    Chapter 82

    Bees and Night Flower Bushes

“I’m sorry, Mama, I can’t master that kind of power right now.” Hylial woke from her dream, looking at her hands with amusement and helplessness.

That power and technique, even though her mother had specifically demonstrated all the details of the skills that day and imprinted the method of cultivating this ability completely in her memory, she was still too weak. She couldn’t even begin to match the miraculous scenes in her memory.

If she wasn’t mistaken, her mother should have had the blessing of ‘aster’, which was different from her own ‘cornflower’. In addition, there seemed to be a natural affinity for ‘Glorious Moon’ in their family’s bloodline. Many of the techniques and abilities her mother displayed showed manifestations of the ‘Glorious Moon’ affinity.

To materialize fantasy across time and space, to switch between virtual and real at will, to be the master of dreams—Glorious Moon was indeed formidable, one of the higher affinities.

However, mastering ‘Glorious Moon’ was also exceptionally difficult. This was not an “affinity” that could be easily comprehended by accumulating resources. Whether one could perceive that strange, ethereal rhythm depended entirely on their spiritual insight and talent.

Hylial floated quietly in the pure water, her thoughts flowing through her mind, her eyes shimmering with light.

Although she couldn’t achieve the miraculous effects her mother did, after simplifying it countless times, it might be possible to use it to resolve a crisis.

She closed her eyes again, gradually adjusted her posture, and slowly brought her hands together in front of her, her palms and thumbs forming a faint triangle.

Within the hollow of that triangle, specks of starlight appeared. At the same time, the silver meteors in the card in her destiny disc began to disappear one by one.

    【Girl Under the Starry Sky】 (Tier 1 – Alien Star) → 【Sleeping Girl】 (None)

The Tier 1 affinity she had painstakingly condensed disappeared again, and the precious power of affinity gathered in Hylial’s palm, forming a tiny, beautiful stardust vortex.

“O power of the stars, manifest now.”

“Manifest in the form I desire.”

The swirling stardust gradually took on the ‘Glorious Moon’ silver of the pure water, expanding little by little, continuously absorbing and devouring…

Until finally, a huge whirlpool formed underwater. The water, emitting a faint silver light, surged upwards, carrying countless shimmering starlights out of the pool.

In the temple ruins, black mist and white bees were still locked in a struggle, but now only a few remnants of black mist remained, while many white bees were still present.

Water sprayed, rising with the swirling cyclone. Upon reaching a high altitude, it slowly fell like a curtain.

A transparent curtain of water, a silvery glowing curtain of water, a curtain of water adorned with stars.

The falling water curtain embedded white bees within it, and then the specks of starlight quickly moved and painted on the water curtain, depicting blooming cornflower bushes. They were not real, but due to her talent, Hylial was able to control this difficult secret technique with relative ease.

Finally, the shimmering silver water curtain completely stopped in the air, and the painted scroll, outlined by the wandering starlight, was fixed in place with the last flow of moonlight.

Hylial slowly walked out of the pool, gazing at the flowing giant water curtain painting in the sky, her eyes shining as she completed it with her last ounce of energy.

After a while, this giant painting slowly descended, growing smaller and smaller, until it became an illusory card, floating before Hylial.

    【Bees and Night Flower Bushes】 (Tier 1 – Alien Star – Moth)

‘At night, white bees shuttle like fireflies through illusory cornflower bushes, like a dream.’ (The starlight flower bushes seal the bee swarm, and the power of the two achieves a fragile balance).

Phew… Hylial breathed a sigh of relief. She had finally dealt with these murderous bee swarms.

However, since this was her first time using it, and it had been simplified countless times, all she could achieve was to seal these bee swarms. If her mother were to perform it, she would not only retain the ‘Glorious Moon’ affinity but also be able to command the bees for her own use and empower them with starlight.

She was still too weak, probably not even able to beat the maids at home. She vaguely remembered that almost all the maids at home were above Tier 3, capable of all sorts of skills and almost omnipotent.

Although she still couldn’t recall her full name and her mother’s name, given the numerous clues she gained from this dream, it would only be a matter of time before she recovered her past identity.

“Elisha…” she recalled the name mentioned in the dream.

Although she didn’t know her mother’s name, she mysteriously remembered the name of her best childhood playmate. Could it be that they were so close when they were young that she couldn’t remember her mother’s name but remembered ‘Elisha’?

Elisha, she seemed to have golden hair, a bit mischievous, and eyes like gold jade.

After tidying her dress, the maiden returned to the side of the fountain pool. The clear water beneath the white stone sculpture had been completely used up by Hylial. The water bottle, which once flowed with clear water, was now dry and solidified, leaving only the stone sculpture of a woman standing in the center of the pool.

Even if Hylial wasn’t an expert, she could tell that this statue was a masterpiece that had been passed down through generations. She walked over to the statue, tiptoed, and carefully examined it, trying to find something different.

However, at this point, she had shed her original affinity and returned to Tier 0, and the effect of Identification Eye had also significantly decreased. She couldn’t see anything.

Forget it, if there were any obvious secrets, they would have been excavated long ago. She lightly jumped down into the empty pool.

The water in the pool now only reached her waist, completely lacking the bottomless feeling it had before. It seemed this pool was also a creation with peculiar abilities, capable of holding far more pure water than it currently did.

Ignoring these for now, Hylial gave up on the fountain and searched elsewhere in the temple ruins.

Along the way, she actually found something: a stone tablet collapsed in a corner, with a small segment of history inscribed on it.

According to the text, this temple must have belonged to a church, and this church once had widespread influence across the entire continent. In the Eighth Epoch, they battled various forces, vying for the legacy of the Silvermoon Dragon.

Silvermoon Dragon? Wasn’t that the Dragon of Law who governed the ‘Glorious Moon’ affinity in the Sixth and Seventh Epochs? It is said that in the Sixth Epoch, dragons rose, transforming the ‘basilisk’ affinity into ‘Dragon Eye’, and seized the authority of the Fairy Lords, becoming the overlords of this world.

Later, the Silvermoon Dragon fell, and the Hour Lord of the ‘Glorious Moon’ affinity became a rather mysterious entity. This led to the Fairy Lords now temporarily holding the rules of the ‘Glorious Moon’ affinity, as they were the former masters and had extensive experience in controlling ‘Glorious Moon’.

Unexpectedly, there was also a special secret history hidden here. In a sense, knowledge is power. If she could understand this history, she could use rituals to leverage the legendary power within this historical period.

After reading the contents of the stone tablet, Hylial couldn’t find anything else useful, and by now she was tired.

In this world, the sky seemed to be perpetually overcast with low clouds, with no distinction between day and night. She was unsure how many days she had been here.

But since it was safe here, she decided to rest for a while.

She turned around and came to the central fountain square, sleeping on a stone bench nearby.

Slowly, her breathing became steady, and the ancient temple ruins once again returned to their tranquility.

Much later, a faint, imperceptible moonlight slowly appeared on the maiden, drawing her once again into a distant and wondrous dream.
