“Little friend, with this Compendium of Formations, do you intend to search for Materials for setting up Formations with this old Daoist in these mountains?” Zhang Sanfeng asked Yu Xian with a smile after closing the book.

“The Immortal Master sees through things instantly. After reading it, did the Immortal Master gain anything?” Yu Xian was referring to the understanding of Formations.

“The gains are quite substantial. I have already mastered the simple Formations,” Zhang Sanfeng said while stroking his beard.

Damn it! This old Daoist is truly not human!

He received the understanding of Formations thoroughly because the System directly infused him, but Zhang Sanfeng only casually flipped through it and had already mastered the simple Formations!

Yu Xian sighed inwardly. He took a shortcut relying on the System, whereas Zhang Sanfeng relied on his own extraordinary comprehension to thoroughly grasp the essence of Formations from these obscure ancient texts.

“In that case, regarding Formations in the future, I will have to trouble the Immortal Master for guidance,” Yu Xian said with emotion.

“Little friend’s attainment in Formations is clearly above this old Daoist’s…” Zhang Sanfeng didn’t even want to retort to Yu Xian. He knew that what Yu Xian meant by saying this was that matters concerning Formations would be left to him from now on, allowing Yu Xian to be lazy!

“Hehe…” Yu Xian chuckled twice and did not deny it.

Thus, after the two selected a direction, they did not fly away from the mountain range immediately. Instead, they planned to first find some Yao Beasts within the mountains to train and gauge their current strength. Along the way, they would search for suitable Materials and Spirit Medicine for setting up Formations.

Their figures turned into two streaks of light and quietly merged into the depths of the dense forest.

Ancient trees towered in the forest, intertwined with vines. Sunlight filtered through the layers of branches and leaves, casting mottled shadows on the ground.

They hadn’t gone far when a low roar came from ahead, accompanied by a thick, fishy wind. A strange beast, shaped like an ox and covered entirely in black scales, suddenly leaped out from the bushes. Its scarlet eyes stared fixedly at the two, saliva dripping from its sharp fangs, exuding a dangerous aura.

Yu Xian looked at Zhang Sanfeng, “Immortal Master, you go or I go?”

Although this strange beast looked terrifying, neither of them felt any threat from it, so they began to defer to each other.

“Little friend, you go first. Let this old Daoist see for himself,” Zhang Sanfeng said with a smile while stroking his beard.

“Alright then.” Yu Xian stepped forward, circulated the Immortal power within his body, gathered it at his fingertips, and then pointed a finger at the strange beast.

Instantly, a beam of finger force, condensed and sharp as a blade, tore through the air with a piercing sound, heading straight for the strange beast’s head.

The strange beast seemed to sense the danger and let out an angry roar. It violently stomped its thick forelimbs onto the ground, kicking up large amounts of dirt and gravel in an attempt to block the finger force.

However, the finger force was unstoppable. It instantly pierced through the gravel obstruction and accurately struck the strange beast between its eyebrows.

With just a soft ‘poof,’ the strange beast’s massive body stiffened abruptly. The fierce light in its eyes quickly dimmed, and its huge body crashed to the ground, stirring up a cloud of dust.

The black scales shimmered with an icy luster under the sunlight, but they had already lost their life aura.

Yu Xian retracted his finger and let out a light breath, feeling the smooth circulation of the Immortal Essence within his body. He gained a clearer understanding of his current strength.

“Little friend has remarkable finger strength!” Even Zhang Sanfeng couldn’t help but praise him. If it were him, taking that strike would not have been easy.

“This is the first time I’ve used Immortal power; I didn’t control it well,” Yu Xian glanced at the strange beast lying on the ground and shook his head.

Zhang Sanfeng choked, feeling an urge to strike Yu Xian with his Dusting Brush.

Yu Xian stepped forward, searched the strange beast’s body, and then hooked his sword-finger. A black, gleaming Yao Core slowly flew out from between the strange beast’s eyebrows, hovering above his fingertip.

This Yao Core was about the size of a fist, covered with fine patterns on its surface, emitting a faint black halo. The pure Demonic power contained within made Yu Xian’s eyes brighten slightly.

“The quality of this strange beast’s Yao Core doesn’t seem high,” he said, storing the Yao Core in the System Space.

He then sent out a few beams of Sword Qi with his sword-finger, slicing off several pieces of intact scales from the edge. “These scales are hard in texture and are also good defensive Formation Materials.”

Zhang Sanfeng walked forward, reached out, and touched the strange beast’s scales, sensing the residual fluctuations of spiritual power within. He nodded, “Although this beast’s cultivation isn’t high, both its scales and Yao Core are useful. It seems this mountain range indeed hides quite a few treasures.”

“Yes, but after trying it out just now, we can pick some Yao Beasts with higher cultivation later on. That way, we can more accurately test our true combat power in this world. After all, the strength of that strange beast just now probably wasn’t even enough for us to warm up,” Yu Xian said with a smile, his gaze sweeping toward the depths of the dense forest, where faint but stronger energy fluctuations could be heard, clearly indicating the presence of more powerful beings.

Zhang Sanfeng deeply agreed upon hearing this and stroked his beard, “What the Little Friend said is very true. This mountain range is vast, and the strength of the Yao Beasts will certainly be uneven. Let’s venture deeper into the mountains to get a general idea of the power levels in this world.”

With that, the two exchanged a look, and their figures once again turned into streaks of light, dashing toward the depths of the dense forest, their speed slightly faster than before, as they were clearly full of anticipation for the challenges ahead.

As they ventured deeper, the surrounding trees grew thicker, the vines became denser, and the concentration of Spiritual Qi in the air noticeably increased, accompanied by a faint, heart-palpitating pressure.

Occasionally, they could hear the roars of Yao Beasts from afar, the sounds louder than the scaled strange beast they encountered earlier, filled with ferocity and might.

The two dared not be careless in the slightest, carefully spreading their Divine Sense, constantly vigilant of the movements around them.

Along the way, they took turns attacking, killing quite a few Yao Beasts, and collecting some Spirit Medicine, Yao Beast hides, bones, and Yao Cores. They even kept the edible meat, preparing to bring it back for The Women to have an extra meal. All these Yao Beasts contained Spiritual power, and eating them would help increase cultivation.

The two collected as they walked. Fortunately, they had Yu Xian’s System Space, so storing things was effortless.

Suddenly, a roar from a giant beast echoed from the distant forest. The roar shook the entire valley, as if even the ground beneath their feet trembled slightly.

The violent power and ferocious aura contained within that sound were far beyond comparison with any Yao Beast they had encountered before. Even from several miles away, Yu Xian and Zhang Sanfeng could clearly feel that pressure which made their hearts tighten.

The two exchanged a look, seeing solemnity in the other’s eyes. The strength of this giant beast probably far exceeded their previous expectations.

“What a strong aura! It sounds a bit like a lion’s roar,” Zhang Sanfeng frowned tightly, the True Qi within his body involuntarily circulating, ready to deal with any sudden situation.

Yu Xian’s expression was also solemn. He also recognized the sound as a lion’s roar. Thus, he fully extended his Divine Sense, attempting to capture the giant beast’s exact location and form.

However, the roar seemed to carry some kind of special power that interfered with his Divine Sense probing. He could only vaguely determine its general location to be in a valley about ten miles ahead.
