Chapter 322: What Difficulty Is That?
by MachineSamurai9124Eren Valley is one of the core landmarks in Gu Long’s Wuxia novel, *Juedai Shuangjiao* (The Proud Twins).
It is both a Forbidden Land famous throughout the Jianghu, the place where the protagonist Little Fish grew up, and the dwelling of five core members of the ‘Ten Great Evildoers,’ filled with danger and mystery.
Eren Valley is hidden deep in a basin surrounded by mountains, formed by the embrace of four great peaks, exuding an overall aura of gloom and shadow.
The valley entrance is carved with the strange inscription: ‘Entering the Valley is Like Ascending Heaven; Those Who Come, Walk This Way.’ The mountain path leading in is rugged and difficult, and the valley floor is littered with traps.
Yu Xian and Zhang Sanniang stopped temporarily upon arriving outside Eren Valley.
“I heard this Eren Valley is fraught with danger, and we also don’t know where Hero Yan is,” Zhang Sanniang frowned, unsure whether to charge in directly or sneak in to investigate.
Zhang Sanniang turned to look at Yu Xian, only to see him still wearing a faint smile. “What are your thoughts?”
Yu Xian’s expression clearly showed he was fully confident.
“I have already found out where Yan Nantian is,” Yu Xian said lightly.
“Found him?” Zhang Sanniang was surprised to hear this. Did Yu Xian know Yan Nantian’s location all along?
“Mm,” Yu Xian nodded.
“You knew where he was all along?” Zhang Sanniang asked.
“It seems you truly don’t know much about your future husband!” Yu Xian smirked mischievously, his eyes fixed on Zhang Sanniang.
“Hmph, what future husband? I haven’t agreed to it yet!” Although the two had embraced more than once on the journey here, she still hadn’t agreed!
“Alas, that’s why I used the word ‘future’! Why don’t you remove it now?”
Zhang Sanniang’s cheeks flushed again, and she spat, “Young Master Yu, stop teasing Sanniang. Let’s talk about Hero Yan’s whereabouts first.”
“Yan Nantian is trapped in a hidden location deep within Eren Valley. The valley is full of mechanisms and traps, but with me here, we can certainly rescue him safely,” Yu Xian put away his playful manner and said seriously.
“Then how should we enter? Eren Valley is so treacherous.” A hint of pleasant surprise flashed in Zhang Sanniang’s eyes, immediately followed by worry.
“What difficulty is that?” As soon as Yu Xian finished speaking, he swept Zhang Sanniang into his arms by wrapping an arm around her waist. Without waiting for her reaction, he soared into the air, flying by controlling the air.
Zhang Sanniang was terrified. By the time she regained her senses, they were already above Eren Valley, and she was held tightly in Yu Xian’s embrace.
She instinctively clutched Yu Xian’s lapel and looked down, seeing the Eren Valley shrouded in swirling mist, eerie and terrifying. Various strangely shaped structures were faintly visible, and occasionally, a few strange sounds drifted up from the valley floor, sending chills down her spine.
Although Zhang Sanniang felt fear in her heart, thinking of Yan Nantian possibly suffering somewhere below, she mustered her courage again. She looked up at Yu Xian, seeing his expression calm and his flight steady, as if the surrounding dangers were utterly insignificant to him.
Zhang Sanniang couldn’t help but feel a greater sense of admiration and reliance toward Yu Xian.
“You… you can actually fly!” This was what shocked Zhang Sanniang the most.
Yu Xian’s flight was not like the Lightness Skill they used; Lightness Skill required borrowing force, but Yu Xian’s flight was direct, requiring no external force! What kind of ability was this?
“That’s why I say you know too little about your future husband,” Yu Xian said with a smile again.
Hearing this, Zhang Sanniang’s cheeks turned crimson, and she lightly spat, “Young Master Yu is always so improper. Saving Hero Yan is the priority right now.”
Yu Xian chuckled lightly, stopped teasing her, and increased his flying speed.
Soon, they arrived at the hidden location deep within Eren Valley. Yu Xian brought Zhang Sanniang down in front of a somewhat dilapidated house. Although the house was a bit broken, it still carried the scent of habitation.
“Here?” Zhang Sanniang asked.
Yu Xian nodded. “He is inside. He is alone in there now.”
He had already swept the area with his Divine Thought outside Eren Valley and knew the situation inside Eren Valley clearly. This broken house was the residence of the Divine Doctor Wan Chunliu. It was he who had saved Yan Nantian back then and had been using medicine to sustain Yan Nantian’s life.
Zhang Sanniang heard this, looked at the current environment, and then cautiously walked toward the house. After exploring inside and finding no movement, she pushed the door open and walked in.
The light inside the room was dim, permeated with a faint medicinal odor. Zhang Sanniang cautiously approached, her gaze searching all over the room.
In a corner of the room, there was a wooden tub. Sitting inside the tub was a person, a person with disheveled hair. Zhang Sanniang approached alertly. The liquid in the tub should be medicinal water, with many herbs floating on the surface.
When she clearly saw the face of the person inside the tub, Zhang Sanniang couldn’t help but gasp. Wasn’t this Yan Nantian, the person she had been searching for?
Yan Nantian was sitting upright in the wooden tub, the medicinal water covering him up to his chest, leaving only his head visible above the neck. His complexion was pale, and his breath was faint; it was clear he had suffered extremely severe injuries.
“Brother Yan, how are you?” she asked softly, her voice trembling slightly.
But Yan Nantian’s eyes were tightly shut, seemingly oblivious to anything happening outside.
“Back then, Yan Nantian entered Eren Valley to pursue Jiang Qin, who betrayed Jiang Feng. He was ambushed with drugged food and wine by Haha’er and the others, collapsing afterward. Subsequently, he was brutally tortured by the five great evildoers—Du Sha, Li Dazui, and the others—resulting in eight out of his fourteen Meridians being destroyed, turning him into a helpless ‘living dead man.’
Just as Li Dazui and the others were about to kill him, the Divine Doctor Wan Chunliu used the excuse of ‘using him for drug testing’ to rescue Yan Nantian from the hands of the evildoers.
Although Wan Chunliu coexisted with the evildoers in Eren Valley, he held a special status due to his medical skills, and his residence became Yan Nantian’s hiding place. This location was extremely secret, unknown to outsiders.
Yan Nantian remained unconscious in Wan Chunliu’s residence for over ten years, during which Wan Chunliu continuously treated him with various herbs to maintain his vitality,” Yu Xian explained to Zhang Sanniang the reason for Yan Nantian’s condition.
Hearing this, Zhang Sanniang finally understood how much Yan Nantian had endured and felt immense heartache. The current Yan Nantian was equivalent to a living dead man! No wonder she could never find him.
Zhang Sanniang’s eyes reddened slightly, filled with heartache and anger—heartache for the torment Yan Nantian suffered, and anger at the vicious deeds of those evildoers.
She turned to look at Yu Xian, her gaze holding a trace of pleading: “Young Master Yu, do you have a way to save him?”
Yu Xian paused slightly, then smiled and said, “I do.”
Yu Xian’s slight pause fell into Zhang Sanniang’s eyes. She felt she might be demanding too much. Yu Xian had already told her Yan Nantian’s whereabouts and brought her here; he had already done everything he could for her. The reason Yu Xian helped her was only because he wanted to pursue her. Now, if she were to ask Yu Xian to save Yan Nantian as well…
Zhang Sanniang felt she couldn’t even bring herself to ask.
