Chapter Index

As dawn broke, the three, well-rested, rose with the first light.

Little Weir knew this was a critical moment; even though he was only on standby, he dared not relax or be careless, as even being caught in the crossfire of the battle could cost him his life.

The baby Dark Night Spirit Cat was truly tiny, having just opened its eyes not long ago, and under Little Weir’s milk offensive, it quickly became familiar with him, showing no panic despite its parents’ absence.

A simple ‘telescope’ was set up before him, and Little Weir saw the red-robed man throw more than a dozen large roosters in front of the main hall.

The dim light of dawn brought them a flicker of vitality, and so, rooster crows rose one after another, bringing a touch of life to the ruins.

However, not all creatures enjoyed this vitality; at least, the undead were quite wary of it.

The crowing of the roosters, carrying a hint of longing for the morning sun, caused an inexplicable ripple, making all the ghosts retreat a good distance.

The silver-haired beauty followed closely, her Soul Nightmare Realm fully expanded.

Weaker ghosts quickly lost their ability to move, becoming puppets of the silver-haired beauty.

Some high-quality souls transformed into spiritual light and entered her body, becoming power for the Soul Nightmare Realm, while many more were purified and vanished.

Several vengeful spirits let out piercing screams, but the silver-haired beauty remained unmoved, swiftly arriving at the entrance to the underground secret chamber and throwing in three adult Dark Night Spirit Cats.

The Dark Night Spirit Cats had been in a coma, but quickly woke up after being thrown into the underground secret chamber.

What greeted their eyes was not their comfortable den, but grotesque tentacles and evil eyes.

Evil Eyes were wicked creatures from hell; although their appearance was hideous, they actually had few physical attack methods, relying more on mental magic than evil eye rays.

As a race that had lived here for a thousand years, the Dark Night Spirit Cats, while not actively seeking trouble, did have some ways to deal with Evil Eyes.

The three Dark Night Spirit Cats roared in unison, and an inexplicable mental fluctuation, accompanied by sound wave rings, spread out, echoing in the spacious underground.

Although wide, it was still an underground secret chamber, an indoor environment, so the sound waves were greatly amplified.

Weaker Evil Eyes exploded under the impact of the sound waves, and vengeful spirits swayed precariously under the Dark Night Spirit Cats’ sound waves.

Creatures have a strong sense of territory, and the Dark Night Spirit Cats’ obvious trespassing behavior ignited the wrath of their sworn enemies, the vengeful spirits.

On the first underground level, vengeful spirits emerged from all directions, rushing towards the three Dark Night Spirit Cats with glowing ghost fires.

The Evil Eyes were also extremely hostile to these outsiders who dared to invade their territory.

The low-ranking Evil Eyes suffered heavy casualties, dying from a single roar, but the higher-ranked Evil Eyes were largely unaffected.

After the basketball-sized Evil Eyes died, millstone-sized Evil Eyes emerged.

The Dark Night Spirit Cats were not fools; although their minds might not have been clear when they first woke up, they were absolutely sober now.

They had unleashed a powerful attack in the enemy’s stronghold, wiping out countless of their offspring.

Such hatred could not be explained away in a few words, and it seemed there was no room for explanation between the two sides.

The three Dark Night Spirit Cats were very alert and immediately detected a way out, scrambling a hundred meters in a few leaps, quickly reaching a cave entrance.

The first underground level was even more vast than the main hall above ground.

If there was a city above ground, why couldn’t there be an underground city below?

The Dark Night Spirit Cats ducked and squeezed in, quickly moving forward.

This cave was not tall, and some places were even very narrow, causing the huge Evil Eyes to get stuck.

The vengeful spirits, however, did not face such embarrassment and continued to pursue the three Dark Night Spirit Cats relentlessly.

Soon, the tunnel reached its end, and the three Dark Night Spirit Cats arrived at a corridor where two gargoyles swung their axes down fiercely.

Two of the three Dark Night Spirit Cats leaped to dodge, while the last one suddenly turned back, letting out an earth-shattering roar towards the narrow cave.

The roar, amplified by the narrow cave, echoed through the heavens, causing the ground to tremble slightly.

The vengeful spirits and smaller Evil Eyes that were in hot pursuit immediately suffered heavy casualties.

This Dark Night Spirit Cat seemed even smarter, deftly dodging the gargoyle’s axe and quickly leaping between the two gargoyles.

The gargoyles, clearly lacking intelligence, actually crashed into each other fiercely.

The three Dark Night Spirit Cats spread out; they knew that together their strength was greater, but they also knew that together the enemies would concentrate, making the possibility of being wiped out even greater.

Thus, the first underground level descended into chaos, with huge roars heard everywhere.

The vengeful spirits’ resentment attacks, the Evil Eyes’ evil gazes, the Dark Night Spirit Cats’ spitting attacks, and the gargoyles’ fierce blows.

In the chaos, no one noticed two invisible figures moving rapidly, dodging collisions with various monsters while carefully searching for the passage to the next level.

The first underground level seemed like a naturally formed rock cave, but with some artificial alterations.

On one side of the first underground rock cave was an artificially constructed underground palace.

The palace was built according to the terrain, with walls, the palace itself, and various houses carved directly into the cave.

The gargoyles inhabiting here were varied in form—humanoid and beast-like—and quite powerful.

Each of these semi-living puppets was difficult to deal with; not only were they thick-skinned and tough, but they also had high magic resistance, immense strength, and were tireless.

Well, perhaps due to a lack of magic, they seemed unable to remain active for extended periods, generally preferring hibernation.

With a soft ‘fluttering’ sound, a group of small blood-red bats flew along the rock ceiling, evading the gargoyles’ detection and the vengeful spirits’ perception, scattering in all directions.

“A passage five hundred meters ahead, with a palace on the left side of the passage.

Inside the palace are over twenty powerful gargoyles, and there’s a Ramod sculpture behind which is a stone door,” the red-robed man quickly reported the discovered information to the silver-haired beauty.

The latter released her Soul Nightmare Realm, completely concealing herself and the red-robed man.

This concealment, combined with the help of the invisibility cloak, effectively avoided detection by the gargoyles, vengeful spirits, and Evil Eyes.

However, there was a new problem now: the palace gate only had a very small crack, which bats could pass through, but they could not.

Unless they pushed the gate open a bit, but then they would definitely be exposed.

Seemingly noticing the silver-haired beauty’s distress, the red-robed man casually threw out a puppet.

The puppet grew larger in the wind, quickly becoming a three-meter-tall giant stone-steel puppet.

Its sudden appearance immediately attracted the attention of the gargoyles, who all moved towards the palace gate.

The red-robed man completely disregarded the puppet’s fate, directly forcing the gate open, and the two took the opportunity to sneak in.

With continuous ‘clanking’ sounds, the twenty-four sculptures in two rows all turned their heads, their gazes directed towards the palace entrance.

A powerful aura silently permeated the air.

The steel puppet took two axe blows from the gargoyles, leaving deep marks on its body, yet it seemed unfazed, forcing its way into the palace gate.

The two gargoyles seemed quite wary of this door, only daring to linger outside but not daring to walk in casually.

With a ‘clang!’ a tall knight sculpture, mounted on a stone horse and positioned on the outermost row, drew its longsword.

The stone longsword actually emitted a crisp sound of steel friction.

The ‘thump-thump-thump’ of hooves accompanied the stone knight’s sword swings.

The steel puppet was no match for him, instantly being cut in half.

The stone knight, still not satisfied, urged his stone horse to trample the steel puppet into fragments before returning to its original position.

The ground had intricate patterns, and at its deepest point was a statue of Ramod.

Though damaged, it was not broken; an handsome face bore a hint of an evil smile, and a pair of pitch-black eyes gazed forward.

Despite enduring a thousand years, it remained unbroken, and even if ninety-nine percent of its power had dissipated, the remaining one percent was still enough to deter unauthorized monsters.

The lingering wisps of residual power on it were still able to support these stone puppets in battle, each possessing at least second-tier combat strength.
