Chapter 571: She Felt She Had Been Played
by MachineSamurai9124Dressed in water-green robes, her skin was whiter than snow, her beauty peerless, her figure slender yet agile, carrying an unrestrained and slightly willful air—who else could this be but Bi Yao?
Yu Xian was contemplating how to approach her. According to the original plot, Bi Yao was supposed to reveal herself. So, he decided to wait and observe.
As expected, after the signature dishes ordered by Zeng Shushu were served, Zhang Xiaofan grew curious, and the waiter began introducing the dish to them.
Just as he was speaking, Bi Yao jumped out and said coldly, “You waiter, you are spouting nonsense! This Mei Fish is a specialty of Zhugou Mountain in the south, thousands of miles from here. How could it possibly be transported here? Are you trying to cheat people?”
The group turned to look and saw that the speaker was a young girl, dressed in water-green robes, with a delicate and beautiful appearance. Her bright, large eyes were extremely lively, instantly catching the eye; she was certainly no less lovely than Lu Xueqi.
“Miss, you may not know, but the Mei Fish is indeed a specialty of Zhugou Mountain. However, ten years ago, The Mystic of the Qingyun Sect, Dao Xuan, was traveling the world and passed by Zhugou Mountain. Seeing how delicious this Mei Fish was, he moved some of the fish species and released them below the ‘Rainbow Bridge’ behind Qingyun Mountain.
The water of the Rainbow Bridge connects to the water system of the moat surrounding Heyang City below the mountain, which is why Heyang City also has these Mei Fish, and they are all fresh, certainly not fake ones,” the waiter explained.
The green-robed girl heard this, her bright eyes darted around, seemingly believing yet not believing. But she did not press further, merely giving a faint “Oh” before turning her head away, falling silent.
“Miss Bi Yao, how about joining us?” Yu Xian said with a smile to Bi Yao, who had already turned away.
Bi Yao was startled by his words. She hadn’t expected someone among that group to know her! Those people should be Disciples of the Qingyun Sect, but she was a member of the Demonic Cult. How could they know her?
But Bi Yao was inherently bold and clear about her likes and dislikes. She turned back, sizing up Yu Xian from head to toe, her eyes holding caution mixed with curiosity. Her crisp voice rang out, “You know me?”
Her tone lacked the shyness of an ordinary girl; instead, it carried the straightforwardness of a young woman from the Jianghu, as if she were trying to ascertain the background of this man who had suddenly called out her name.
“Know you, and not know you,” Yu Xian replied. Seeing that he had captured Bi Yao’s attention, his tone held a perfectly measured hint of mystery, his gaze meeting her scrutiny frankly.
“You are quite strange. If you know me, say so; if you don’t, say you don’t. Why say both?” Bi Yao was utterly confused by Yu Xian’s words.
“If Miss is willing to sit over and join us, then naturally we will know each other. If Miss is unwilling, then I can only know you in my heart,” Yu Xian maintained his gentle smile.
He knew Bi Yao’s temperament; the more he kept things half-hidden, the more it would pique her curiosity.
Bi Yao slightly knitted her delicate eyebrows, seemingly weighing something. Although this man before her appeared refined and gentle, she found him hard to fathom.
However, she had always been fearless. Since the other party dared to invite her proactively, she wanted to see exactly what trick he was trying to play.
“Alright then. You are a very strange person, and I want to see what trick you are playing.” With a sly smile curving her lips, Bi Yao lifted her skirt and walked unceremoniously to Yu Xian’s table, sitting down in the empty chair.
Her gaze swept over the dishes on the table, finally landing on Yu Xian. “Speak up. Who exactly are you? How do you know my name?”
Yu Xian calmly poured a cup of tea for Bi Yao and pushed it towards her before slowly speaking, “I am Yu Xian, an Elder of Tongtian Peak of the Qingyun Sect. As for how I know the young lady—that’s a secret!”
Bi Yao:…
She felt she had been played, but Yu Xian’s identity made her treat him with a bit more seriousness.
She snorted lightly, placing the teacup on the table. “So you are an Elder of the Qingyun Sect. My apologies for my lack of courtesy, my apologies.”
Although Bi Yao said this, she showed no sign of respect. Instead, she picked up the chopsticks on the table, took a piece of Mei Fish to taste, and immediately her eyes lit up. She exclaimed, “This Mei Fish truly tastes excellent.”
After speaking, she began eating for herself, as if this table of food had been prepared specifically for her.
Qi Hao and Lu Xueqi exchanged glances, both seeing a trace of shock and confusion in the other’s eyes. Zeng Shushu watched Bi Yao with great interest, seemingly finding the girl very amusing, while Zhang Xiaofan kept his head down, quietly stirring the rice in his bowl.
Yu Xian merely watched Bi Yao feast with a smile, a hint of doting affection seemingly in his eyes.
Bi Yao’s cheeks flushed slightly under Yu Xian’s gaze. The movement of her chopsticks paused. She looked up and glared at Yu Xian with a hint of playful petulance, “What are you looking at? Haven’t you seen a girl eat before?”
Although she spoke that way, the edges of her ears had secretly turned crimson, and her movements slowed down, losing the unrestrained ease she had shown moments before.
“Keep eating. We’ll order more if it’s not enough.” Yu Xian paid no mind to Bi Yao’s playful complaint. Instead, he beckoned the waiter over and ordered a few more signature dishes from the Inn.
Seeing this, the slight awkwardness Bi Yao felt from being stared at quietly dissipated, but she still muttered a complaint, “Unnecessary,” though her chopsticks honestly reached for the newly served dishes.
Zeng Shushu, watching from the side, found it entertaining and couldn’t help but tease, “Miss Bi Yao, your way of eating is even more hearty than us Senior Brothers who constantly train outside.”
Bi Yao’s delicate eyebrows shot up when she heard this, and she glared at Zeng Shushu, “What business is it of yours how this young lady eats? Do you want to compete with me?”
Zeng Shushu quickly waved his hands, “I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare. The young lady’s demeanor is far beyond my reach.”
After saying that, he even made an exaggerated bow, which made everyone at the table laugh, even the usually cool Lu Xueqi’s lips curved up almost imperceptibly.
“I’m done eating. You are a strange person, but I will remember you!” After eating her fill, Bi Yao put down her chopsticks. She stood up, patted the non-existent dust off her skirt, and looked at Yu Xian with her bright eyes, showing a mix of slyness and seriousness.
“Elder Yu Xian of the Qingyun Sect, we shall meet again.” With that, she turned and left like a gust of wind, her water-green figure quickly vanishing outside the Inn’s door, leaving behind only a faint, delicate fragrance.
Yu Xian gazed in the direction she left, the smile on his lips deepening slightly. He thought to himself, this girl is indeed interesting.
Qi Hao and the others exchanged bewildered glances. Zeng Shushu even leaned over and whispered, “Little Uncle, what is Miss Bi Yao’s background? She doesn’t seem like a girl from an ordinary family.”
“A descendant of an old friend. Don’t pry unnecessarily, keep eating!” Yu Xian casually fabricated a reason to dismiss Zeng Shushu.
Zeng Shushu stuck out his tongue, gave a sheepish smile, picked up his bowl, and ate a few mouthfuls of rice without speaking further.
Yu Xian’s lips curved slightly. He had intentionally revealed his identity so that Bi Yao would remember him; his status was far more significant than Zhang Xiaofan’s.
Moreover, after Bi Yao appeared, she hadn’t exchanged a single word with Zhang Xiaofan. Even while sharing the table, Bi Yao’s attention had been entirely focused on him.
