Chapter Index

    Inside Anjin City.

A sliver of crystal-clear moonlight pierced through the dark clouds and sprinkled onto the earth.

Xu Lingqing, the old woman, and the child were together in the room.

Just as she was about to lie down and rest, she suddenly heard a strange noise from outside the courtyard.

    “Shh, someone’s coming…”

The old woman’s heart tightened, and she held her grandson tightly in her arms.

Xu Lingqing quietly got up and looked out through the window. A dark shadow was vaguely lurking in the alley.

The shadow looked like a person, but as the moonlight cast it across the wall, the silhouette it left was identical to the blessing diagram on the wall.

“Could it be that the one harming Anjin City isn’t human?”

Xu Lingqing muttered to herself, carefully observing the shadow’s movements.

    Tap, tap, tap…

The crisp footsteps grew closer and closer to the courtyard. The blessing diagram on the wall shone brightly, illuminating the entire yard.

Suddenly, her pupils shrank. She saw a pair of sharp claws reaching out to grab her.

The claw was extremely fast, arriving in the blink of an eye like a bolt of lightning.

In her haste, Xu Lingqing could only use her sword to block the sneak attack, but the claw still grazed her arm.

A sharp pain shot through Xu Lingqing. The wound slowly oozed a pool of blood, which was stained blackish-red.

    “Wuuu, wuuu, wuuu…”

A series of cries, as if from hell, came from the shadow’s mouth. The monster’s eyes glinted sharply as it stared at her.

Only then did Xu Lingqing see clearly that this monster was not some strange beast, but a human wearing a dragon-head crown and a phoenix-feather cloak, nearly twice as fat as a normal adult.

He was probably an abandoned infant, cast out by his family as a child and raised by wild beasts. Never having communicated with humans had led him to become like this.

Such people were not rare on the Firo Continent, but most abandoned infants died young.

Xu Lingqing did not rush to attack this ‘beastman’. With love in her heart, she tried to reform him.

“You should be human too, right? I’m not a bad person!”

The beastman shook the feathers on his body, the dragon-head crown on his head teetering. An ear-piercing cry came from his mouth.

    “Awhoo~ Awhoo~”

Xu Lingqing thought he understood her. She reached out, preparing to stroke his forehead.

But just as she took a step, the beastman’s cries grew even more piercing, forcing Xu Lingqing to cover her ears.

The old woman was so shaken by the sound she almost fainted, her arms involuntarily tightening around her grandson.

“Quiet down. If you have any difficulties, I can help you,” Xu Lingqing continued to try, enduring the piercing screams.

But the next second, a black shadow flashed before her eyes and rushed into the house.

When she looked back, the child’s screams and the old woman’s terrified cries came from inside the house.

    The child was gone!

The anger in Xu Lingqing’s heart instantly ignited. She raised her sword and charged fiercely at the beastman monster.

“Damn it! You even have an accomplice!”

The beastman stopped screaming, got down on all fours, and used the walls to flee into the alley.

Xu Lingqing summoned her strength and chased after the beastman’s back.

Not long into the chase, her face suddenly darkened. The beastman’s speed was simply too fast. At this rate, she would definitely not be able to keep up.

After chasing for a long distance, she could no longer see the beastman’s back.

Helpless, Xu Lingqing could only temporarily return to the house to take care of the old woman’s emotions first.

Chen Anping’s words made the old man laugh, almost causing him to fall with his crutches.

The old man looked at Chen Anping’s sincere eyes and asked tentatively, “Young man, you don’t look like you’re joking, do you?”

“Old sir… I was just saying. Don’t laugh at me, but I’ve studied medicine for three days!”

Hearing this, the old man leaned against the park bench and laughed out loud.

“Hahaha, I, Li Tianrui, have never met a young man as honest as you!”

“Li Tianrui? You can’t be the Li Tianrui of Tianhai City, can you?”

Chen Anping’s breathing quickened, a deep sense of shock and disbelief welling up in his heart.

He had worked in the professional world for many years and had memorized the names of the more famous figures in the city.

Li Tianrui was even Chen Anping’s idol.

According to records, Li Tianrui started from scratch. At eighteen, he was an executive at a company. At twenty, he owned his first company. At twenty-five, he became the top figure in Tianhai City. At thirty, he became the richest man in Tianhai.

The records about him after that seemed to have disappeared, and no matter how one searched, nothing could be found.

Seeing the disabled legs, Chen Anping couldn’t help but make a connection.

Li Tianrui’s kind eyes instantly became majestic, and an unstoppable aura spread out.

It was as if he was not a disabled person now, but a prominent figure that everyone looked up to.

    “I should be!”

Chen Anping almost couldn’t resist taking out a magnifying glass to observe him, to see what made him so special.

“My idol, can I have your autograph?”

Li Tianrui looked at Chen Anping, puzzled. “Of course, you can!”

“Then can we take a photo together?”

    “Uh… no problem.”

    “Then can I treat you?”

Li Tianrui’s mind clearly couldn’t keep up. He responded with a, “Hmm!”

Chen Anping looked at the three marks on the man’s leg, his heart filled with confidence. “In that case, you can’t go back on your word!”

“Uh… you’re quite an interesting young man!”

A while later, Chen Anping followed Li Tianrui to a large villa, and at the same time, posted a photo of himself with Li Tianrui on his social media.

According to Chen Anping’s current thinking, even if he died, he had to leave behind something worthy of being remembered by future generations!

    Unfortunately… he had nothing.

As soon as he walked into Li Tianrui’s large villa, the pungent smell of medicine filled the air, making one want to gag.

“Young man, are you still confident?”

Chen Anping swallowed the churning bile in his stomach. “Thank you for believing in me!”

Li Tianrui kept smiling, but his heart was singing a different tune.

    Did I believe in you?

I just don’t want to discourage a dying young man, to let you spend the rest of your time in peace!

The two came to Li Tianrui’s room. On the table were all the most advanced medical instruments on the market.

There were also two doctors in white coats, wearing glasses, with slightly graying hair and serious expressions.

From their eyes and aura, they were definitely not ordinary figures in the medical world.

“Old Mr. Li! You must take your medicine on time to ensure the wound on your leg doesn’t continue to worsen!”

Li Tianrui glared at him. “I know my own body. Isn’t it just a slightly longer walk!”

“This… please, Old Mr. Li, take care of your body, so that the person behind you can…”

Li Tianrui interrupted the doctor, shouting loudly, “Shut up! One more word and get the hell out!”

Chen Anping was already drenched in sweat. The kind old man from just now was like a different person.

“Little friend, I’ll give you a chance!”
