren’t in the valley then, only a group of toads were taking care of things,” he said, shaking his head with a touch of regret.

“Yes, I’m here to continue our trade,” Hylial said, thinking for a moment. She took out a small packet of wheat flour and placed it on the table.

    “This is Rare quality wheat.”

“Oh,” Fred the baker exclaimed, a hint of surprise in his eyes. He took the small packet of wheat and tasted the faint flour within.

“This batch of goods is excellent. How much can you supply, Lia?” He assumed her yield wouldn’t be much.

Hearing this, Lia tilted her head, her finger on her chin, and pondered for a moment.

    “How much do you need?”

“Well, under normal circumstances, our bakery consumes 100 jin of flour daily. However, most customers don’t require high quality, so the demand for high-quality flour is around 20 jin. That makes it 600 jin a month.”

“I see,” Hylial calculated in her mind, then spoke.

“I will be leaving the Glittering Gold Plain next year, but in the six months before I leave, I will be cultivating a large amount of high-quality wheat. If you wish to stock up, tell me a specific amount, and I will prepare it accordingly.”

“Also, there’s one more thing. The Excellent quality wheat I sold you before will no longer be available. Now I only have ‘Rare’ quality and ‘Perfect’ quality wheat. I wonder if you can afford the corresponding prices.” Hearing the girl’s words, Fred unconsciously rubbed his fingers.

What does she mean, no Excellent quality, only Rare and Perfect quality? Is that even humanly possible? He had indeed used Rare and Perfect quality ingredients before, but he always had to be careful and frugal with them. After all, those noble gardeners wouldn’t sell their produce to him; they would supply it directly to various large organizations within the association in exchange for benefits.

Seeing that the baker opposite her remained silent, Hylial thought for a moment and took out the badge from the inside of her collar.

Upon seeing this Mithril-glowing badge, Fred’s eyes widened. He could never have imagined encountering such a student; now all his questions made sense.

No wonder she wasn’t afraid of the association questioning her about selling high-quality products. No wonder she spoke with such confidence, claiming she could provide as much as he needed.

“I apologize, I was distracted just now. Let’s continue discussing our cooperation.” Seeing that the other party finally spoke, the girl breathed a sigh of relief. She had thought it was a lost cause.

“Since you said you’ll be leaving in six months and may not be able to return to the Glittering Gold Plain for a long time, we will order enough ingredients for storage.” He was also contemplating how much he would need.

If it were just for his own use, 600 jin per month would be 7200 jin per year. Considering future needs, he would at most purchase two years’ worth of ingredients, totaling 14400 jin.

However, he also had friends. Although his baker’s guild was a small organization, there was a group of acquaintances who also needed high-quality ingredients. If he sold some of the ingredients to them, he could earn an intermediary fee, and they would willingly pay.

This way, the pressure of his own procurement would also be reduced.

“I plan to purchase 5000 jin of Rare quality wheat and 300 jin of Perfect quality wheat. If the quality is satisfactory, I will increase the order within the next three months for storage. I may purchase up to 15000 jin of ingredients in total,” Fred told the girl.

“No problem.” The girl blinked. The crops currently stored in her warehouse were enough to meet the demand, and in a few more months, she would harvest another batch.

Afterward, the two negotiated and finalized the specific details and prices. Rare quality wheat, though with a market price of 10 Silver Coins, was extremely scarce. So, Hylial’s final price was 12 Silver Coins per jin. As for Perfect quality wheat, it was 2 Gold Coins per jin.

“12 x 5000 = 60000 Silver Coins = 600 Gold Coins, 300 x 2 = 600 Gold Coins, making a total of 1200 Gold Coins.” This was no small sum, roughly eight months of revenue for the Hearth Bakery. If production costs were deducted, it would be almost a year’s profit.

The bakery had 3 Second-Tier bakers, 26 First-Tier baker apprentices, and over twenty other staff members, ensuring good benefits for everyone.

After signing the contract, Hylial delivered the 3000 jin of wheat from her carriage directly. The remaining portion would be delivered in a few days.

“Oh, oh, this batch of goods is so pure!” Fred’s expression changed several times as he inspected the 3000 jin of wheat: first surprise, then joy, then intoxication, and finally, complete immersion in his own world.

“With this batch of goods, some of us at the bakery might even try to break through to Third-Tier. If we can advance further, and if one of us becomes a Fourth-Tier Transcendent, we can formally register with the association and establish a small organization…”

“Ahem, well, Mr. Fred, if you’re satisfied, please sign the receipt,” Hylial had to interrupt him.

Wheat, shouldn’t it be described by its color and plumpness? Why did this man speak as if he was enjoying a forbidden substance, making Hylial clutch her forehead in exasperation.

However, the other party was indeed very generous, buying without hesitation. She had originally thought it would be a long negotiation.

With enough Gold Coins now, she could also choose her favorite courses to study from Scholar Seraph.

Perhaps it was the rat hoarding habit developed in her previous life, where she always saved things she liked. After seeing the dazzling array of course lists, she also had the impulse to acquire them all.

This was due to Hylial’s own personality, as well as her longing and curiosity for the various mysterious knowledge of this world.
