Chapter Index

Lu Qing’s apprenticeship ceremony was not complicated.

Old Doctor Chen was not a person who liked to put on a show, so he kept everything simple.

Therefore, Lu Qing just followed the process, in front of everyone, kowtowed to the founder, then kowtowed, served tea, and said, “Master, please drink tea.”

Old Doctor Chen sat on the chair, took the tea, and took a sip. The apprenticeship ceremony was thus completed.

    “Alright, get up.”

After drinking the tea, Old Doctor Chen said to Lu Qing.

    “Yes, Master.”

Lu Qing stood up and stood aside with his hands down.

Old Doctor Chen also stood up and bowed to the villagers in the courtyard:

“Thank you, fellow villagers, for coming to witness my disciple acceptance ceremony. Today, I have gained a beloved disciple and am very happy. The courtyard is small and the house is small, so I can’t prepare any food for you. I can only prepare a small gift for everyone.”

He then picked up a tray from the table behind him, on which were rows of small cloth bags.

“These are medicinal bags that I made in my spare time. They have some effect of calming the nerves, helping sleep, and repelling mosquitoes.”

“If you don’t mind, you can take one or two back and hang them at the head of your bed. It can protect your family from mosquito infestation for a month and a half.”

“So amazing?!” The villagers looked at the medicinal bags with pleasant surprise.

Now is the most annoying season for mosquitoes. If this medicinal bag is as good as the old doctor said, it would be really exciting.

For a moment, the villagers who had wanted to be polite could not refuse.

Seeing this, the old doctor smiled and said to Lu Qing, “Ah Qing, go and distribute these medicinal bags to the villagers.”

    “Yes, Master.”

Lu Qing took the tray, walked to the villagers, and distributed the medicinal bags one by one.

    “Grandpa Zhang, here you go.”

The first person Lu Qing gave it to was Grandpa Zhang.

“Good boy, remember to learn from Old Doctor Chen in the future.”

Grandpa Zhang took the medicinal bag and said with a gratified look.

“I will, Grandpa Zhang,” Lu Qing nodded seriously.

The other villagers took the medicinal bags and smelled them. They only felt a medicinal fragrance that was refreshing, rich but not strong. They felt refreshed and knew that it was indeed a good thing, so they quickly put the medicinal bags away.

This was personally prepared by the old doctor. It was probably impossible to buy it elsewhere, so it had to be kept well.

“Fellow villagers, after you go back, remember to hang the medicinal bags in your rooms. Otherwise, after half a month, the medicinal smell will dissipate and the medicinal bags will be useless.”

Seeing that some villagers were cherishing the medicinal bags and hiding them, Old Doctor Chen couldn’t help but remind them.

Hearing the old doctor say this, some villagers gave up the idea of going back and hiding the medicinal bags.

After witnessing the apprenticeship ceremony, Grandpa Zhang and the others began to say goodbye one by one.

However, before leaving, Grandpa Zhang pulled Lu Qing aside and told him to remember to go and worship his grandfather and parents when he had time and tell them the good news.

Seeing that Lu Qing had seriously agreed, he went down the mountain with satisfaction.

After all the villagers had left, Lu Qing still stood in front of the small courtyard, watching everyone’s backs as they walked down the mountain.

“Ah Qing, your grandfather made a good connection back then, which is why you have such a group of good neighbors today.”

Old Doctor Chen walked to Lu Qing’s side and praised the crowd at the foot of the mountain.

“Master, I never knew about these things. My grandfather and parents never mentioned them,” Lu Qing said.

“This just shows that your grandfather was a person of high moral character who did not expect anything in return for his kindness. Unfortunately, I came here a little late and did not have the chance to meet such a scholar with such character.”

Old Doctor Chen said with some regret.

He had a feeling that if he had come here earlier, he might have become a close friend of Lu Qing’s grandfather.

“Master, do you know how my parents died?” Lu Qing suddenly asked.

“Because of what Old Zhang said earlier?”

“Yes, I always thought my parents died in an accident, but from what Grandpa Zhang said earlier, it seems there is a hidden story,” Lu Qing nodded.

In the original owner’s memory, he believed that his parents had died in an accident. Now it seemed that it was not that simple.

Old Doctor Chen was silent for a moment, then shook his head.

“I don’t know about this either. During the time your parents passed away, I happened to be in the city treating a nobleman. When I came back, I heard that your parents had unfortunately drowned. But I didn’t get to see the bodies, so I don’t know if it’s true.”

“If you want to know the truth, I’m afraid you’ll have to ask Old Zhang and the others.”

    Lu Qing was silent.

In fact, in the original owner’s memory, the information he got was the same.

His parents had unfortunately drowned. When their bodies were brought back, they were swollen and very scary, which directly frightened the original owner.

Some of the things that happened after that happened when the original owner was in a daze.

Selling the fields, collecting the bodies, mourning and holding a vigil, it seemed that someone had come to make trouble.

By the time the original owner came to his senses, his parents had already been buried.

Thinking about it now, there were all kinds of doubts.

Unfortunately, the original owner had suffered too much of a blow during that time, and many of his memories were chaotic, making it impossible for Lu Qing to sort out too many clues.

“However, I don’t suggest you go and ask Old Zhang and the others for the truth now.”

Seeing Lu Qing’s silent appearance, Old Doctor Chen suddenly spoke.

    “Why is that, Master?”

“Since Old Zhang and the others are hiding this from you, I think it’s for your and Xiao Yan’s sake. They’re afraid that if you know the truth, you’ll act impulsively and do something wrong. Could it be that you think Old Zhang and the others will harm you?”

Lu Qing recalled the attitude of the villagers towards him and Xiao Yan since he woke up, and immediately shook his head.

“Grandpa Zhang and the others are naturally not that kind of people.”

The most important thing was that in the information revealed by his special ability, it had never shown that anyone in the village was such a sinister person.

“In that case, you should believe Old Zhang. The fact that they are not telling you the truth now obviously means that the time is not right.”

“Therefore, what you should do now is not to seek the truth, but to study hard. When you are capable enough, I believe Old Zhang and the others will naturally tell you the truth.”

    Lu Qing was silent again.

In fact, he wanted to know the truth not because he wanted to do something impulsive.

After all, although he had inherited the original owner’s memory, he did not have any deep feelings for the “parents” he had never met.

He was worried that the truth about the original owner’s parents’ death would be detrimental to him and Xiao Yan.

But as his master said, he was still too weak now.

Even if he knew the truth, it would be of no use.

In that case, it would be better to calm down and learn from his master first.

    “I understand, Master.”

After thinking this through, Lu Qing spoke.

Seeing that Lu Qing seemed to have figured it out, Old Doctor Chen smiled.

His disciple was intelligent, and he didn’t want him to be immersed in so-called hatred at a young age.

In that case, it would only twist his mind.

So he still quite approved of what Grandpa Zhang and the others had done.

Seeing that Lu Qing’s face still seemed a little gloomy, the old doctor decided to divert his attention.

“Ah Qing, now that you have become my disciple, there are some things that you should know.”

    Lu Qing raised his head.

Seeing that it was effective, the old doctor smiled.

He continued, “Ah Qing, do you know what it takes to be a good doctor?”
