Chapter 27: The Team-Piercing Expert, Fiteman
by DiswaWhen a student is bullied, it’s only natural for a teacher to step forward. Sir Vol, the Temple Knight, bravely (and shamelessly) stepped up, pointing at eight knight apprentices and challenging them, making everyone speechless.
Two junior female knights from the Rose Knight Academy couldn’t bear to watch and volunteered to step forward, but they were decisively defeated by Sir Vol, the Temple Knight.
Fettman and Angor’s eyes lit up; they had never witnessed such an exciting formal knight-level battle before, and their admiration for Vol instantly skyrocketed.
Vol, a formal knight, challenging eight knight apprentices, and then using that to provoke two junior female knights into challenging him, was already shameless enough.
But Senior Knight Molly’s actions showed Little Weil what it meant to be even more shameless—that there was no limit to how shameless one could be.
A dignified senior knight actually challenged a junior knight, and not only that, but didn’t allow them to refuse. Wasn’t this just grabbing them and rubbing them on the ground?
Soon, Sir Vol, the radiant Temple Knight, became a big pig-head and formed a new “pig-head duo” with Fettman, hiding in the corner, too embarrassed to show his face. It was too humiliating!
Angor was defeated and almost too tired to stand. Fettman and Vol were already the pig-head duo, but Weil showed no intention of compromising. His attitude of refusing to fight back, even to death, left Lilith feeling helpless. Her eyes darted around, and her gaze fell upon Annie.
Oh no! I forgot there was an even more vulnerable person here.
“Annie isn’t a knight apprentice; she hasn’t received any knight training. As a knight, one must abide by the knight’s code: humility, honesty, compassion, valor, justice, sacrifice, honor, and spirit! Bullying the weak is not allowed,” Weil hastily explained on Annie’s behalf.
“Hehe, I didn’t say anything. While bullying the weak is indeed frowned upon by knights, isn’t it also an essential spirit for a knight to allow ordinary people to experience the power of knighthood and to promote the greatness of the knight profession?” Lilith let out a clear laugh and walked towards Annie.
Was she becoming a hostage? Annie only then realized that her presence seemed to be a huge vulnerability. Others might not care about getting beaten or becoming a pig-head, but she did.
And even if they weren’t truly fighting, they wouldn’t let her be threatened. However, as a fellow woman, Lilith could unceremoniously use various methods against her, precisely because she was also a woman.
“Weil will dislike you if you do this.” Annie’s first words were not a plea for mercy, but rather something that Lilith had not expected.
“Hehe, my dear Miss Annie, I think you’ve misunderstood. What I want is Weil the person, not his heart. As long as he’s willing to fight me, nothing else matters. Moreover, I’ve never thought about having Classmate Weil fall in love with me; you’re the one who truly thinks that, you know.” Lilith couldn’t help but cover her mouth and chuckle softly, “Now is the moment to test Classmate Weil. Is he willing to fight me for you? That’s a big question, especially since he was tragically defeated by me in two consecutive matches yesterday.”
Little Weil raised his hands in a gesture of surrender, “Lilith, honestly, now that you’ve had your epiphany, our battles truly can’t give you much more inspiration and improvement in the short term. The gap between us is still huge, not something that can be closed in a day or two.
If you really want to fight me, then let’s fight.”
Lilith chuckled, “This isn’t me forcing you; you’re challenging me. As the victor, I accept your challenge.” Lilith’s smile never faded as she spoke, unable to hide her delight. Annie, on the side, was anxious but helpless.
Their biggest reliance, Sir Vol, the Temple Knight, had already turned into a pig-headed knight. Now, they could only watch Weil’s performance.
The two bowed formally according to protocol. As the disadvantaged party, Little Weil did not initiate an attack but adopted the same defensive stance as yesterday.
Lilith, anticipating this, launched a thrust with her rapier directly at Little Weil’s chest, just as before.
Little Weil still took half a step back, parried, and swept his sword! But this time, the situation changed from yesterday. Little Weil actively retreated half a step, avoiding Lilith’s sharp thrust, and it didn’t cause the temporary recoil effect on him.
Relying on his pre-prepared stored power, after successfully parrying Lilith’s wooden sword, Little Weil actually launched an attack. A swift, flat slash was executed, heading straight for Lilith’s exposed opening.
Lilith hadn’t expected Little Weil to counterattack so quickly, or for the counterattack to be so sudden and fierce. She moved rapidly to the side, blocking with her sword held vertically. However, with one having long accumulated power and attacking with full force, and the other responding hastily, Lilith retreated two steps again, almost losing her balance.
Little Weil, seizing the advantage, didn’t let up. A powerful chop came down, a move that was easiest to exert force and had the greatest power when executed from top to bottom.
The tables turned in an instant. Lilith, who should have been aggressively attacking, became the one hastily defending, while the one who should have been steadily defending began to attack fiercely with wide, sweeping movements.
The rapid “bang, bang, bang” of wooden swords clashing was incessant. In a flash, Little Weil had launched over a dozen strikes, and at this point, Lilith finally escaped her predicament. A parry swept Little Weil’s wooden sword aside, and her own wooden sword thrust straight forward, touching Little Weil’s throat. The scene instantly froze!
“I lost.” Little Weil’s face was full of helplessness. He shrugged and said, “Actually, this is my true skill level. It’s not terrible, but it’s definitely not as strong as you imagine. After all, the real gap between us cannot be closed by small tricks in a short time.”
“Very fierce attack, launched suddenly without any warning. If my strength were slightly weaker, I might have been the one to lose in the end.” Lilith won the match, but she always felt something was off.
Aside from her initial and final attacks, she was on the defensive the rest of the time. Classmate Weil didn’t seem to be holding back either. Was she overthinking it?
“A loss is a loss, a win is a win. I’m not a sore loser; after all, I’m still just a novice.” Little Weil didn’t care about his wins or losses at all. Well, it would be strange if he didn’t care.
He had twelve matches within a year, and he had to win at least seven, or he’d have to wear women’s clothes for a month! But he really couldn’t beat her!
“So powerful, truly so powerful!” Angor, who had settled down to watch the match, knew just from the sounds that both of their strengths were much greater than his own. Their speed, reaction time, and even offensive and defensive techniques were beyond his capabilities.
“Is this Classmate Weil’s true strength?”
“Who knows? Perhaps Weil deliberately lost to rescue Classmate Annie; it’s not impossible,” Pig-head Number One, Fettman, recovered from his shock and subconsciously refuted Angor’s words.
Pig-head Number Two, Sir Vol, the Temple Knight, let out a surprised gasp and looked at Pig-head Number One, Fettman, in disbelief. “How did you know Weil deliberately lost? You know, Weil put a lot of effort into losing without leaving a trace; it’s very difficult to tell without the discernment of a formal knight.”
“Uh, did Weil really lose on purpose? But I just saw his attack was very fierce.” Fettman suddenly became interested. There was a problem, a problem!
“You just said that casually?” Pig-head Number Two, Sir Vol, the Temple Knight, widened his eyes and then burst into laughter. “Hahahaha, although I don’t know your original intention in saying that, I can tell you with great certainty that you’ve sabotaged Little Weil.
He must have had his reasons for this disguise. If I’m not mistaken, he planned to challenge Classmate Lilith on a rest day and win by surprise, but you ruined it.”
“That’s not right, Teacher Vol. Since you said only a formal knight could see through Weil’s trick, then the other three formal knights should also be able to see through it. Wouldn’t they warn Classmate Lilith in advance so she could be prepared?” Pig-head Number One, Fettman, expressed his confusion.
“Hehe, this is actually a little game among knight apprentices. Wins and losses are harmless, and one could even say that if Lilith lost, it might even promote her growth. So, even if they saw through it, they wouldn’t proactively tell Lilith. Only when Lilith experiences a setback will she better learn her lesson.
It’s a pity that such a fun thing was ruined by your one sentence. Now Lilith will be more wary of Little Weil, and it will be difficult for him to win again.” Sir Vol, the Temple Knight, wore a schadenfreude-filled smile, which looked truly comical on his pig-head face.
“Teacher Vol, you keep saying Weil is playing tricks, but all I saw was a very exciting duel, and Classmate Weil attacked with all his might,” Angor’s words represented the views of the vast majority of people present, except for a few formal knights.
“Yes, Classmate Weil attacked with all his might, but what about his defense? Knighthood isn’t purely an offensive profession. Little Weil has only recently started knight training; his offensive capabilities aren’t strong, but he’s put a lot of effort into defense.
Yet, in his battle with Lilith, he abandoned all defense and transformed into a berserker, attacking wildly. This is the biggest problem.” Sir Vol, the Temple Knight’s words, made many people ponder, including Lilith, while only Weil wore a bitter smile.
