Chapter 64: Love and Chaos
by MachineSamurai9124Luxurious crystal chandeliers hung high, long tables were laden with food and wine, and servants stood around, ready to respond to the guests’ needs at any moment.
After a cursory glance, Sirian realized that the expenses for this team-building event were not low. Given the City Guard Bureau’s nature, they certainly wouldn’t be so generous as to spend a fortune entertaining the employees.
“Did you guys do this?”
Sirian whispered to Meifuni beside him.
“Of course,” Meifuni patted her chest, “Only the enthusiastic Centipede Merchant Guild would sponsor the brave warriors who protect the city!”
As expected.
Sirian looked around. Besides his action team, other teams were also invited to participate, as well as some department heads.
In addition to the City Guard Bureau employees, some of Heer City’s dignitaries and people from other transcendent forces were also present.
Rather than a team-building event, this was more like a banquet held by the Centipede Merchant Guild, inviting various forces from Heer City.
The arrival of Sirian and the others seemed more like a whim of Meifuni’s.
She was always generous to her own people, even if Sirian might die in an accident tomorrow.
“Where’s Valerie?”
Sirian looked around, wanting to resolve this troublesome person as soon as possible.
“I don’t know,” Meifuni shook her head, “It seems like she’s late.”
“Are you all looking for me?”
Suddenly, a familiar yet unfamiliar voice sounded from behind the two. Sirian turned around, and the other party was so close that they almost bumped into each other.
Sirian immediately took a step back, his nose still filled with the scent of perfume.
“Hello there.”
Valerie was wearing a purple dress, revealing her snow-white neck and back, covered with a layer of black yarn, looking mysterious and enchanting.
“Then I won’t disturb you two.”
Meifuni didn’t give Sirian a chance to speak, mingling into the crowd and disappearing.
“It’s nice to see you again, Sirian.”
Valerie moved forward with a wine glass, teasing, “Weren’t you avoiding me before? Why are you taking the initiative to find me this time?”
Sirian’s tone was a bit cold, “Take the initiative to find you? I just want to resolve unnecessary troubles.”
“Oh?”
Valerie moved forward a bit more, and Sirian could even smell the alcohol on her breath.
“How do you want to resolve me?”
Valerie extended a fingertip and pressed it lightly on Sirian’s chest.
“Sir, would you like some wine?”
A waiter, thinking the two were flirting, asked in a low voice.
“I don’t drink wine,” Sirian paused for a moment, then said, “Can I have a glass of milk?”
The waiter was puzzled for a moment. It was the first time he had heard such a request in this situation, but he still obediently agreed.
“Milk?” Valerie was amused, “Are you a child, Sirian?”
“Strictly speaking, I won’t be considered an adult until after this year.”
Valerie said with slight surprise, “I thought you just looked young… You seem much more mature than people your age.”
The waiter brought a glass of milk, and Sirian took a sip and held it in his hand.
“Can we continue with the main topic?”
Valerie said softly, “What do you want to do?”
“To be blunt, I hate you, Valerie.”
Sirian said without reservation, “Your advances make me feel uneasy, and I feel like you have ulterior motives.”
Faced with such direct words, Valerie remained unmoved.
“Is that enough? Or do you want me to say something more vicious?”
Sirian thought Valerie would turn around and leave, but she still stood there, looking at him with a smile.
“That’s not vicious enough, Sirian, and… I did have ulterior motives towards you at first, but… can you give me a moment to tell you about it?”
Saying that, Valerie didn’t give Sirian time to respond, reaching out to grab Sirian’s hand and leading him away from the crowd.
Arriving at a private room, Valerie took off her high heels and nestled into the soft sofa.
The door to the private room was not closed. From here, one could directly see the crowd on the first floor, and laughter and music came in without hindrance.
“That was about a year ago. Meifuni told me that she was working at the City Guard Bureau, so I went to see her when she got off work.”
In the dim light, Valerie’s voice slowly came.
“It was at that time that I first met Dailin. At first sight, I fell in love with him.”
Sirian could remain calm when facing the sinking of the Spirit Realm, but at this moment, he felt a great sense of confusion and bewilderment.
“What are you talking about?”
Valerie said regardless, “Unfortunately, after chasing him for a few days, I discovered that Dailin not only wasn’t interested in me, he didn’t even look at me. All his thoughts were on Anya.”
Mentioning Anya, Valerie’s tone was angry.
“Anya, that bitch!”
Sirian’s expression became awkward. Things were rapidly spiraling in an unexpected direction.
“Anya used to be a low-class dancer, maneuvering among men. By chance, she became a Torchbearer, and only then did she get her current life.”
Valerie clenched her fists, cursing, “But such a person has Dailin so infatuated, knowing her past and still chasing after her… even though Anya doesn’t care about him at all.”
Sirian blocked his ears, not wanting to get involved in this complicated office romance at all.
But he still subconsciously asked heartlessly.
“And then?”
“Then I became enemies with Anya, opposing her everywhere.”
Valerie didn’t bother to pretend anymore, sitting cross-legged on the sofa carelessly, not caring about whether she was exposed or damaging her image.
“The reason I was so enthusiastic about you before was because Anya cares about you a lot and is very interested in you.”
Valerie took a big gulp of wine and said casually, “She even secretly investigated you, like when you bought things at the Centipede Merchant Guild.”
The words were like a bucket of cold water poured over Sirian’s head.
Sirian didn’t think Anya was interested in him as she said. She seemed more wary of him.
Why?
“Sorry, Sirian.”
Valerie put her hands together and bowed, “I was so enthusiastic about you at first just to disgust Anya.”
Sirian moved warily to the side.
“Now, I’m starting to really like you a little.”
Valerie took a deep breath and said drunkenly.
“Sirian, you’re different from other men.”
This familiar sentence made Sirian move again.
“Why are you so afraid of me? Am I not your type, or do you already have someone in your heart?”
Valerie leaned closer, almost touching Sirian.
Sirian replied calmly, “I don’t know what to say.”
“Haha, you really seem like a child at this time.”
Valerie laughed, leaning her whole body on his chest.
Sirian could feel Valerie’s body temperature, listening to her breathing. A certain atmosphere was fermenting between the two, rising within the narrow private room.
“Don’t be nervous, Sirian. I know very well what kind of person I am. My liking for you is only temporary. Maybe the day after tomorrow, I’ll be madly in love with someone else.”
Valerie unbuttoned Sirian’s collar, stroking his chest.
“But it doesn’t matter. People live in the present, and the satisfaction of the moment is enough.”
Valerie felt something poking her and stopped her movements, saying jokingly.
“What’s this?”
Sirian said calmly.
“My sword.”
“Haha, you bad guy, your sword… how is it really a sword?”
Valerie looked at Sirian as if he were a lunatic, completely sober.
“I’m a City Guard Bureau employee. It’s normal to carry a weapon.”
Sirian held the boiling sword horizontally in front of him, like a boundary, blocking Valerie’s enthusiasm outside.
“But it’s very obstructive,” Valerie wasn’t discouraged, her eyes becoming affectionate, “Can you make an exception for me?”
Sirian shook his head firmly.
“I refuse.”
In the past, Sirian was always accompanied by weapons. Only once did he abandon his weapon and dance with the girl he loved, but then, disaster struck.
The sword is not only a weapon to Sirian, but also a symbol, as if as long as he holds the sword tightly, Sirian can grasp his own destiny.
“What a pity… but it doesn’t matter.”
Valerie’s shoulder strap slipped down, revealing a large area of skin. She raised her hand and closed the door of the private room.
“I really like your hypocritical appearance,” she almost kissed Sirian’s face, “It makes people want to conquer you.”
Valerie said, unbuttoning her clothes and revealing her body without reservation.
“Sirian, you have to be strong, If I conquer you too easily, I will throw you away like trash.”
Sirian scrutinized Valerie’s body, from top to bottom, until at a certain point, his gaze stopped and could not move away.
Seeing this, Valerie chuckled triumphantly.
“You really are a child.”
She hugged Sirian with one hand and gently stroked below her left breast, which was where Sirian’s gaze was fixed.
“What, it’s beautiful, right?”
Valerie’s fingertips scraped against her skin. She had a rose tattoo below her left breast, with bright and gorgeous colors, adding more Weird feeling to her already charming self.
“Want to kiss it?”
Valerie seduced, reaching out to press Sirian’s chest.
Expecting to feel the teenager’s flustered heartbeat, she was only met with steady breathing.
