Chapter 425: Husband, He Has Quite A Few More
by MachineSamurai9124King Li Su was aware of the situation between Li Hanyi and Zhao Yuzhen. Setting aside whether Zhao Yuzhen was alive or dead, the mere thought of making Li Hanyi wait indefinitely was something he disliked. How many years had he already wasted for Li Hanyi?
But Yu Xian…
His appearance was extraordinary, his cultivation was exceptional. Being able to avenge a love rival certainly made him a notable figure, but he had so many women and even children…
He didn’t want his granddaughter to be wronged! How could the successor of Jian Xin Tomb become a concubine to another man?
However, seeing Li Hanyi as she was now, King Li Su secretly let out a sigh.
But thinking conversely, if Zhao Yuzhen was dead and Li Hanyi insisted on remaining faithful, never marrying, then he would truly be the one crying. Now that Li Hanyi was willing to be with Yu Xian, there was still a chance for him to hold a little grandchild before he died.
Thinking this way, King Li Su felt much more at ease.
Looking again at Yu Xiangling and Yu Anling, since Yu Xian’s children were so beautiful, his granddaughter’s children would surely be just as lovely. He began to look forward to it.
Li Hanyi didn’t know what King Li Su was thinking. If she did, she would surely blush intensely. She only assumed King Li Su still disagreed with her being with Yu Xian and prepared to plead again.
“When you give me a little grandchild to inherit this Jian Xin Tomb, only then will I, your maternal grandfather, be truly happy.” King Li Su shot an exasperated look at Li Hanyi. This useless girl, turning her allegiance outwards. Alas, a grown daughter cannot be kept at home!
“Grandfather…” Li Hanyi actually blushed deeply, stammering, “Give the Jian Xin Tomb to Xiao Jie.”
“You…” Seeing Li Hanyi in such a feminine state, King Li Su felt deeply comforted. This was how a girl ought to be. She was always so cold, making him worry she would never marry. Now that she had someone, he worried she would be wronged.
Sigh…
“Grandfather.” Li Hanyi knew her grandfather truly loved her.
“Alright, speaking of swords for the children, I actually have several. I made them for you and Xiao Jie when you were little…” King Li Su spoke, seemingly recalling something, a hint of sadness on his face.
Li Hanyi knew King Li Su was thinking of her parents.
“Grandfather.” Li Hanyi softly called out to King Li Su. Her parents had passed away many years ago; she didn’t want her grandfather to remain steeped in grief.
“You wait here, I’ll go retrieve the swords right now.” King Li Su said, rising without another word.
He turned and walked toward the backyard. Though his steps were slow, his back view conveyed a touch of loneliness.
Not long after, King Li Su returned holding an ancient wooden box and gently placed it on the table. Opening the lid, four small and exquisite short swords lay quietly inside. Their blades were as clear as autumn water, and their hilts were wrapped with soft beast hide, clearly crafted specifically for children.
“These four were prepared for you and Xiao Jie when you were young. I made an extra one in case you didn’t like them, but they never reached your hands.”
King Li Su picked one up and presented it to Yu Xiangling. “Girl, try this one, ‘Flowing firefly’ (Liú Yíng), see if it fits your hand.”
Yu Xiangling happily accepted it. The short sword felt light in her hand, and the scabbard was engraved with lifelike firefly patterns. She swung it twice, giggling, “Thank you, Great-Grandfather! This sword is so beautiful! Xiang’er likes it very much!”
King Li Su looked at her lively appearance and showed a rare smile. He then handed another sword to Yu Anling. “This one is for you, named ‘Chasing Moon’ (Zhuī Yuè). May your Heart-Nature be like the moon in the future, clear and bright.”
Although Yu Anling was young, she also followed her sister’s example and performed a small bow, saying in a milky voice, “Thank you, Great-Grandfather.”
Li Hanyi watched this scene, her eyes growing slightly moist. She knew her grandfather had truly accepted them.
“Thank you, Grandfather. It’s just a small token; please accept it.” Seeing that King Li Su had truly taken out several short swords for the two children, Yu Xian was touched. He immediately flicked out a blood bodhi, which floated slowly in front of King Li Su.
“What is this?” King Li Su did not take it, instead asking with displeasure.
“blood bodhi,” Yu Xian only stated the name.
“blood bodhi?” He had certainly heard of the blood bodhi but had never seen one. He hadn’t expected Yu Xian to offer one immediately.
“You should keep it. It’s just a few swords; consider it a meeting gift for the children.” It was too precious; he could not accept it.
“Grandfather, please accept it. This is just a small token of my regard.” Yu Xian did not retract it, insisting on giving it to King Li Su.
Seeing that King Li Su still refused to accept, Yu Xian glanced at Li Hanyi. Li Hanyi understood and whispered into King Li Su’s ear, “Grandfather, please accept it. Husband has quite a few more.”
Upon hearing this, King Li Su’s eyes instantly widened. A single blood bodhi was extremely rare, yet Li Hanyi said Yu Xian had quite a few more? Had Yu Xian gone digging up a blood bodhi tree? However, since Li Hanyi said so and Yu Xian was willing to give it, he decided not to be polite and accepted it.
“The swords you requested won’t be ready until tomorrow, so you should stay here tonight.” After accepting the blood bodhi, King Li Su’s attitude softened considerably, even allowing Yu Xian to stay with them.
Yu Xian shook his head. “Hanyi should stay and accompany Grandfather. With so many of us, it’s inconvenient to stay. We will come back tomorrow.”
It was inconvenient for his many concubines and attendants to stay at Jian Xin Tomb. They would just return directly to the Small World. They had traveled this way the entire time and had never stayed at an Inn.
“Fine.” Li Hanyi agreed first.
King Li Su wanted to say more, but Li Hanyi held onto his arm, so he said nothing further, letting Yu Xian and the others decide.
“Great-Grandfather, could you give the remaining two swords to Xiang’er? Xiang’er has an older brother and a younger brother; they don’t have swords either,” Yu Xiangling, seeing Yu Xian preparing to leave, remembered the swords for her brothers and ran up to King Li Su, grabbing his hand and speaking earnestly.
King Li Su was completely charmed by Yu Xiangling’s cuteness, the lines on his face softening. He reached out and patted her little head, his voice unconsciously softening, “You little clever one, thinking of your brothers. I will give these two swords to you to take back to your brothers.”
Saying this, he squatted down and handed the remaining two short swords to her.
Yu Xiangling took the wooden box with both hands, smiling until her eyes curved like crescents. “Thank you, Great-Grandfather! Great-Grandfather, you are so kind!”
After speaking, she stood on her tiptoes and gently kissed King Li Su’s cheek, leaving a faint, wet mark.
King Li Su was startled by this sudden closeness, then burst into hearty laughter, a sound of unrestrained joviality that hadn’t been heard in a long time. “You girl, your mouth is so sweet!”
Everyone in the hall saw the grandfather and granddaughter getting along so well and laughed along with them. The previous slight awkwardness vanished completely.
Yu Xian watched this scene, a trace of warmth flashing in his eyes. He knew that this trip to Jian Xin Tomb not only allowed him to acquire weapons but also earned him King Li Su’s approval.
