    Chapter 107

    The Returning Girl

The black-haired girl lost. Does that mean Lia, and Iona won in the end?

This thought crossed Viscount Xuefeng’s mind, and he felt it was within expectations.

After all, she was Viscount Kalun’s daughter and had studied at the Royal Academy in Whitecliff City. In every respect, other academies couldn’t compare.

On the other side, Scholar Hyde was somewhat silent after hearing this. He actually hoped Hylial would win, as he preferred the black-haired girl’s personality, and Iona wasn’t close to him.

Waiting was always a bit boring, but when the last few students appeared, the people at the camp were still excited.

The students who had returned from the assessment earlier hadn’t left. After sleeping overnight, everyone was waiting for the results today.

    “Who will it be?”

“It should be Miss Iona, her strength is almost a clean sweep.” Someone guessed.

“But even for Miss Iona, completing the third objective is a very difficult task.” Someone else thought.

“If Miss Iona hasn’t completed the third objective, then they’ll have to choose from the few who completed the second objective.”

“In that case, Solin, Mick, and Balun all still have high hopes.”

“Forget about Solin, he came back yesterday. The reason you don’t know is because he was severely poisoned and was sent back to Burntstone City for recuperation.”

“Ah, did Solin lose just like that?” Someone expressed regret, as Solin had a good reputation among the commoner students.

“What about the others? Have Mick and Balun returned?”

“Balun just came back last night, he’s probably still sleeping in his tent.” Someone shook their head.

“Judging by his disheartened look, he probably didn’t complete the second objective.”

“So, it’s just a matter of whether Mick or Miss Iona is chosen.”

“That should be it, but Viscount Xuefeng will definitely recommend Miss Iona, she’s his niece.”

“Mick will get some compensation, and that’ll be about it.”

Everyone was discussing animatedly until someone suddenly shouted, making them stop.

“They’re here, they’re back!” Seeing Mick, Komia, and the others, the students gestured.

So, the few carrying spoils of war quickened their pace and walked towards the camp.

Soon after, Mick and Lei opened their blood-stained bundles on the open ground of the camp, revealing two ogre heads inside.

“This is Lei’s and my achievement.” Mick announced loudly.

“Understood.” The instructor next to them nodded in satisfaction, patted their shoulders, and asked if they were injured.

“We are in excellent condition right now.” Mick answered proudly.

On the other side, Komia and Lia were surrounded by some students.

“Did you two go on an outing? You look so relaxed.”

“By the way, have you seen Miss Iona?” They didn’t care about the two of them at all; they only wanted to know when Iona, the champion of this assessment, would return.

“I didn’t see her.” Komia waved her hand, implying she knew nothing, then pulled Lia away and trotted to Scholar Hyde.

“Teacher, we’re back.” Komia cheerfully bounced in front of Scholar Hyde.

“Good, it’s good that you’re back safe and sound.” Scholar Hyde looked at Lia with concern, and seeing her unharmed, the stone of worry in his heart fell.

It seemed Iona had held back and didn’t injure Hylial.

“The outcome isn’t important; just participating in this trial is a challenge in itself.” He began to comfort the two.

“You can still go to other organizations and look for opportunities. Join the periphery first, and then you can gradually get closer and receive inheritance.”

“Is that really possible? Thank you, Teacher Hyde.” Komia jumped with joy.

“So, I can be a witch too then.” She wanted to go home quickly and discuss it with her parents, but then she turned around and suddenly saw a mysterious woman in a black dress standing in front of Lia, which startled her.

The mysterious black witch had living-like ties wrapped around her wrists, and her skin was pale. Just being close to her brought a sense of dizziness and fear, making Komia tremble and unable to utter a word.

On the other side, Hylial was much calmer, or rather, she wasn’t so greatly impacted. She just sensed a strong aura of Nightmare from the other party.

This was probably the true orchestrator, or examiner, of this assessment.

“You are very good. I smell the scent of flowers on you.” Melinsa gently fanned herself with her black fan.

“If I’m not mistaken, this should be the scent of an outer organization of the ‘Four Seasons Alliance.’ It seems you also have some connection.”

“Here, this is your badge as the winner.” She flipped her fingers and handed a special silver badge to Hylial.

The pattern on this badge showed twisted trees growing around it, with a crescent moon in the middle of the trees. It looked exquisite and had a special aura, feeling strangely cool to the touch.

[Woodland Badge] (Second-Order Glorious Moon): A badge granted only to exceptionally outstanding students, it can assist in meditation, making the mind more stable. (Mental stability +0.1)

“Keep it safe, it’s best to wear it and never take it off.” Melinsa instructed.

“Yes.” Hylial took it and fastened it temporarily to her collar.

“Not bad…” The black witch assessed Hylial’s appearance, temperament, and figure, nodding slightly.

“You are indeed an excellent witch’s seed. If you are interested in the witch profession, you can come to my organization, the ‘Night Dream Tea Party.’ I can be your recommender and guarantor, exempting you from the first three years of obligations in the organization. This is a considerable benefit and will save you a lot of time.”

“Thank you.” Hylial politely curtsied, her silver hair falling slightly.

“I wonder if you could tell me more about the ‘Night Dream Tea Party’.”

“That’s simple,” the witch said, turning to walk towards her black carriage.

    “Come with me.”

Hylial followed, and only then did the other students realize something was amiss.

“Is that Lia? Why is her hair silver?”

“And is that Witch Adult? It’s my first time seeing such a profession.”

“Ah, Lia got into the carriage with the witch. Is she being chosen?”

“Where’s Miss Iona? Wasn’t it Miss Iona?”

Not only were the students surprised and confused, but even Viscount Xuefeng and Scholar Hyde were filled with questions. However, they dared not disturb the witch at this moment, so they could only have people guard the carriage from a distance and report back if anything happened.

Considering some of the possibilities, Scholar Hyde called Komia and the others over to inquire.

“What exactly did you encounter in the assessment, and what’s Lia’s situation?”

    “Well…”

Mick glanced at the others beside him and began to explain to the teacher. Thus, some of the truth gradually became known to everyone.
