    Clang~ Clang~

    Argh!!!

The sounds of the railway tracks and the howls of zombies echoed through the sky. Countless zombies soon swarmed in from all directions, surrounding the Infinity. But at this moment, everyone’s attention was drawn to the front. Their gazes pierced through the hordes of zombies, focusing on the breathtaking super-project ahead.

With astonishing horsepower, the Infinity, like a steel behemoth, mercilessly plowed through the obstructing cars and zombies along the way. It finally turned steadily into the exclusive line leading to the interior of the underground city, slowly approaching the outer perimeter of the towering walls. In the very center of the track stood a massive gate. Behind it was a huge loading and unloading platform, where several high-end freight cars were quietly parked.

But as far as the eye could see, the platform was empty. The various construction vehicles, cranes, and watchtowers in the distance were already buried by the snow and wind. This unfinished super-project seemed to have been frozen in time in an instant.

“Is this underground city empty?” Kiki asked in surprise.

“It might have already fallen inside,” Lin Xian said in a deep voice. “No wonder we haven’t heard any survivor convoys mention this place. It’s long been a living hell.”

With zombies covering the mountains and plains and a silent underground city, apart from those like Lin Xian’s group who came to try their luck in a heavy fortress train, ordinary convoys couldn’t even get in. Not to mention this hellish scene. If it weren’t for the consideration of Lin Xian’s mechanical ability, who would risk coming here to look for food?

“Then are we going in?” Shasha asked.

    “We’re going!”

Lin Xian looked at Kiki and made a decision. “I’ll go open that gate. Teacher Chen, you drive the train in. The rest of you, cover me.”

    Hiss~

The moment the cockpit door opened, the zombies swarmed in like a tide. Kiki raised her hand and waved. An invisible telekinetic barrier instantly sent the dozens of zombies at the front flying. Lin Xian, without hesitation, charged out with his gun. A dense barrage of gunfire followed, bullets pouring out like rain, clearing a bloody path for his advance.

    Rat-a-tat-tat!

    Firepower poured out.

Dalou and Shasha also got off the train at this time, continuously firing to cover Lin Xian.

Taking advantage of the opening, Lin Xian ran directly to the giant gate, placed his hand on the cold metal, and activated his Mechanical Heart. He quickly connected to the gate’s hydraulic press. With a loud hum, the gate shook off the snow and wind and slowly opened to both sides.

Then, Chen Sixuan decisively pushed the driving lever, driving the Infinity onto the platform.

The others retreated while fighting, moving back inside the walls.

After everyone had safely entered the platform, Lin Xian once again controlled the gate to close.

    Bang bang bang!!

As the gate closed, the number of swarming zombies decreased, and they were quickly cleaned up by Dalou and Shasha.

    Argh…!!!

Tens of thousands of zombies were blocked outside the wall and gate, howling and reaching their hands through the gaps. The scene was terrifying.

“Let’s retreat quickly. Be careful in here, there might be more.”

Lin Xian immediately reminded them. He didn’t believe the underground city was completely empty. If the entire underground city had stopped operating, it was highly likely that the interior had fallen. Otherwise, the former federal government wouldn’t have abandoned this multi-trillion-dollar underground city for no reason.

    Screech~

The Infinity slowly pulled into one of the platforms. It was empty and silent all around.

The huge entrance to the underground city was like a deep pit in the earth. An updraft constantly collided with the howling cold air, creating clouds of mist above the pit.

But what none of them noticed was that as soon as the Infinity drove into the internal loading and unloading platform, several hidden surveillance cameras on the platform quietly turned, aiming at the train.

    “There’s really no one…”

Kiki frowned as she looked at the platform outside. “No way. Then how are we supposed to search such a big underground city?”

Lin Xian said in a deep voice, “We should have expected this situation. The nearby survivors never received any radio information from this underground city, which means it has long been in a silent state. But that’s good too. With no one around, we can freely look for useful things.”

“But the problem is, if there’s no energy here, we can’t just jump down, right? And without electricity, the underground city’s main control system must have been shut down long ago. Even if I wanted to hack into the system, I’d be helpless,” Kiki bit her lip. She had made all sorts of thorough preparations and fantasies last night, but after arriving, she found that there wasn’t even electricity here. Even the strongest hacker couldn’t solve a server power outage.

“Then we’ll take whatever we can find.”

Lin Xian wasn’t too discouraged. If there was no one, things would be much less complicated. There were many large machines here, which could provide ample nourishment for his Mechanical Heart. If there were no accidents, he could definitely use these things to upgrade to level 3.

Thinking of it this way, it wasn’t a loss.

“Teacher Chen,” Lin Xian thought for a moment and immediately made a decision. He said to Chen Sixuan, “Kiki and I will go to the entrance to take a look. To avoid a wasted trip, you three will search for usable things around this platform and move them onto the train first. Let’s hurry. Looking at the road conditions, we might have to reverse out later. It’s not easy to turn the train around outside, so we can only return the way we came through the Yuchi section and then take the northern line.”

    “Okay,” Dalou nodded.

Shasha pointed to the flatbed trailer at the back. “Brother Lin, then why don’t we just use the forklifts on the platform to move things to the back? We still have gasoline on our train, and we can put a lot of things there…”

Lin Xian nodded. “Right. Prioritize mechanical equipment. If there are daily necessities or anything useful, move them onto the train. There must be a lot of good things in this place that we can use on the road later. Chick, you come with me.”

“Alright, let’s go take a look first. Maybe we’ll find something useful.” Kiki put on the hood of her down jacket, rubbed her hands, and also picked up a gun, preparing to get off the train with Lin Xian.

Chen Sixuan was a little worried. “Then you two be careful. Although it’s quiet here, I always feel a little uneasy.”

Just as Lin Xian was about to open the cockpit door to get off, a beeping call suddenly sounded in the cockpit.

Chen Sixuan looked in the direction of the sound and found that it was the train’s response system flashing. Her eyes widened in surprise.

    “Lin Xian… it’s the transponder!”

“Why is this thing ringing?” Kiki had a puzzled look on her face. “Without that red bead, can the signal even connect?”

Lin Xian walked over quickly, his expression slightly grim. “Unless it’s an internal station call.”

Arriving in front of the transponder, Lin Xian paused with a complicated expression, then decisively pressed the answer switch.

    Beep…

The air seemed to fall silent.

“Who is it?” Lin Xian broke the silence and spoke directly.

A mature female voice came from the transponder.

“Hello, survivors. This is the research center on the 52nd sub-level of Underground City No. 9. Can you hear this call?”

As soon as these words were spoken, everyone was shocked.

There were still people in the underground city
