Chapter Index

Zhang Sanniang let out a startled cry, her cheeks instantly flushing crimson. She instinctively tried to break free but found herself held tightly in Yu Xian’s embrace, unable to move.

Yu Xian’s chest was broad and warm, carrying an aura of reassurance that involuntarily quickened Zhang Sanniang’s heartbeat.

She secretly glanced up at Yu Xian and saw that his gaze was fixed firmly ahead, as if he held the entire world under his command.

“Sanniang, hold on to me tightly.” Yu Xian’s voice was deep and gentle, like a warm current flowing into Zhang Sanniang’s heart.

The horse was galloping rapidly. She dared not struggle anymore and instead nestled obediently in Yu Xian’s arms, feeling the warmth and strength radiating from him.

After the two of them and the horse had sped a considerable distance, the horse slowly reduced its pace.

Zhang Sanniang slightly raised her head and looked at Yu Xian’s distinctly contoured profile, a strange feeling welling up in her heart.

This feeling was like the layers of ripples spreading across a lake surface when caressed by a spring breeze. She gently bit her lower lip, unsure of what to say.

Yu Xian seemed to sense her gaze, lowered his head slightly, and a faint, almost imperceptible smile curved his lips.

That smile was like a twinkling star in the night sky, making Zhang Sanniang’s cheeks burn even hotter.

She flusteredly lowered her head, burying her face in Yu Xian’s chest. Listening to the sound of his steady, powerful heartbeat, she gradually felt reassured.

However, they had only just met, and her heart was still occupied with thoughts of Yan Nantian…

“Young Master Yu, can you let me go? This… is improper for us.” Zhang Sanniang was still too ashamed to lift her head.

“I think this is quite nice,” Yu Xian said with a smile.

The horse beneath them walked forward one step at a time.

“Young Master Yu, we just met.” Zhang Sanniang wanted to break free from Yu Xian’s embrace, but there was only so much space on a horse; any struggle would cause friction between them…

“I have long communicated spiritually with Sanniang. Now that I have met her, it is love at first sight.” Yu Xian had no intention of letting Zhang Sanniang go.

How could such a beauty be given to another?

“Young Master Yu, you… you are too reckless! I am merely of humble appearance, unworthy of the Young Master’s high regard.” Zhang Sanniang’s voice held a hint of panic and shyness. Although she had traveled the Jianghu and seen much turmoil, facing such direct affection from Yu Xian left her somewhat at a loss.

Yu Xian chuckled lightly, tightening the arm around Zhang Sanniang’s waist and pulling her even closer to him.

“Sanniang, do not be so modest. In my eyes, you are the most captivating scenery in this world.” His voice was deep and magnetic, seeming to carry an inexplicable magic that made Zhang Sanniang’s heart beat even faster.

Zhang Sanniang’s cheeks flushed crimson. She tried to break free again, but Yu Xian’s embrace was like an impregnable fortress, leaving her unable to move.

“Young Master Yu, my heart has someone it cares for. I hope the Young Master can understand.” She could only sigh helplessly.

“I am aware of whom Sanniang holds dear. But matters of the heart are not immutable. Perhaps in the days to come, Sanniang will discover that I am the one worthy of your lifelong commitment,” Yu Xian said confidently.

Zhang Sanniang was slightly stunned; she hadn’t expected Yu Xian to be so persistent. She raised her head and looked at Yu Xian with a complex gaze.

“Young Master Yu, how can matters of the heart be treated as a game? Sanniang and Hero Yan share a deep affection that cannot be easily severed in a moment.”

Yu Xian’s lips curved upwards. He leaned in close to Zhang Sanniang’s ear and whispered, “Sanniang, your heart is in turmoil.”

Zhang Sanniang’s body trembled slightly. That warm breath brushing against her ear made her heart even more frantic. She instinctively tried to turn her head away but found she couldn’t.

“Young Master Yu, please do not be like this.” Zhang Sanniang’s voice held a tremor. She tried hard to make her tone sound firmer, but the slight quiver in her final syllable betrayed her inner tension.

Yu Xian did not let go; instead, he held her even tighter, gently resting his chin on her shoulder, his voice laced with seduction: “Sanniang, give me a chance, and give yourself a chance. Perhaps you will discover new possibilities.”

Zhang Sanniang closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. The image of Yan Nantian constantly surfaced in her mind—that straightforward, upright, and chivalrous hero, the object of her admiration for many years.

But at this moment, Yu Xian’s embrace was so warm, and his words so moving, that her heart began to waver.

“Young Master Yu…” Zhang Sanniang slowly opened her eyes, which were filled with confusion. She never imagined she would face such a sudden emotion under these circumstances.

“Sanniang, actually, I look forward to you calling me husband.”

Zhang Sanniang wanted to retort that such a day would never come, but Yu Xian gently stroked her fine hair with a tender and delicate movement, causing her body to gradually lose its strength. She could only let herself fall into Yu Xian’s embrace.

“Sanniang, there is no need to rush a decision. I will use time to prove that my feelings for you are no less than anyone else’s.”

Yu Xian’s words were like a spring breeze on her face, carrying an irresistible gentleness that caused layers of ripples to spread across the lake of Zhang Sanniang’s heart.

She looked up at Yu Xian. His deep eyes seemed to hold the stars and the sea, causing her to involuntarily sink into them.

“Young Master Yu… This, this is too sudden.” Zhang Sanniang’s voice was as faint as a mosquito’s buzz, and the crimson on her cheeks deepened. She had never experienced such direct and passionate expression of emotion and was momentarily at a loss.

Seeing this, Yu Xian’s lips curved into a doting smile. “Sanniang, matters of the heart inherently require little preparation. I only wish you can feel my sincerity; leave the rest to time.”

Zhang Sanniang felt the warmth coming from behind her, and the defenses in her heart seemed to be crumbling bit by bit.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. When she opened them again, there was a new firmness and tenderness in her eyes.

“Young Master Yu, you… Let’s go save Hero Yan first, alright?” Regardless of what might happen between her and Yu Xian later, what she wanted most right now was to find Yan Nantian.

Upon hearing this, a flicker of joy crossed Yu Xian’s eyes. He knew this was Zhang Sanniang giving him a chance.

“Good. We will head to Eren Valley now. I promise you I will rescue Yan Nantian.” His voice was gentle yet firm, seemingly capable of piercing through all obstacles straight to Zhang Sanniang’s heart.

With Yu Xian’s assurance, Zhang Sanniang’s heart settled. She slightly turned to the side and looked at Yu Xian with tender eyes, which held both expectation for the future and trust in the person before her.

“Young Master Yu, are you always this smooth-tongued with your Ladies?” Zhang Sanniang recalled the rumors surrounding Yu Xian—that he was surrounded by beautiful women.

“Of course, these are not sweet nothings; they are all heartfelt words. When you meet them later, you will know that everything I say is true,” Yu Xian replied with a smile.
