Chapter Index

    Princess Vera listened intently.

“Your Grace, look at these notes. If you change them slightly, the effect will be completely different.”

Si Yan’s fingers danced on the keys.

The notes were still the same few, but Si Yan made some changes to the melody, and the feeling it conveyed was distinctly different.

Si Yan then helped Princess Vera improve it little by little.

The foundation of this piece was already there.

No matter how it was changed, it would be difficult for it to become a classic.

But after the changes, it would sound much better and have a higher standard.

And so, Si Yan helped Princess Vera revise it section by section.

In one hour, Si Yan revised the entire piece.

Then Si Yan played the revised piece in its entirety again.

Princess Vera’s eyes lit up beside him.

She had a clear understanding of her own composing skills.

She knew her compositions were generally mediocre.

But she never expected that such an ordinary piece, after being revised by Si Yan, would instantly elevate a notch.

From a passing grade, it instantly rose to “good”!

It could even be called excellent!

    Princess Vera hadn’t expected it.

Si Yan was actually so powerful!

Just one hour of improvement made her piece undergo a complete transformation, as if it had changed into a different person.

As if it had changed its appearance.

But it wasn’t a complete subversion.

If it were a complete subversion, it would be equivalent to Si Yan composing a new piece.

Si Yan merely improved upon her existing piece, which was the greatest challenge.

After all, her foundation wasn’t very well laid.

This significantly increased Princess Vera’s recognition of Si Yan.

    “Your Grace, you try.”

    Si Yan invited.

After hearing Si Yan’s revised piece, Princess Vera was already eager to try.

Seeing Si Yan’s invitation, she sat down in front of the piano and began to play.

As she played, she experienced the changes in the improved piece.

Not only did it sound better.

Even while playing, it felt as if it had become easier to play!

    When the piece was finished.

“Your Grace, after Mr. Si Yan’s improvements, it really sounds much better~”

    Jesse applauded from the side.

Si Yan then turned to the second page and began to refine a new score for Princess Vera.

This continued until 12 AM, by which time Si Yan had refined a total of three scores for Princess Vera.

During this period, relying on the Mystic Artist, Si Yan also earned over 500 Career Charm Points.

All three scores underwent significant changes after passing through Si Yan’s hands.

This also further increased Princess Vera’s approval of Si Yan.

“Mr. Si Yan, you’ve worked hard. Let me take you back~”

After 12 AM, Jesse escorted Si Yan back to his residence.

The next day, the celebration officially began.

    This day was quite dull.

In Si Yan’s opinion, it was rather dull.

Princess Vera performed some formal rituals according to some ancient customs of the Vampire World.

These rituals were somewhat similar to human sacrificial ceremonies.

A morning passed, and the ceremony was still not over.

However, there was some rest time at noon.

The Western players were also very quiet this morning and did not make any moves.

“Mr. Si Yan, I’m really looking forward to your performance tomorrow~”

Many Vampire Dukes gathered around Si Yan.

The ceremony didn’t end until the afternoon.

In the evening, it was still a banquet.

“Mr. Si Yan, do you know why we all love art so much?”

After the banquet began, Duke Merck found an opportunity and quietly pulled Si Yan aside.

Si Yan’s expression shifted: “Your Grace, is there something special about it?”

Vampire Nobles were quite fond of art.

And Princess Vera seemed to have an additional fondness.

    That was gourmet food.

The preferences of each Vampire Noble varied.

Music was something all Vampire Nobles enjoyed.

Even if it wasn’t an extreme passion, Vampire Nobles loved to listen to beautiful music.

Of course, the music Vampire Nobles enjoyed listening to was very specific.

    They tended towards elegant music.

And their preference for instrumental music was greater than for vocal music.

Things like some overly individualistic and vulgar rap from the real world.

If brought here, you would probably become a cold, dried corpse after singing just two lines.

In the eyes of many players in the real world, the main reason Vampires loved art was probably their extremely long lifespans.

If they didn’t find some hobbies for themselves, the Vampires’ long lives would probably become very boring.

Their mentality might even undergo significant changes.

    However…

Looking at Duke Merck’s posture now, could there be some hidden secret here?

Duke Merck glanced around, then his finger moved slightly, and Si Yan felt the surroundings suddenly quiet down.

It seemed he had isolated the area.

Then, Duke Merck spoke: “This secret is generally only known by Vampire Nobles who have lived for more than 500 years. I am now telling it to Mr. Si Yan.”

Seeing Duke Merck’s seriousness, Si Yan’s expression also became solemn: “I’m all ears.”

Duke Merck said: “Actually, this secret was only discovered by us after Princess Vera became a Princess in just a few hundred years. Before that, all nobles’ pursuit of art was an instinctive pursuit.”

Si Yan made an “oh” sound and did not interrupt.

Duke Merck continued: “The longer we live, the stronger our power. But with Princess Vera, it became an exception.”

“Princess Vera hasn’t lived half as long as I have, yet she is more powerful than all the Dukes. Mr. Si Yan, have you noticed the biggest difference between her and us? Aside from her being a High-Class Vampire.”

Si Yan pondered for a moment and said: “She gives me the feeling that she hasn’t lived for 1000 years at all. But even though Your Grace looks so young, the first time I saw Your Grace, I could feel that Your Grace had lived for at least a thousand years.”

Duke Merck’s eyes showed appreciation and he said: “That’s right, Mr. Si Yan.”

Then, he explained in detail: “The longer one lives, the stronger one’s power. But the longer we live, the more our entire state will age.”

“This aging, we call decrepitude. This decrepitude penetrates deep into our bones and blood, making us increasingly’static.’ Once we sink deeper and deeper into this state, our power growth and mentality will all be affected.”

After Duke Merck said this, Si Yan understood.

    Humans are short-lived.

In just a few decades, they are born, grow up, become adults, start families, and grow old.

    A life is very condensed.

But even in those few decades, once a person passes 50, their thoughts become increasingly rigid, increasingly stubborn, and increasingly difficult to accept new things.

Their brains are unwilling to move much anymore.

In fact, let alone 50 years old.

Even after 30, try asking someone to learn new knowledge?

And when older, a person becomes incredibly stubborn.

Past experiences also become their shackles, essentially fixing their lives.

This is only a few decades.

    Vampires live much longer.

Of course, Vampires’ physical condition does not change that much.

If a person lives to 80, but their physical condition is still like a 20-year-old, then their thoughts might not be like an elderly person’s either.

Therefore, generally speaking, only Vampires who live for more than 500 years will clearly feel the power of time.

    Time makes them “decrepit.”

In this “decrepit” state, Vampires remain in a state equivalent to “static” for a long time.

The growth of their mentality and power will also be greatly affected.

“Therefore, Mr. Si Yan, this is why we love art so much. Because this love can make our mentality younger, keep our blood from congealing, and make our souls tremble.”

“However, no matter how much we love it, without good works to stimulate our souls, it doesn’t have much effect. This is also why Mr. Si Yan’s works are so sought after by us, and Princess Vera is probably precisely for this reason that she looks at you differently.”

    Duke Merck revealed the answer.

    “Thank you, Your Grace!”

Si Yan bowed to Duke Merck.

This should be a secret of the Vampires.

No Eastern players knew this secret.

    Those guys in the West…

It seemed they had some understanding.

Otherwise, they wouldn’t have made so many targeted preparations.

“It’s good that you know, Mr. Si Yan, but don’t reveal this secret. Princess Vera is a thousand years old, and she is even more special. She needs you more urgently than we do. If you handle it well, you might even gain her friendship.”

    Duke Merck said.

As he spoke, his hand moved, and the surrounding environment became noisy again.
