Chapter Index

The night was as black as ink. The massive train seemed to be completely swallowed by the darkness, parked silently on the tracks in the wilderness.

Inside the empty cars, though the lights were on, they seemed to be veiled by some black curtain, casting a strange, dim gloom over the long, narrow corridor.

It was as if the entire world had gone dark.

Lin Xian stood frozen, his expression stunned. At this moment, he could seemingly only hear the sound of his own heartbeat.

    Everyone was gone.

A bone-chilling sensation shot up from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. Lin Xian’s eyes slowly moved, surveying his surroundings. He didn’t dare to move a muscle.

The three people who had been right behind him just moments ago had vanished as if into thin air. His gaze swept towards the distant driver’s cabin; the corridor was pitch black.

There were supposed to be lights there, but their glow seemed to have been mercilessly devoured by the darkness. Only a faint orange light remained, unable to penetrate the depths.

Lin Xian turned his head again, looking towards car 2. In the distance, it was pitch black.

A chill ran down his spine. He tensed up, focused his mind, and called out.

    “Teacher Chen?”

    No one answered.

    “Shasha… Dalou?”

    Dead silence.

Lin Xian’s eyes darted around, this sudden situation catching him completely off guard.

    Hoo~

He tried to take a deep breath, steadying himself, and suppressed the fear in his heart. He took two steps forward.

    Click~~ clatter clatter clatter

The sound of a glass ball rolling suddenly came from behind him. He spun around abruptly. From the darkness of the car in the distance, a delicate glass marble slowly rolled out.

    “Who’s there!?”

Lin Xian shouted, his voice echoing through the car.

    No response.

He strode over, his eyes fixed on the glass marble.

It was crystal clear, with a swirl of colorful patterns inside, much like the kind children played with.

    Lights, on!

Lin Xian refused to believe it. He was in control of the entire train, and he had clearly turned the lights on!

The overhead lights seemed to receive a sudden, massive surge of electricity, brightening for a moment, but they were quickly suppressed by that thick darkness again, their brightness becoming very low.

He walked to car 2. In the distance, KIKI’s computer screen was full of static, its faint glow flickering in the darkness.

Lin Xian’s heart tightened. He turned around again and walked towards the driver’s cabin. The driver’s cabin had large portholes, which should offer a clearer view of the outside.

    Thump~ Thump~ Thump

The clear sound of his footsteps echoed in the car. He walked faster and faster, then suddenly stopped again.

Something in his peripheral vision caught his eye.

In the corridor ahead, something seemed to be floating in the air.

Lin Xian walked forward, his gaze fixed. He discovered that there were dozens of hair-like strands floating in the air above the corridor, just swaying gently.

Lin Xian frowned. He immediately reached out to grab them, but the dozens of strands of hair suddenly flickered with the wind and disappeared.

Strange things kept happening. He took out his flashlight. Click. A pale white beam pierced the darkness, illuminating the various mechanical instruments in the central corridor of the electric locomotive.

Lin Xian walked through quickly, heading all the way to the front. The light shone, but there was no one.

He shone the flashlight out the window. Outside was a vast expanse of snow, and ahead was a long, dark track.

Suddenly, as the light moved, Lin Xian saw what looked like a red figure standing on the tracks ahead.

He widened his eyes. There was indeed a human-shaped black shadow standing motionless in the middle of the tracks in front of the train. Lin Xian frowned and immediately shone the flashlight over. The white light swept past, but there was nothing.

The black shadow had disappeared again.

Lin Xian felt his hair stand on end.

At this moment, the sound of the marble was heard again from behind him.

    Click~~ clatter clatter clatter

And this time, the sound was, likewise, only a few steps away from him.

A cold breath gently brushed against the back of Lin Xian’s neck. His expression changed instantly, and he slowly turned around.

It was pitch black, and there was no one.

But in the shadows of the narrow driver’s cabin corridor, there seemed to be a small, dark figure.

    “What is that!”

Lin Xian felt all the hair on his body stand on end. He clenched his fist in the air, and a steel blade was quickly forged. His heart hardened.

I don’t care if you’re human or ghost!

    Flash Step!

    Hiss!

Lin Xian gritted his teeth fiercely. Suppressed and frustrated by the bizarre scene, he said nothing and directly slashed towards the black shadow.

    Swish!

The shadow flickered past, and the sound of cutting flesh was heard. Lin Xian’s pupils shrank. He knew he had hit something. He immediately turned back.

But at this moment, the small figure slowly walked out of the shadows and into the light. A little girl was anxiously clutching her neck, from which blood was spurting, looking at Lin Xian in terror.

    Lou Shasha!

Seeing this, Lin Xian’s face changed drastically. He saw Shasha fall to the ground in fear, a large amount of blood gushing out.

    “Sha…”

He had just opened his mouth when his heart trembled. He suddenly sensed something and spun around abruptly.

Behind him, a female ghost in red had appeared!

Under the black hair, a pale, rotten, and strange human face was grinning at him, seemingly only half an inch away.

    Hiss!

Lin Xian sucked in a cold breath and reflexively retreated violently. He directly raised his left index finger, ready to fire a wind gun!

    Bang!

But in the next moment, his left index finger suddenly exploded from the nail. The finger bone broke and flipped up, the flesh torn, leaving only a piece of skin still attached to his hand.

    “Ugh!!”

Lin Xian gritted his teeth and grunted in anger. He looked at his finger in horror. When he looked up again, the female ghost in red had disappeared from before his eyes.

In the distant car 2, the red ghost shadow stood there strangely.

    Thump-thump! Thump-thump! Thump-thump! Thump-thump!

His heart pounded violently. Lin Xian felt his adrenaline surge. A sharp pain and a sense of fear came over him.

The terrifying scene before him repeatedly assaulted his psychological defenses.

    Hiss!

Lin Xian looked at his exploded finger in horror, then turned back to look at the small hand and the pool of blood on the ground in the shadow. His heart was filled with terror.

    He had killed Lou Shasha?!

    “Shasha?!”

Lin Xian clutched his finger and called out tentatively. No response.

He couldn’t believe the scene before him. He took a step forward, but from the shadow behind the bleeding, frail body, a pale, ghostly hand suddenly reached out. It grabbed Shasha’s foot and pulled hard!

    Swoosh!

It directly dragged Shasha’s body into the darkness.

Leaving a trail of bright red blood.

Lin Xian’s scalp went numb. He kept telling himself to calm down. Intense fear was rapidly devouring his sanity.

The armor, the ice-breaking shield, all the hard work, yet it seemed nothing could stop this. In that instant, endless despair grew wildly from the bottom of his heart.

The intense pain in his finger made him break out in a cold sweat, attacking the last shred of his sanity.

    “Something’s wrong, something’s wrong!”

1542 radio, mysterious disappearances, supernatural phenomena, the female ghost in red…

Jiang Yun’s words from before echoed in his ears.

“…But… be careful. This thing can receive more than just human-made sounds…”

    “What exactly is wrong?”

    Whoosh…

A cold wind blew through the car, and the surrounding lights grew dimmer.

Lin Xian turned around and looked at the ghostly figure in car 2. As the light dimmed, the ghostly figure seemed to be getting closer and closer.
