Chapter 84: Marauders
by SunflowerIn the dark train car, Lin Xian stared at the radio in his hand with a grave expression.
He tried to adjust the frequency, but the result was still the same. No matter how he adjusted it, the frequency would always return to 1542.
Lin Xian started to panic. He had clearly seen through this damn thing’s fear assault—it was just a disturbance of his mental and emotional state—but he didn’t know how to escape this place.
A chilling wind blew through the car, cold and desolate.
Lin Xian’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.
Wait.
I remember turning on the lights when I picked up the silver antenna before…
He immediately activated his Mechanical Heart. Clang. He turned on the entire train’s lighting system.
This time, the light was completely normal, not swallowed by darkness or flickering strangely.
Click.
But strangely, after only a few seconds, the lights were quickly turned off again.
Lin Xian looked in surprise at the control panel at the end of the car.
“Who turned off the lights?”
There was nothing wrong with the Infinity’s lighting system. Lin Xian sensed that it had been manually turned off, which seemed very strange.
He suddenly thought of a possibility. He activated his Mechanical Heart and turned on the heating system in Car 1.
The inside of the car was cold and gloomy.
But on the other side, Chen Sixuan felt a gust of warm air.
“It’s Lin Xian!”
Chen Sixuan reacted. Without any hesitation, she decisively turned the heating system off again.
At that moment, Lin Xian shot up from the sofa.
“So power-conscious… it’s definitely Teacher Chen!”
Lin Xian’s eyes widened as he picked up the radio, a look of amazement on his face. “So I really am trapped inside a frequency!”
As for why he was trapped in the 1542 radio frequency, Lin Xian didn’t have time to think about it. He was trying to figure out how to get out.
“Frequency…”
“Right, frequency!”
“The Phoenix will have a lot of important information on the LW01 long-wave frequency, while we Wanderers now mainly use the AM07 and 09 frequencies…”
Lin Xian’s pupils constricted. He finally understood.
The place he was in was inside a strange frequency. That’s why no matter how he adjusted it here, this radio would definitely always display 1542.
“If I follow this logic, then maybe if the frequency outside is adjusted to something other than 1542, I can adjust it accordingly in here? Does that mean I have a chance to get out of here?”
Lin Xian looked at the radio in his hand, then frowned again. “But it seems I can’t adjust it.”
“Right.”
He remembered something and picked up the silver antenna in his hand. “I almost forgot, there’s still this thing.”
But now Lin Xian hesitated.
If he put this thing back, would the terrifying scene appear again?
“So what if it appears? It’s all fake.”
Lin Xian’s brow darkened. He steeled himself and plugged the silver antenna back in. Sure enough, as soon as the silver antenna touched the radio, a red ghostly figure suddenly appeared out of thin air in the depths of the corridor in front of him, standing there eerily.
The female ghost in red stood motionless, her pale face under the shadows held a strange smile.
“What are you looking at?! Tell me how to get out!”
Unsure where the anger came from, Lin Xian’s anxious state of mind completely overshadowed his fear.
He suddenly yelled out, causing the red-clad female ghost to freeze in shock.
The female ghost’s eyes flashed with anger. In an instant, she teleported in front of Lin Xian, raising her bloody claws to tear at his neck!
Swish!
Lin Xian’s gaze turned cold. With a swift motion of his hand, the female ghost’s head flew off, thudding to the ground.
“Still trying to scare me.”
The air fell silent.
The red-clad female ghost’s head rolled into a corner, its eyes glaring venomously at Lin Xian, while her headless body remained standing, bloody claws raised.
Lin Xian knew this was all an illusion, so he simply ignored it. After plugging in the silver antenna, he turned the knob and found that the frequency numbers on the display did indeed change.
“As expected!”
His guess just now was probably correct. The main body of this strange radio was definitely this silver antenna, which could swallow people into a certain frequency.
So if he wanted to get out, he likely needed someone outside to adjust to the same frequency as him, a frequency that was the same but not 1542.
Having figured this out, Lin Xian’s mind instantly cleared.
“Then how do I get Teacher Chen to adjust to the same frequency as me?”
Gurgle gurgle~
The red-clad female ghost’s head quietly rolled to Lin Xian’s feet. Lin Xian looked down and saw the female ghost staring at him with a sinister gaze.
“Damn it, are you annoying or what…”
Lin Xian kicked it away, feeling a surge of irritation. He looked at the headless female corpse in front of him. Although he knew it was fake, having this gloomy thing standing next to him was still somewhat chilling.
An idea struck Lin Xian. He suddenly reached out, grabbed the red-clad female ghost’s dress, and rip! He tore it to shreds.
After the red-clad female ghost’s dress was torn apart, it revealed a well-proportioned female body, still wearing a red three-point bikini.
“So even female ghosts wear three-point bikinis…”
Aside from being a bit bony…
The female ghost’s head on the ground rolled to the side. Its sinister gaze suddenly turned to one of alarm. As the ghost’s clothes were torn, the terrifying feeling vanished completely.
Instead, it became somewhat comical, and the sinister chill instantly disappeared. Lin Xian let out a long sigh of relief, pointed at the ghost’s head, and threatened, “Don’t bother me again, or I’ll strip you completely!”
…
Vroom~
On the other side, outside the Infinity, the sound of car engines grew from distant to near. In the mountain forest, it seemed a large convoy was approaching the train.
“Sister Chen, there are more and more of them!”
Shasha’s angry voice came through the walkie-talkie. “It looks like they’ve set their sights on us today!”
Chen Sixuan’s brow furrowed. “There’s nothing we can do. You guys keep an eye on them for now. It seems like there’s some movement on Lin Xian’s side.”
For her, the top priority was to help Lin Xian out of his predicament. She had finally heard a sign of him, and all her attention was now focused on Car 1.
Rat-a-tat-tat!
Just as her voice fell on the walkie-talkie, a firefight suddenly broke out at the rear car. It seemed a dozen or so vehicles had driven over, preparing to surround the train.
Shasha and Dalou immediately returned fire. At the same time, many zombies also charged in from the snowy plains.
Outside the train, a fierce wind howled. A blizzard was coming!
A thudding sound suddenly came from the roof of the train. It seemed someone had climbed on!
“Sister Chen, the front!”
Shasha suddenly realized something and immediately picked up the walkie-talkie to shout at Chen Sixuan in Car 1.
Chen Sixuan reacted and immediately ran toward the cockpit. She planned to close the door to the cockpit corridor first, to prevent outsiders from seeing the situation inside.
If the people outside found out there were only three of them on the train, things could get out of control.
Thump thump thump!
The sound ran from the rear of the train to the front at an extremely fast speed. The person peeked into each car through the gaps with a flashlight, then scrambled to the front. Before Chen Sixuan could reach the cockpit, a face with a strange grin suddenly appeared upside down at the windshield, then shone a high-powered light inside.
The person had insect-like limbs resembling a scorpion’s tail growing from their body. Chen Sixuan’s face changed drastically. A metahuman!
The person shone the flashlight on Chen Sixuan, their eyes glowing, and let out a strange cry.
“Haha! So there are only three people in total, and two of them are chicks!!”
After speaking, he nimbly jumped off the train and ran toward the distant convoy.
“This is bad.” Chen Sixuan knew this was not good and immediately picked up the walkie-talkie. “Shasha, a metahuman saw us and is running toward the back!”
In Car 5, Shasha’s small face darkened. She turned, raised her gun, and called out to Dalou, “Brother, quick, take that guy out!”
